Hey everyone,

I've been visiting Bungie.net for a while (I only recently registered), and I've been a member/lurker of HBO under a different name since early 2003. One aspect of the Bungie community and sane Halo fans that I've come to appreciate is how much more intelligent Bungie fans are than other fans of different games. It's great to have rational, coherent conversations with people who share the same interests. The screaming fan boys frothing at the mouth never really seemed to be a part of the crowd. Until New Mombasa. But don't get me wrong, I am most definetly in awe of it's subtlety. I think I've discovered a dual purpose of New Mombasa, that some have previously overlooked.

New Mombasa makes me appreciate every other forum more than I would had it not existed. Why? Drum roll...

It's a virtual prison! It's designed to protect reasonable people from the psychotic. It's masked as a place where idiots of all shapes, sizes, and ages can go and be free to (regurgitate mental diarrhea?) talk about Halo 2! While the rest of us withold premature judgements of Halo 2, quitely anticipate it's release, and read Frankie's updates.

New Mombasa has also led me to see the admins in an entirely new light. If one crazy should escape it's walls, and throw his thoughtless dribble on anyone in the other forums, CRACK! goes their admin rifle, and the given thread is either deleted or locked fairly quickly. They are snipers.

I, for one, appreciate New Mombasa as a shield for the other forums.

=D By the way, take this post with a grain of salt. I'm just playing around.

Crimson Clover

Oh yeah, and more of them everyday. Come November 9th, it could be one big jailbreak.

A big jailbreak indeed.

Come November 9th I don't believe there will be a jail break because they will all be trying to beat Halo 2. And all the noobs will be trying to practice, and then about 3 days later they will be back on and then they will spam all the forums with the plot of Halo 2.

What worries me is that the number of escapes seems to be growing at an alarming rate.

--Mr. Smith wishes he had access to one of these "Admin Rifles", as his boom-stick has a very limited effective range.

I'm certifiable.

I've said before that New Mombasa was b.net's septic tank. However, the prisoner metaphor is a better one. I like it.

-- Steve's hoping that those "Admin Rifles" are fully automatic by Nov. 9; when the going gets tough, the tough go cyclic. Hmmm, crew-served belt-fed Admin Rifles... mmmmm... *drool*

Hah, good analogy! I always likened it to a luminescent fly trap. They are lured in by the glowing banner of H2 and find themselves stuck. It still fits.

What about a 3 barrel, drum feed sniper rifle on the back of a warthog. That doesn't make much sense but, think about half a dozen mods with those. They could fire 3150 to 3850 rounds a minute. That could handle the escapes.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Virtual prison...

I like it. They get lured into it with discussion of Halo 2 and once they get there they can't get out until they do their time :D

Why do we need a prison when we could like up all the flamers and spammer and let the mods with their 3 barrel, drum feed sniper rifle on the back of a warthog pick which stay and which have to go.
