Subject: How would non Spartans, and ODST aim the assult rifle?

I'm 18 right now. My hobbies are drawing, outdoor stuff, building stuff, video games, and reading. I would like to become a welder, or get my CDl license to become a truck driver, and drive around country.

Sense the assault rifle has no sights on it. How would normal soldiers that don't have a
HUD aim with it?

Does it have a setting that's like the sniper rifles scope? You know the real time video fed back that the sniper rifle uses.

Standard issue implant and helm pops up a reticule.

So it would pop up the reticule instead of the ammo counter that's on the gun?

No, the HUD would be exactly like a Spartan's.

Not exactly, but they would have a reticule. Ammo counter wouldn't change at all.

Spartans have both, but do you look at your HUD counter or the ammo counter?

We should know better, because we are better.

When you have enough DAKKA accuracy is an optional extra.

In all likely hood, the weapons are probably linked to the visor seen on marine helmets throughout the games.

I look at my ammo counter. Because that's the location I'm looking at do to the radical being in front of it.

That's true. But some Marines don't have a visor.

I'm pretty sure they have a chip in their head that causes them to see a HUD. I think that is standard for all military personnel in the UNSC.

So the chip would be the Neural Interface.

The marines all have optic implants, but it is stated that the gun has flip up iron sights just in case.

You can see the implants being done in the Landfall trailer, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, because something that helps you see stuff goes into the shoulder...

I think that it is just a ID chip.

And you can't see anything in the back of the head of any marine in any game. And in Halo 2 all guns had scopes or iron sights, no AR there. And in Halo 3 some marines had orange glasses.

Well then the next question is; how do Elites aim the assault rifle?

Um, just cause they have implants doesn't mean the back of their head is half-metal...

I think lord hood had the most visible implants, but it is stated that it is standard for marines to get an implant.

Where it is stated? I must say that everyone in the military having a brain surgery sounds weird, and why there are those glasses and eye-patches? (<- in lack of a better word, too lazy to open the translator)

You know the green eyepiece marines have in H1? That's how the view the HUD, either that or a neural interface. Although, the AR actually does have hidden iron sights, I'm guessing they're pop-up iron sights?

  • 05.31.2011 5:05 AM PDT

Now the real question is, what do the iron sights look like?

Its call advanced hud technology, have you noticed that almost every "non Spartans and ODST" ware glasses? The US Military is working today to create hud's which appear with in glasses, very similar to what you see in the Ghost Recon franchise. It is about 500 years into the future bro, just use you' imagination.

The standard interface is implanted in all UNSC military personnel upon activation, but it can be replaced with a more specialized neural lace should the need arise.

Yeah, seen that already. It doesn't have a source.
