I am having problems with the graphical aspect of Halo Reach engine. The lightning is too dark. I can imagine the first level of Halo CE looking somewhat like Winter Contingency. Winter Contingency looks pretty in it's own way but takes away from the beauty of Halo. If they can make the grass green enough, it should be okay as long as they don't screw the rocks.
Another problem I am having with Halo Reach graphics is Forerunner textures. I spend most of my time in Forge and I have noticed that if there is lots of Forerunner walls around you, the place wight look a bit confusing or dark. This however could be made by making the walls have less details as they were in Halo CE. Walls should also always be gray. Black walls like the coliseum wall make the place look dark. Lightning should also be relatively bright when inside.
If they make it with Halo Reach graphics, they have to be sure it still looks like Halo CE. What I mean is that only thing that should be changed is textures and maybe adding some small geomertic details. Messing with large scale geometrics makes the game look too strange and unfamiliar. Good example is the last mission in Halo 3. I wasn't completely happy with the way the control room looked. But that could be because it wasn't the original Alpha Halo. With remake it's even more important to keep the places as they were.
As for new weapons and stuff that impact gameplay, they're okay as long as 343i is very careful with them. And even then they should only be implemented in campaign. In my opinion the multiplayer in Halo CE is the best multiplayer of all Halo games and I wouldn't want it to get ruined by new weapons and vehicles that brake it's gameplay balance.
What comes to implementing this new stuff into campaign, I am afraid that it would loose it's touch. My best memory from the campaign of Halo CE is running around in Forerunner corridors on Assault On the Control Room and blasting heads with the pistol. It just wouldn't feel the same with something like DMR.
Enimies are another thing that could break the campaign of Halo CE. What differentiates it from other Halo games is that even on Legendary I can move quickly, blasting some Grunt heads on my way. Some situations allow me to jump to a group with about five Grunts and even two Elites. The reason is simple, what doesn't have shields I can blast it's head off with the Pistol. What has shields, I can shoot it's shields with a Plasma Pistol and then blast it's head off with the Pistol. Alternatively I can go to a CQC situation and assassinate it by being cunning.
Good examples of what could break the campaign are Brutes. They have no shields by time of Halo CE but have a strong helmet as a replacement. This doesn't go in with my way of "blasting it's head off if it doesn't have shields" very well. Another new enemy is Drones, as we all know, they are a pain in the ass. They slow you drastically and again don't fit into my concept of "blasting it's head off if it doesn't have shields" as they come in such large amounts, their head is hard to spot and they move quickly. The last thing with enemies is Hunters, they should remain one shot with Pistol and Sniper Rifle. One shot hunters just fit very well into my concept.
What is so important with the "blasting it's head off if it doesn't have shields" concept is that it allows experienced players to move on quickly. It also allows "risk and reward" situations for experienced players. Not so experienced players don't know all the tricks you can possibly do. They may not know the Hunter is a one shot kill with the Pistol and even if they knew, they would have hard time trying to get behind the Hunter's back. They also can't go with the flow of the game, which gives them huge challenge.
That's my opinion on the remake, you can decide is that a yes or no or something between them.
