Subject: Flawless.bungie.net - Did I miss something?

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

Well, I was clicking around the forums and I happened to notice the address bar had gone from the regular "www.bungie.net" to www.flawless.bungie.net"...

I recreated the steps I took until I noticed this, and the occurrence did not repeat. Is this common knowledge that am I just becoming privy to, or something new?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

My guess it has something to do with load balancing.

I play for fun and armory completion. :)

Same thing happens with admin.bungie.net.

Found this randomly one day. It stays too.

You can access it by replacing "www" with "Flawless".

  • 05.29.2011 7:48 PM PDT

Maybe it's something special users use on Bungie.net. Like someone like Achronos so he can go in and fix something? IDK

I use flawless when regular bungie.net stops working (usually after having router problems) and I can't be bothered to fix it. I think I first found out about it during a google search.. or something

I'm gonna type in flawless.bungie.net to see what happens...

EDIT: I'm on flawless.bungie.net. Nothing is different, except the URL.

Left here a long time ago.

Apparently, "admin" functions normally -- but somewhat slower, possibly because it checks your permissions every pageview -- for ordinary users, but displays administration-related content to those with the proper permissions. "Flawless" likely does something similar.

If that's true, then stosh is being messy, leaving his crumbs all over the interwebz for people like us to find. Unless of course he is dropping them deliberately in order to lead us to a house made entirely of candy. In which case, well played sir. Well played indeed.

"Possibly" should just be taken out. That is why. I actually think that admins can't use their tools without using admin.bungie.net.

There's also seventhcolumn.bungie.net.

Subdomains, how do they -blam!- work?

http://bungie.net
http://admin.bungie.net
http://downloads.bungie.net
http://flawless.bungie.net
http://halo.bungie.net
http://seventhcolumn.bungie.net
http://www.bungie.net

The reason you got to a subdomain of Bungie.net thats not admin or www is because some people think it's "cool" or something to use other subdomains and when they link in posts it will be a link to the subdomain they are using.

For example I remember a user telling me he uses admin because he's a moderator in a group.

I was disappoint.

Subdomains serve different purposes on different sites. For Bungie.net admin is for moderators to use their tools and other sekrets.

Should we care what flawless is? Nope. That's also the most likely answer to the question "Will the webteam say what it is?".

You are all loved beyond measure.
I, like you, am a light-sound-vibration complex that resonates with others. I have hopes and dreams and ambitions, just like you! I AM, and so are you! Yes, we are one and the same, you and I.

We were all perfect from the very beginning.

Actually, it was: "It was we who made man. We made you flawless from the very beginning; you were the second son." And then he vanished (or depending on where you are at: left; disappeared) in a flash.
