I am the voice of reason... It's why I keep my mouth shut

Finish it, what would you like to see done in the Halo franchise? Be it books, games, movies or toys, boardgames... anything you can think of.

Me, I'd personally like to see a live action movie, but I'd also really like to see Rooster Teeth make a feature-length Red Vs Blue film. Now THAT I would pay money for.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

I'd like to see the Spartan III's get more recognition as soldiers instead of the blind hate they get from the Spartan II fans.

Is it a good roll or a bad roll?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

As long as people only skim Ghosts of Onyx and not understand the big picture, it won't happen sadly.

In many ways, Spartan III's are far more capable than II's. They have preconceived notions of authority that allow them more of a mind of their own and come from the pits of society where they've had to learn to survive on their own, as opposed to the II's who were drilled from a very young age to follow the chain of command and come from more comfortable lives and proper families. The II's are conceptually more 'robotic' than the III's... they still know how to think on their feet, as any good soldier should, but they lack the capacity to disobey if they deem it appropriate to do so.

EDIT: have read Ghosts... I'm a Halo story buff, I'm pretty sure I know most of it, but I learn something new here and there so I won't claim to know everything

Nice to see someone who has read the books and doesn't side with the Spartan II's automatically. I think we will be good friends.

The difference between III's and II's is a fine line, and mostly just a few extra drugs and cheaper equipment for the III's. Kurt made sure that Noble was 'equipped as Spartans' when they were initially deployed. Also, point in fact, neither Mendez nor Kurt approved of Ackerson's idea of 'Cheap Spartans', and made sure that the III's had training that was on par if not better than that initially given the II's. Remember, each group trained is trained slightly better than the last, based on the learning curve of trial and error. It's possible that in basic hand-to-hand combat, a late-batch Spartan III could easily out-do an early-batch (only batch) Spartan II, simply based on improved training methods.

The spartan 3s are really better. They can take more shots with the thing kurt gave them. They just got worse armor. (SPI)
Unless they were spec ops (like noble)

No, they can only take as many shots as it takes to kill someone. The difference is, a Spartan II with a severe chest wound would feel it, and likely be partially or totally incapacitated (outta the fight, dead or alive), whereas a Spartan III wouldn't even notice and would just keep fighting, as I believe Thom did at the end of Ghosts, and just dropped dead in the middle of combat because he wasn't entirely aware he was wounded to the point where he should stop fighting. This can actually be detrimental to the longevity of Spartan III's, which is why II's would live longer in direct confrontation.

Hey, who twisted my thread from a discussion about the padding the Halo franchise to one about the pros and cons of different types of Spartan? :p Your IIIs have had their recognition... moving on now please

Live action film would be good, but it would have to bee done right. I'm talking big name production company, decent cast and crew, director and a budget the size of Transformers.

Rooster Teeth have already made 3 feature length movies, Reconstruction, Recreation and Revelation. They are effectivly movies, they just released then in chapters on the internet because thats what they did with the Bloodgulch Chronicles, which were more like a series.

Toys are cool i guess, I might get 1 Mcfarlane action figure a year at most, if it looks realy awsome, but i'm 19 and have better thing to be spending my money on like a car to get myself to work.

As for the Halo megablocks, if they had come out 10 years ago, I brobably would have bought every thing the brought out, but now...

The books are great, looking forward to Greg Bear continuing his Forrunner Saga, Karen Traviss has some stuff in the pipe line :)
But I would realy like to see a novel centered around Noble team. It would start right at the begining on Onyx and show them as they became spartans, and how thy were chosen to become Noble team.
Thom would die at the end (like in the Deliver Hope trailer) and the epilogue would esentialy be the cutscene at the begining of Reach.

Thom wasn't in the Deliver Hope trailer... Noble Six was the guy with the Jetpack. It's got Kat, who the trailer follows, and a glimpse of Jorge with his machine gun and Jun with his sniper rifle... but not Thom. Thom is from Ghosts of Onyx.

That wasn't Noble 6...Several reasons.

That wasn't on Reach.
Kat had a robotic army before she met Noble 6.
Noble 6 met for the first time with Noble on Reach.

That's enough.

You're mixing them up, the Spartan in Deliver Hope was Thom, the original Noble Six. Tom on the other hand is the Spartan we read about in Ghosts of Onyx.

It was a trailer, for Reach. It was a dramatised representation for the purpose of selling the game.

It's not part of the story. The guy with the Jetpack is meant to be Noble 6... you can tell by the helmet he's represented with here which is the same as the one worn by the Jetpack Spartan in the Reach Trailer.

And why on earth would they represent Thom in a trailer for Reach?

once again... why would they put Thom in a trailer for a game about the Fall of Reach... and why wouldn't it be Reach in the trailer?? I think you're overemphasising the place the trailer has in the story of Halo. It simply has none. It's just a trailer, intended to sell copies of Halo: Reach.

Not as much of a story buff as you believe you are, then.

Tom (notice the lack of an 'h') is the character in Ghosts of Onyx, who, indeed, never received the Mark V [B] armour or even participated in the events that the trailer depicts (death of Thom, Kat losing her arm, which are canon-events, clearly).

Thom (with an 'h') is the character in that trailer. If you've read the information available on Reach's page here on B.net, you'll know that he was the old 'Noble Six'. His death occurs in that trailer. Two months later you (the new 'Noble Six') are drafted to Noble Team to fill his place.

Different characters.

After reading Ghosts of Onyx last summer, S-IIIs became one of my favourite parts of the lore. The opening chapter with Beta Company on Pegasi Delta was beautifully written, I even wrote a fan fiction about a group of Spartan-IIIs going through years of training leading up to their inevitable deaths during Operation TORPEDO.
