With the way that companies are running things, a new game in the line is cranked out every year, which makes it hard for halo to trend. What if bungie/343 where to create a spin off each year?

By spin-off I mean kind of like what odst was to halo 3. Make it so that each year a game based off of a book (ghosts of onyx, first strike, fall of reach) is released. Have same graphics, mechanics, maybe tweak some things from halo reach (or halo 4 if it was implemented after the release of halo 4)

The point is to be able to crank out more content in less time. It would also reinforce the storyline of the books and make it come to life. It could either be a new entire game, or a huge dlc that costs 1600 microsoft points. Each game might come with a map pack for halo reach/halo 4 dependant on what era it comes out.

The question is if you think bungie/343 would waste time doing this or not?

I'd go with the huge DLC idea. I don't wanna have a super Halo shelf.

Well, If they have one department, the same size as usual works on the multiplayer, and hire a bunch of new people to work on these spin-offs than there is basically no harm, no foul.

you cant just hire tons of people to work. gotta have money. and id rather have an entire company make 1 perfect, huge game then half of a company makeing a crappy spin off with -blam!- up canon.

I think they (343i not Bungie) should.

I would love me to get a sequel to Halo Wars for instance.
Also: an ODST style DLC for Reach focussing on Jun would be great.
Last but not least: an ODST prequel with a "How Rookie turned mute" and a "Buck and his team trying to defend Reach" storyline (well 2 storylines in total) would be epic.

Also: a spin off game, which is similar to the Evolutions book in terms of structure would be great. Like having 10 short stories: 1 to 2 level stories each with different characters and slightly different gameplay. Maybe release such a thing as an episodic game through Live.

In short: Yes they should.
As long as its quality stuff and adds to the galaxy.

lol I get it.

Im not suggesting it to be like CoD, but the reason it is so popular is they add a new game EVERY year... So If they where to add these spin-offs each year, it would be able to keep people satisfied, yet also not be crap

If I was in a room with justin Bieber, Bin Laden, Hitler and a gun with two bullets I would Shoot Bieber twice.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

we dont need Halo to end up like Guitar hero...it doesnt need to be massed produced like COD because then it's just rushed and you play it for a bit then sell it back to gamestop while waiting a year for the next one to come out.

we dont need another ODST.

Shape Up or Ship Out*

I dont know i don't want to be dishing out $40 to $60 dollars every year for almost the same experience (COD,) Honestly all the COD multiplayer is the same. Bungie kept changing and adding while COD has just stuck with the same stuff in my opinion. I'd like to see more Halo but as a consumer headed off to college im not willing to deal out cash for a short half baked campaign like ODST was (even though i did enjoy it.)

avid forger, love vehicle gameplay

if we got a new game every year, it would not be a quality game. Three years is a long time to develop a game, and presonally, i'd wait longer if this meant a better game. Halo introduces a new engine with each game (not counting ODST, it's still technically Halo 3). I would be vey upset also if a new $60 game was cranked ot each year. For the many peope wo work on a limited budget i wouldn;t be able to expeience all that gaming has to offer. This is why i vote no, and i hope others will to.
