Arbiter or Miranda and Johnson would never had got to the control room and Tartarus would have fired the ring. Everyone would have died.

The elites didn't really join the UNSC. It was more of an enemy of my enemy type thing. Anyway minor nitpicks aside the rings could've been fired on two separate occasions, on delta by Tartarus and Truth on the ARK.

Earth would've been consumed by the flood or glassed by either the loyalists or seperatists. The UNSC would have been devestated to the point where they could only scatter and hide.

In the end Truths plans would have worked so the covenant wins

They did not join the UNSC. They simply declared a ceasefire. The aided the UNSC, not join them.

But really, you know how Dr. Halsey calls the discovery of a halo ring a game changer on the level of the conical bullet? The entire reason Halo is that is because it caused the elites to leave the covenant.

The elite split was the single most important and game changing result of finding halo. Without that happening the covenant would have "won".
