If they do remake Combat Evolved, the developer that does needs to be careful if they want to actually remake it.

These are seemingly small things that will make a huge difference for people who used to play the hell out of this game.

*how explosions make weapons go FLYING, I remember knowing just the right place to throw a grenade on hangem high and having a sniper rifle launched right to you.

*aiming reticle in the center of the screen. this is something that baffled me, why in Halo 2 and since then did they lower your crosshairs? I generally like to keep my crosshairs at head-height and when I run around that way i feel like im looking too high.

*Wider field of view. I dont notice it anymore, but when i first started playing Halo 2, it seemed like you were always zoomed in just a little bit.

*minimal auto-aim. Remember when you had to be a total badass with the sniper rifle to nail someone off a ghost? Now its like you suck if you cant do that. Headshots were hard as hell with the sniper.

*plasma freeze. It was annoying as hell when you were being shot at from behind with the plasma rifle and you couldn't turn around fast enough to get a shot off before being donkey punched (assassinated).

*no lunge in the melee. I just dont like it. and the old sound effect was better when you hit someone.

*Indestructable and floaty vehicles. You know it was satisfying when you had a perfectly thrown frag that sent a warthog flying and you could get just steal it and not have to worry about it blowing up after 1 burst from an an AR because its on fire. Also you wouldn't have to worry about someone getting to your base and destroying all your vehicles.

*The tank couldn't drive sideways. Unrealistic? Yes. Make the gameplay more fare? Yes. also the Scorpion drivers head was exposed, making him easy to snipe.

*No new weapons or weapon tweaks. Im actually a little torn on this one, only for the needler though, unless they should just keep it the way it was - a weapon to embarrass your opponent.

*Frag grenades aren't bouncy balls.

*Crouching right before you land from a big fall lessens the damage. No it doesn't make sense, but who cares, it added an interesting element where you would have to be confident that you knew how to survive a big fall.

Thats all I can really think of right now, but I know theres got to be some stuff Im forgeting. What do you think? If they do remake CE, should they change anything besides the graphics/fix glitches?

I think you listed most of them.

Radar while sniping could be one. It gave you slightly better chances at surviving someone who came from behind.

I remeber exactly but I have afeeling that the Sniper Rifle had slightly faster faster RoF than other games.

That was all I came up with. That's pretty good list you got there.

I agree that the single player was also the best in the series. The Multiplayer gave it lasting power though, I gotta ask, did you play CE before Halo 2 came out? And if you did, did you ever get the chance to have a LAN multiplayer session with 8+ people? This guy in my neighborhood used to host a LAN party every tuesday, at least 8 people would show up every time. Usually it was like 10 players but that was the -blam!-. blue team in 1 room, red team in a different room, it was probably the best time you can imagine playing a video game.

Yeah, kind of. That thread has over thousand things, though some of them have been mentioned twice or even thrice. Besides, the thread has things that don't impact gameplay. It has pretty similar purpose but not exactly same, unless that's exactly what you were trying to accomplish.

It was truly an incredible game for its time. Remember this was 2001. It launched with the launch of the Xbox. You could zoom in on those grenades, ammo, ammo counters on Marines rifles, zooming in on the shotgun shell to find a hippo. That's the kind of detail that I love. You don't even see that much detail in any other Halo game.

Also, unrealistic tank? Yes. But hey, when you think about it we have more advanced tanks now then we do 500 years in the future somehow...
