Subject: Do the Spartans have religions?

I was just thinking about that, and I was wondering. Do they have religions, or are they too busy to think about it? I had an idea that if they believe in a higher power, than they might be Deist. What do you guys think?

I dont think so, I cant recall it ever being mentioned. I imagine they are aware of religions, especially in the context of war, but its not a necessity for a soldier so wouldnt be preached to them.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Doubt it. War is all they know. They may have learned of religion during Deja's classes. She taught them about history and religion is apart of history.

i am 13 and i enjoy halo so much i want to join the BUNGiE team someday. I even created my own 7 step plan to world domination. BUNGiE just seemes like the greatest place on Earth to work. even if im not making Halo games.

I doubt they were exbposed to any beliefs because of their obduction at such an early age and the SPARTAN program was making warriors, not just church goers.

*Sigh* Of course, to be religious that means you have to go to church every week right?

No.

Christianity, Islam and Judaism aren't the only religions dumbass.

some religions promote violence, and some understand that it must be done so they have riles for it.

Actually, the SPARTAN-II program did have organized religion:

1. I am the HALSEY your Doctor who took you away from your families, from the house of happiness. You shall have no other authority before Me.
2. Thou shalt not make any graven image of thy A.I. Cortana.
3. Thou shalt not swear falsely by the name of ONI.
4. Thou shalt remember weapons maintenance day, and keep it holy.
5. Thou shalt always honor myself and Mendez.
6. Thou shalt murder all Covenant.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultry, as thou hath no sex drive since augmentation anyway.
8. Thou shalt not steal from Kelly; she will surely catch thee.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness againt anybody except Kurt; he's annoying and talks too much.
10. Thou shalt not covet Fred's knives; he'll kill thee with them.

Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I highly doubt it.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

Well if they do I think it would be Zen, or something like that.
Some might even just be atheist, simply because they were abducted as child and subsequently never introduced to the societal fear of death (which is were religion originates).

Religion will most certainly be gone by that time.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Jun was pretty Zen about stuff, "I kill the enemy, but do not hate him."

That's more morality than religion though, still a good point.

I think some of them probably did have religion, it definitely won't be gone.

If they do have a religion, they keep quiet about it.

I personally think so, but I don't have any proof because religion can be whatever you want it to be.

I would think religion would be a problem during the early part of their training. After all, a child who was in a religious family would be a hard habit to break. I'm guessing, but I would imagine Fhajad is from a Muslim family, breaking the 3x a day prayer may have been hard at first.

Then again, they being so young they could have been almost relieved to break the habit. Surely they knew about religion though.

I don't think it's impossible, but I kinda doubt it. I'm sure they were taught about all the different important religions by Dejah, but I can't say if any of the Spartans are actually believers of any specific religion.
