look at the bottom of your halo disc. i will bet you a penny there is a nice big gash in it. if there isnt, then your cd drive has some major issues.

Did you try cleaning your Halo CD first? Perhaps there is some dust covering the tracks on the CD.

Since you have plenty of spaces on your HD (Hard Drive) try to copy all the contents of the Halo CD into a file directory (e.g. C:\Halo\). If an error occurs when you are copying the files from the CD to your HD, sadly it might mean that your Halo CD is scratch/damaged or your CDROM might have some issues. You might find out if it is a problem with your CDROM when you try to install Halo on a different computer with a different CDROM, (besides what are friends for).
If you are able to copy halo to your HD without a problem, you may try to install it from there, (assuming that you have a Windows OS just do start/run and in the text field write C:\Halo\setup.exe, if you copied all the files to C:\Halo\ directory) and try doing a full installation, however you will still need the Halo CD in your CDROM to run the game, remember what the CD KEY is for. After the successful installation you may delete the copy of the Halo CDROM is your HD.
If your Halo CD is damaged, you may use a friend's copy of the game for the installation, use your CDKEY not your friend's and then run the game with your Halo CD, luckily it might work.
