I work at Microsoft. I have nothing to do with Halo and nothing I say is "the official word".

So this means that no one in the Septagon needs these guides, or basically any guides about how to act on the forums. The catch? This is where such guides belong.

This really is the snag isn't it?

It's an attempt that is incredibly honorable (what isn't honorable about trying to help people after all) and helpful to people who have trouble with certain issues, but one that can not actually be put into proper use.

We encounter three problems:

1) We are trying to help the people that don't need help.

2) We are constantly ignored by those who don't care to look at other threads (mostly a remark upon those in other forums, generally not here).

3) If we post guides in the wrong forum, we are breaking the rules (although sometimes the mods overlook this, but eventually 2 takes over, and the thread dies anyways).

Let those who have ears to hear, let them listen.

This forum has been helpful for me, and I do enjoy the intelligent conversation. It does achieve its purpose in a limited way. The mods effectively deal with technical issues here.

Mabian,

I agree that netiquette guides will fall prey to your logic here, but there are many other types of guides (most of them technical and strategical) that enrich the community - particularly in the Halo:PC forums where there's a lot of modding (HCE / HEK), and potential tech questions that pop up.

That may be a moot point that I'm making, but I just wanted to let you guys know that lots of people have been help out by such guides.

And I did say that many guides that belong in certain other forums will work. However, my point is simply that "netiquette" guides are made for people who don't need such guides, and the place where these people gather is the only place where these guides are allowed.

It really did happen: A one-sided poll, the pinnacle of ridiculousness.

Easy rule of thumb: don't do that.
