LOL ... recent games (from today) without the team;
lost - badly, then
Rages Quit ("Grow some balls" he says), and within 3 minutes of that
quit AGAIN, and the only one to do so.

And before you come "my Internet happened to turn off" ... here is another from yesterday - LOL.

Guess you and the OP still running on that crap connection.
Able to win by team lagging out the match for others. Both quit yourself, and then wonder why no one wants to stay.
Joke.

I was thinking the quit ban could increase the more you get it, like 15 mins the first time, 30 the 2nd, an hour the 3rd etc and then it resets each week, although I think the idea of your banned reflecting the time you left the game was a good idea.

No. If anything the quit ban should be removed.

Despotic game design rarely measures out fair justice. Bungie's only concern is reinforcing their own power base (the success of Reach measured in how many people are playing it) so the only deviants they will punish are those that choose not to play the game.

AFK, credit boosters, quitting, anything that allows you to spend less time with the game than you would do so normally earns you a corrective slap on the wrist. And all the while, being the biggest sniper-whoring douche imaginable in BTB is a perfectly legitimate way to play the game, even though it's a far worse thing for how able the other players in game are to enjoy that game, simply because it doesn't directly impact Reach's standing on Major Nelson's leaderboards (indirectly, sure, but bungie's not one to appreciate subtlety.)

It's just what inevitably happens when someone with power looses connection with those that power is applied to. All they see is their own goals and obstacles to those goals (Reach's population), and regardless of how those relate to the "common gamer" (which they themselves can no longer relate to; see how Bungie usually refers to us as "the kids" in the podcasts) they'll act only to reach/remove them, respectively, not knowing any other course of action.

I shouldn't have to sit through a game of spawn-and-get-killed-almost-instantly if I don't want to. I do have rights. I'm a human. It's called free will. If i want to quit, I'm going to quit, and there's nothing they can do to stop me. I want the quit ban removed because it is wrong, not just because i don't like it.

I mean what's next? Getting suspended from matchmaking if over half your kills are from long range because they want you to melee more?

They'll start using the excuse. "Well since the other person doesn't have very good aim at long range we want you to get closer to them so they can kill you easier. It's ruing their experience because they cant kill you because you were smart enough to stay away from them, so we want you to ruin your experience to make some kid on the other end of the screen feel better."

I should be able to quit whenever the -blam!- I want. I refuse to be FORCED to get my ass reamed when the rest of my team either sucks completely or leaves. Honestly, yeah. I quit a lot, but it's because I'm always on the losing team. I'm always on top pulling the team trough and doing all the work. You say you want it to be fun for us. Well getting my ass plowed by two field marshalls, a hero and a mythic is not fun. The matchmaking system is so unfair it's not even funny. Even when the "Skill" filter is on I find myself getting destroyed by people that are higher levels... And I go to quit, only to find myself banned for 10 minutes. I'm not just gonna sit there and be a sandbag for them to blow their load on. I'm gonna quit, and a quit ban isn't going to stop me. It's just an annoyance.

The fact that they say "Quitting games disrupts the experience of other gamers." makes me grit my teeth. Its BS. What about MY experience?!? shouldn't I be able to choose how I play? It's my game and I payed for it. And getting spawn raped sure as hell doesn't ruin other people's experiences, it helps them AT MY expense, so why would they be surprised when I quit? They shouldn't be. Because in any other game it is a normal occurrence. Point and fact: staying in games I don't like is ruining MY experience, yet Bungie says the want their players to have the best experience, but they also decide to tell me what a good experience is instead of letting me choose on my own. It's backwards and crooked and manipulative. It's wrong.

If Bungie was any kind of smart they would have never added the quit ban in the first place. It would have been a whole lot smarter to just add the "Drop in, Drop out" system that is seen in almost every other shooter (PC, Console, or otherwise).

And do they truly have the right to ban me? I haven't broken any rules. I'm not manipulating the system nor am I causing anyone financial/property damage. I may cause other players to be at an inconvenience, but there is no true harm done to them. (And, if the above system had been implemented, it wouldn't have been a problem in the first place) Yes, I agreed to the terms of use when I signed up, But do they by law have the right to ban me from a service that I payed for and that I have done no harm to? Is it legal to ban someone for technically doing nothing wrong?

I think not.

How do you explain the links provided ... multiple DNFs a day sounds like quitting ... either than or crap connections.

And if your "connection is fine" why not post the speedtest results ... or you afraid the truth will be shown (on top of the quitting proof above). Doubt you will though, "dominate through lag" would be more your slogan I suspect.

Should quitters be dealt with? Yes. Is Bungie going about dealing with them the correct way? No. Not even close.

The solution is an updated matchmaking from something superior to 1999 and not a ban that harms us all.

It's sad that Bungie has been doing nothing but diddling themselves this entire time. After their botched lobotomy mid Halo 3 they have become incompetent. Halo 3 was below par, ODST had insane price with lied about graphics, and Reach was below par with a lied about engine! This game is so piss poor and outdated.

All Bungie has been doing is making some F.aggot thing called Aerospace that isn't even a game! While 343 Industries comes out of nowhere with TWO Halo games AND A TITLE UPDATE TO REACH!
Step aside, Bungie! Let he adults clean up. You MORONS!

Agree ... and not willing to stand their ground (either in game OR on the forum).

Again, using the OP home grown provider and a speedtest back to your local server (Syracuse NY ... 100km compared to the Aus 18300km trip) ... can the OP come anywhere close (or will he quit out when presented with a challenge).
(ok, did QOS the hop route to score a good ping, but would do the same in-game so still accurate).

There is basicly no punishment for quitting multiplayer games (wow 15 minutes is nothing) and they constantly ruin my games, my teammates games and the games of the people left on the other team and thats alot of people as I usually play BTB with a full party of 8 high ranked players. We destroy and they always quit. Games turn into hide and seek and chasey with 8 on 2 which ruins our game and the poor bastards that dont quit. Not as bad if its flag or bomb as we can end it quickly but games of slayer when we have like 30 kills, 10 minutes left and 2 people who wont quit no matter how bad we spawn kill them. This is not fun for us or them. Please increase the punishment for habitual quitters as its ruining hundreds of games for thousand of players, probly alot more than afking.

Quitters are a problem in every team playlist not just btb and not just against full parties.

Afk'ing is NOT ruining my game and if it was its Bungies own fault for rewarding people doing nothing.
More kills and credits for me, a distraction for my enemies/ someone else for them to go after.

I dont like them earning free credits but thats the systems fault for allowing that.

Something I posted in another thread: Bungie knowingly pay their gamers credits for doing nothing and even promote them then after 8 months decide they didnt like paying them for nothing so they demote you back to a nobody, take any money you earned (even the money earned for many hours of working), anything you bought with the money and say you can work but wont get any credits for 2 weeks.

Edit 1: Examples
It seems to be getting worse. Here's just a couple of examples from the last couple of hours:
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/GameStats.aspx?gameid=62625 3893&player=Jamage007
They all quit within a couple of minutes.

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/GameStats.aspx?gameid=62630 1274&player=Jamage007
They quit 1 by 1 until there was only 1 guy left and it was slayer so we all had to kill 1 guy until the game was over.

Edit 2: The Revenge/The Test
When we came across a few people that quit on us earlier and a habit quitter we decided to do a test and get some revengeon them so 7 of us hid while the other went to take on the other team 7v1 to see if 1 person could break a spawn trap.
With the rest of us hiding and them only taking on 1 person they didnt seem to quit.
Funny thing is the guy by himself broke the spawn trap and started killing them alot more than they were killing him.
Now one of them quits but the rest stayed.
Since our guy was doing well in a 7v1 situation we stayed hidden to see how this played out. Our Guy went 41 kills 4 deaths, broke a spawn trap and beat a team of 8 singlehandedly.

Thats proof that spawn traps can be broken so please people play on. Not everyone is as good as him but a whole team that stays should be able to do it or at least try and give us some competition.
Game stats: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/GameStats.aspx?gameid=62616 7309&player=Jamage007

TLDR: MM quitters are ruinng my game not FF afk'ers and all bungie care about is FF afk'ing not the real thing thats ruining games.

totally agreed. I posted a thread about this a while back but this one seems to have gotten some more attention so i'll throw my weight behind it.

Here's the problem with increasing the quitting penalties if you ask me:
1) Even if no one quits out, full parties will still be able to spawn kill. This will make a lot of players who search by themselves or with a few teammates upset, thus likely decreasing the population of big team substantially
2) If, to compensate for this unfair dynamic, bungie adds in party search restrictions where only teams of 7-8 can get matched up with one another, it will slow down matchmaking for these parties substantially

That being said, there are far better solutions than the ones in place right now. My proposal would be to have the quitting penalties be based upon the order in which you quit out
-If you are among the first 25% of the players on your team to quit (so the first person in team slayer, and the first two in big team) You automatically recieve a 15 minute matchmaking ban.
-If you among the first 50% to quit (so if you're the second person on your team in a 4 person playlist or the 3rd-4th in an 8 person playlist) You recieve a 5 minutes matchmaking ban
-If you are among the last 50% to quit you recieve no penalty
-If you are the last player on your team, you should be given a "mercy quit" option where you can quit out without suffering a loss

A system like this would do a few things: It would make it much more fun to play in a full party, since with the current status quo, at least half the opposing team quits in 90% of the games. It would also improve the experience of the players who don't routinely quit out of games because they would have teammates to distract the enemy team from just killing them, and to help them break spawn traps if they do end up getting stuck in one.

I understand the resistance to a system like this from people who search big team by themselves and don't want to be forced to sit through a game of spawnkilling by full parties that aren't even going for the objective. But believe it or not, being forced to stay in will actually help you be spawnkilled less. There's only 3 or 4 big team squads I know of that can actually keep all 8 players in a spawn trap if they are trying to escape. If you have teammates to help you, you will die much less and have a better time as a result.

When I shoot a rocket, the dude jumps and God knows why a grenade was just at my feet, I armor lock and the full team of his comes out of a teleporter at once, surrounding me and waiting for my Armor Lock to end, lol I quit.

You quit out rather than get killed once?
