(that sounds -blam!- but i like it)

Ok so,in the end of halo 3,Master Chief,Cortana and the arbiter destroy the ark (obliterating the flood),ok,so i thought this was VERY stupid,i mean, the forerunners killed all living life and when the robots that took care of the galxy calculated the flood should have starved, they openned the embrios and repopulated all the planets (according to halo legends),well, how comes that the flood,a specie SO intelligent that it survived to starvation to rise again and be one of our problems on the halo saga, was SO stupid to send all the forces to the ark,so you can't kill the flood that way,i mean,Gravemind was so intelligent, such a thinker and an estrategus, that he just wouldn't have sent himself to the ark just to obviously die,he would have left some flood in other places of the galaxy, and also, the flood came in pods from space, coming from great charity,so,if the flood consumed whole worlds, how comes all flood met at a coffe shop and got on the great charity to go to their obvious destruction?

what do you think?

so far i say the flood are still alive.

Your wording is completely incoherent, I can't understand what you're asking.

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

He's saying why did the flood send everything they had to the Ark.
It's pretty simple, the Flood are intelligent, but they're also impulsive. And a victory at the ark was all important. The risk of losing at the ark was too great. All or nothing for the flood. That is why they sent everything.

Spark also notes after shutting down Tower 3:
"The Ark is out of range of all the active installations! Priority - we must contain this outbreak!"

The Flood being on the Ark is the worst thing that can happen really, they're at a place beyond the range of the Halos where they can destroy the place which simultaneously fires all the Halos.

ok,ok,my english is horrible but i did worse than usual...

yeah,i meant that if the flood are so intelligent they had no reason to do such an impulsive action, but like Cheeto666 said, they probably did it because of the great controll it gave them, aslo,if the secure the ark, noone can activate the halos simultaniously to kill the flood again.

but maybe the flood are stil lalive, maybe, gravemind didn't send out every single flood form in the galxy...muahaha?

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Had the Flood won at The Ark, they would have been able to dominate the galaxy completly.

It´s not really surprising that they sent everything they had to fight at The Ark and take it over, after all, it was outside the Halo Array firing range, something the Flood relished for a long time.

Ok, first off, Halo 3 never indicated that the Ark was destroyed. And the reason the Flood survived is because the Forerunners placed samples of the Flood on the Halos and possibly other Forerunner installations. So the Flood are still alive, because there is more Forerunner stuff out there that could contain them. Oh, and it's called High Charity, not Great Charity.

The Gravemind has been defeated, but he can never be killed, so yeah, he'll be back eventually. And it makes complete sense to send everything he had to the Ark, I mean the Ark is essentially the biggest threat of all time to the Flood because you don't actually have to be present on the various installations to activate the Halo array. If the Gravemind can gain control of the Ark, he can stop the Halo array from ever being fired again.

It was stated in the art of halo 3 or some other book that the ark was destroyed and ravaged by fires. bungie also commented on that.

It has never been said that he nor the flood could be killed.

1) The Flood is not destroyed. Halo Wars and, likely, the Legendary planet hint that other planets still exist fully controlled by the Flood.

2) The Gravemind, listed as a Transsentient (or, demi-god, maube full god), has appeared thus far to be completely incapable of dying.

If the Prisoner=Gravemind, he's survived, what? At least 2 Halo blasts, maybe 3, got incinerated by the Covenant fleet, the Forerunner fleets as well way back when, got nuked by the Master Chief on High Charity, and survived for several million years in captivity with no food or water to speak of.

This son of a -blam!- just doen't die. And believe me when I say, he has a fail safe. What we saw in the games was just a small infestation.

Gravemind might be destroyed, but it is VERY likely the Flood has a big reserve of troops beyond the edges of the Galaxy. After all: Flood came from outside of this galaxy after the previous Gravemind had been defeated by the Forerunners and the Flood retreated from this Galaxy.

Then there is Delta Halo: there are still Flood on there.
Halo Wars showed it is possible there are still Flood inside Shield Worlds too.

But the "Halo 3 is confusing" line sort of holds, if not for the Flood. Most dialogue in the cutscenes was way too soft and overshadowed by the music, Covie point of view missing also made the story too one dimensional for what it tried to tell us...

Anyways: Flood is still out there. I wouldn't be suprised if there is a new Gravemind ready to take revenge on Humanity for what they did to the Flood. Chief just delivered the biggest blow to the Flood since the Forerunners almost defeated them. But one Flood spore is all it needs to survive and come back.

Seth Burns =)

If they lost the Ark, they'd lose everything. It's either send half your people to stop everyone on the ark and maybe win, but if not you'll die, or send everyone and probably win, suffering heavy losses but you wouldn't be wiped out. They could have done it too, except they forgot about a guy named Master Chief.

Like the Daleks, he's a villain we will never see the end of. :P

Hell, Gravemind even tells us that defeat on Installation 04B would merely be an "addition to time" before he returns.

They don't have any reserves the gravemind sent everything under his control to the ark. though it is obvious that other installations do still contain flood samples.
Don't take halowars so literal, there might be a few (under 5) shield worlds contaminated by the flood don't make it seem like dozens are. Until we find out exactly how that shield world was infected (cryptum 2 *cough*) we shouldn't state there are other infected onyx's.

1. There was no indication that the legendary planet is infected not to mention it wouldn't make sense for MB to send MC there. And as i said before we shouldn't assume other shield worlds are infect because we have 1 single account of that.

2. Assuming that the flood are only present in this galaxy. If we were to destroy every forerunner installation housing the flood, every sample of the flood, and then NOVA bomb the gravemind; the flood would be officially gone.
the only reason it seems like we can't kill it is because there are dozens of installations across space that have flood and possible several of them are contaminated.
So while we kill one gravemind another could give rise in another space and claim to be the same one due to our genetic memory theroy, thus they seem invincible.

3.Cryptum implies that if you were on the rings (old installations atleast) that you wouldn't be harmed or they have a tuning for that.Huhh? the forerunners planned but never fought the mind due to MB defecting, the covenant never fought the gravemind directly and neither did MC or humanity.
