Subject: Ok,so the story is quite confusing

You're blaming 343 Industries for Reach? Markus Lhetto is credited as the creative director and he's on Bungie's payroll.

ODST has the best story in the series, everything about it was told perfectly. Plus Sadie's Story is one of the best things to happen to Halo, everything in it from the art to the voice acting, sound effects and plot was masterfully tied into the main storyline.
You really want to sound like you care don't you. The voice acting was horrible, I remember how unrealistic the old lady was. I laughed.

And how did Halo Wars ruin things?

My bad, thanks for correcting me. I blame Markus Lhetto for coming up with that stupid story. He should have sticked with the books. Why would you stick with the books up until ODST, then create a Spartan team that didn't exist?

The story is confusing because of the games. In Halo Wars, they made up stupid vehicles like the Vampire, the Locust, the Gremlin. So now they have to fit those in the storyline. Alone with the crew of the Spirit of Fire.
That ODST squad in Halo 3 ODST didn't exist, but you can assume that ODST squads were sent down like that. So that doesn't really mess up the story.
Reach is the worst part about it though. I love multiplayer, but 343 screwed up so bad. You gotta hate the new owners. They ruined the campaign & story. The Pillar of Autumn is in Space, & Master Chief is in Space as well. There were no Spartan IIIs on Reach & nobody needed to get Cortana to the Autumn. Dr. Halsey handed Cortana to the Chief herself.
You have to read the books, they're more accurate. & Don't listen to people who say the books are wrong & the games are right. All the games from Halo 1 to Halo 3 & ODST are correct about the stroyline. Wars & Reach ruined it, that's why they or whoever said it said that the Games override the books.
Yet the Bungie logo is on the back of all the books.

You're right about the Reach but not Halo Wars...

Halo Wars is perfectly accepted in canon because they added more new content in the entire Halo universe and those vehicles were probably early-prototypes that were used in early covenant-human war, and probably was too expensive to continue hence you don't see those vehicles in halo trilogy. Don't forget, humans are always experimenting something.

Crew of Spirit of Fire is fine too... even three SPARTAN-IIs. They said that three SPARTAN-IIs were pulled from Red Team and joined the crew of spirit of fire because of high-importance missions.

Halo Wars is fine with me... If you still think that Halo wars messed up anything, go ahead explain about that.

Their homeworld is in the orion complex and is highly highly highly irradiated. Not to mention that the area isn't bright and has little star life now.

You really just want to sound cleverer than you actually are. You pointed out 1 character than appears for about 10 seconds before she's killed, you can have your opinion but basing an argument on such a minor character makes you look silly. You wouldn't criticise Of Mice and Men because Whit appears in a scene completely unnecessarily. Crone was an archetype character, her appearance was designed to represent greed and gluttony.

Sup? Welcome to my profile.
Havok Team and I will help bungie dominate the world. and eat cookies

hmm... halo 3 storyline...bad?
sad

  • 05.29.2011 3:24 AM PDT

(that sounds -blam!- but i like it)

EXaaaaaaactly, the only thing you actually get is:

Kill things
save cortana
stop truth

and i know fps are all a bit like that, but halo 1,2,ODST and reach gave you more reasons and a story to tell not just:

Kill things
save cortana
stop truth

  • 06.02.2011 8:02 AM PDT

(that sounds -blam!- but i like it)

and ok,americanist crap was a HUGE exageration, but just listen to the song titled America: -blam!- yeah! and you'll know what i mean, just think of it,its not hard to percieve, jhonson is a perfect example

  • 06.02.2011 8:04 AM PDT

(that sounds -blam!- but i like it)

oh,and sorry,i didn't say ODST was worth all the money i spent, but it was good, and reaach wassn't PERFECT but halo 3 had:

a bit confusing storyline, even you guys have said its as simple as:

kill things
save cortana
stop truth
blast flood

halo wasn't globaly known and loved just for that!
halo had a much better story, and yes, halo 3' story IS complicated and good, like any other halo, but it was a bit saturated and wassn't narated correctly at ALL,a lot of people just got:

kill things
save cortana
stop truth
blast flood

And i know about some cannonsc,i know some stuff was wrong with ODST and REACH,but come on! i prefer a good story that desn't fit ALL the cannons, than a very confusing story thatmakes you either cry,or accept it issn't as good as the others.

and yeah,americanism...i know america doesn't even exist in halo but...does United Nations Of Awesome Kick-ass Super Soldier sound a bit familiar?

I think Halo 3 was great for its new mechanics adapted to the X360,but halo:Reach mixed the already known narrative and good stories of the halo series, and mixed them with an even better (imo)multiplayer

I've personly never found the storylines confusing, because I always pay attention to things, but that being said, I was incredibly disapointed with Halo3.
All of the game was simply you doing everything, the humans given a back seat in general, failing at pretty much everything they're meant to do, the elites pretty much put in as an after thought, a disapointing death for multiple charecters, the masive disapointing end to Truth, I was at least looking for some kind of boss fight similar to the ones in Halo2, never fighting the main gravemind form.
With all of those issues, for me, the game was a complete letdown on the campaign.

ODST on the other hand was pretty dam good, bringing back the feel that CE had in some ways whilse giving a new experiance, audio editing could of been done better, but I was happy with the finished product. Personly. My 2 cents. :P

  • 06.02.2011 9:05 AM PDT

Halo 3's story:

Stop the covenant from activating the ark, if they do, every being in the Galaxy will die. In order to fufill this objective, Master Chief must kill any covenant that chooses to get in his way (The guys we kill troughout the game), and complete other objectives in the other missions leading upto the mission called 'The Covenant.'

Once you defeat the covenant and kill Truth, Master Chief must activate the newly contructed Halo which will destroy the Halo AND the Flood. However to do this he must save Cortana, who has the index which is needed to activate Halo. Once you save Cortana from the flood infested High Charity, you activate Halo, escape, THE END.

Anyone who finds it confusing either didn't pay attention to the diolougue and plot line or they're just a moron. Halo 3 was the first Halo Game I played, I didn't even know the story when I first put the disk in my Xbox, but by listening to diolougue, I understood the plot after watching the Crows Nest opening cutscene.

Halo Wars fits into canon as it doesn't contradict much with existing canon unlike Halo Reach.

Spirit of Fire: Lost in space, completely acceptable.

New vehicles: Used at that time, but probably decommissioned because of being impractical or cost too much.

Of course there are few things like existence of the Spartan Laser and the size of MAC blast, but those are acceptable by gameplay reasons. The story itself didn't have any major flaws.

You don't seem to visit the Universe often and I recommend not coming back until you learn some manners. We are trying to maintain at least some level of intelligence here.

  • 06.02.2011 9:50 AM PDT

(that sounds -blam!- but i like it)

well, what i mean is that it is either cnfusig,or too simple

for example, halo 2 had a much better concept of the covenant when speaking of religion and history,it was just inmense, but halo 3 is just a way to simple (compared to other halos) story with a bad narration.

  • 06.02.2011 10:32 AM PDT

Am I supposed to write something funny here?

I'm still confused about this "americanism". Can you point out an example? (Yes, I know you said Johnson, but if that's your only one, be more specific, I didn't get that)

WHAT AM I READING?

I mean, I know I'm likely one of the very few who loved Halo Wars' story, but hell. It's canon. Sorry.

Also, us Americanists don't like you much, either.

  • 06.02.2011 10:56 AM PDT

you are contradicting yourself. something can not be simple and confusing at the same time.

simple: not involved or complicated; easy to understand or do

confusing: Make something more complex or less easy to understand
