It shouldn't explode unless you shoot at it, even with small shots.

If they explode by themselves it doesn't affect the achievement.

^ I advise to just not look at them also.

how i got the achievement was i overcharged a plasma pistol and then shot it at them when i locked on. as long as u hit them before they self detonate, should be fine

Good Samaritan, not Naughty Naughty.

This is a RETICULE, and that is a RETICLE. I'm using the latter to aim. And what are you using?

I'm not sure if killing Engineers accompanying Brutes and other Covenants actually count towards that achievement. Killing Engineers that are on their own or only with other Engineers definitely counts, though.

My advice: Do not attack any Engineers at all. If faced with Covie troops that have an Engineer with them, take out the Brutes first. Once the last Brute of a squad dies, the Engineers will explode by themselves. For that reason alone I'd play on Normal or Heroic and not on Legendary when trying to get the Good Samaritan achievement. Taking out Brutes under protection of an Engineer's overshield on Legendary is a bit tricky. It's not impossible, but you're making it unnecessarily hard on yourself.

Been a long time Halo/Bungie fan, and always will be.

I never bothered to get it. Too much work. (I know, a 6hr story.)

Do you like Yax? I do.

The easiest way to get this achievement is to speed run the game on easy. When you're in the city at night just avoid enemies. It doesn't matter if you kill Engineers in missions, you just can't kill them in the city at night.

We Are The Meta.

Took me ages to get this, kept running into them when I was searching for the terminals.

Helped my little bro on Heroic, and got it for him within 24 hours, feel bad that I didn't get it like that for myself.

Crazy thing is my older bro wasn't even aware of the achievements till he shot one by accident, 6 months after launch day.

Easy way is to run straight through the game on easy/normal, avoid all chances of running into Engineers and watch for the achievement after Kikowani Station (if you do the game in linear narrative.)

Bacon and eggs and eggs and bacon

You get it by going through New Mombasa at night without killing any Engineers. Once the cutscene for the start of Data Hive plays, and you're in the first room, it should tell you that you got the achievment (considering you haven't killed any Engineers).
