As soon as I am done with my exam, I will screenshot H2 and post it here, to prove it is dead.

But seriously, you guys remind me of those Pokemon fanboys my skype friend trolled last week. They were unable to take criticism.

Oh, and BTW, Wreckoner and Zetren, Ben tried to 1v1 Dusk. He got pwnd. Because Dusk knows what he is talking about. Unlike you.

2 days ago I got on H2V and i saw ~80 players. Now unless you like to categorize a game as "dead" with 50+ players, then you aren't going to be a very successful photographer. Pokemon? Oh that's right I remember when you said u had to go to bed cuz ur parents restricted you from staying up after 9~10pm (this is when we you asked to play with CE/H2V with me). You need to stop sticking up for DusK, it's getting old.

You know that saying "who's more foolish - the fool, or the fool who follows him?"

Oh my God. Are you ACTUALLY arguing that a game with 80 players is not dead?

BRB, getting proof.

Unless you can travel back in time, I don't think you can take a screenshot of what I saw 2 days ago. Good luck, though. There are better words to describe the H2V population. Do you want to know what's dead? Orignal xbox live Halo 2 multiplayer. that's dead. One could simply describe H2V as having "little activity", or "slow". But dead? For from it, man.

And I doubt H2V will be dead any time soon, because like Wrecker said, the game is full of nostalgic players; players who play because of the title name and because of what it means to them, not because it's sub-par or not as good as other games.

Oh awesome so you took your time to make a youtube video showing how there were more than 80 people on a Wednesday. Thanks for helping to solidify my point :)

103 to be exact. I'm not concerned with 20 more players and I'm not sure anyone is.

  • 06.01.2011 2:52 PM PDT

103 players is actully a lot for a GFWL title; Shadowrun, Universe at war, and The Club are other GFWL games that I have which have a worse population.

  • 06.01.2011 2:59 PM PDT

That was an interesting read...everyone has their own tastes though right?

  • 06.01.2011 4:44 PM PDT

Wait a minute, I just realized I messed up counting. There IS less than 80. I counted the first page of servers twice, because when I clicked the down button, it just put me at the bottom of the page rather than the second page. I'll recount when I finish my work (I have finals as well).

Something smells fishy...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No need trying to convince people that your opinion is more correct than their's.

Now for my opinion: In PC game populations standards H2V has a very low population count. It's even lower than Halo: Combat Evolved PC. That's saying a lot because Halo: Combat Evolved PC is an older game by three years. I notice that the online multiplayer of PC games tends to become significantly less inhabited after a few years. I notice that the population of PC games dwindles over time and it tends to dwindle faster as newer games hit the market.

Now both H2V and Halo: Combat Evolved PC have a low population count but I must say H2V has a very low population count. I'm not saying that H2V does not consist of a population that is happy to play H2V all day. I'm sure the H2V population is content with everything about H2V.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Let me, again, welcome these three newcomers, who are laughably pretending to speak for the entire forum board population when they call me a "bully," to the forum.

*ahem*

Welcome to the Maw, Ben, WreckonerH, and Zetren. Enjoy your stay.

This right here is a great example of how PC gamers have significantly higher standards than console gamers, let alone console gamers pretending to be PC gamers playing console games pretending to be PC games.

Try saying that five times fast.

You actually think <100 people is some sort of thriving community? Reiterating my previous point about low standards here, yada yada.

Sorry bud, but i've been around these forums about as long as you have. It's just that I use ben2974 because it has my xbox stuff linked n' stuff.

And here AGAIN, you shove words down my throat. Never said anything about a thriving or growing H2V community. But you can "quote" me and change what I said to help bolster your epride if you would like. I'm sure you're used to doing that now.

No. You haven't. I've been here since '05. Before the name change. Before Halo 2. Before Halo 2oobs flooded the place.

You said the game's not dead. There's fewer then 100 players on at any given time. Cue laughter from every PC gamer alive.

Speaking for the entire forum? Not at all. All I've ever mentioned were my own interactions with you.

I've long stopped thinking of you as a bully, as I mentioned earlier.

A person trolling a game they hardly played a few years ago, every...single...day for what sounds like a few years? That is not bullying at all. That is a serious case of mental issues.

  • 06.01.2011 11:43 PM PDT

After the recent discussions that you guys were nice enough to post so I could preen out some responses and what everyone else's feelings were, I can say this.

The game is NOT DEAD. People do play it, it's fairly easy to find a game.

My beef with H2V is that every game is either random weaps, fiesta, or swords. Nobody sets up normal gametypes and gameplay is completely random nonsense. There is 0 competitive play. Not even Cloud CTF, where everyone sucks with the sniper yet gets cheap 2 piece spam shots even with the ridiculously easy hitboxes in Halo 2. No effort needed, but they still get a kill. And then theres the lovely campers at the tops of the towers of power and the lifts that totally blow away the game when they pick up a sword or shotty, to which nobody can answer since everyone spawns with only BRs and Snipers.

I'm just going to de-install the game, considering the multiplayer was nothing I find enjoyable. I play Halo for a fast but logical, competitive, and outright fun time. I find no fun in being randomly blown up by some dinosaur that won the lottery and spawned with a damn rocket launcher, or some asshat camping a teleporter with a sword that he, as well, spawned with, or somebody who can't headshot with any weapon to save their fertility.

Im not saying the way Halo 2 runs right now is wrong 100%, some people ENJOY games with random B.S. from beginning to end (cough cough MW2 cough cough), but that just isn't for me. We all like what we choose to like I suppose.

Thanks for the sensible discussion, forum.

DusK is correct that the H2V population is low. That is indisputable.

Oh, and I highly doubt he has mental issues. I actually take offense to you saying that he has mental issues therefore I dub you a bully also.

I stand by what I said earlier:

Seriously....who plays a game for 50 matches (what's that, just a few hours?) and then whines about the game for months, possibly years, on end?

With that said, I initially came into this topic to help a guy out with the game, I did not come here to be a shrink to head cases.

x0v3rKiLx, I completely understand where you're coming from and agree with everything you said. Finding a game is not difficult, however, so many people play weird gametypes.

I'm just like you. I really wanted to play regular, normal gametypes but most of the time if I want to do that I have to set up the room myself then. I don't mind 9/10 times but every once in a while when I ask what people want to play next I get like 5 different requests lol.

If you still have your original xbox, or even a 360, I recommend looking into computer programs called XBConnect and Xlink. What these programs do is basically make your xbox think it is connected to another xbox through system link, but in fact it is connected online.

Through these programs you can play both Halo 1 and Halo 2 online, without xbox live and for free. Last I checked there are a lot of people playing Halo 2 (Halo 1 not so much).

Hope that helps.

Every other server: Some of them have good gametypes like MLG or Team Slayer, but they're all empty...

Really, Ben? Nothing about H2V's population was in the OP? Nothing at all?

Ya know, it would take much fewer games than that to realize the game's crap. Honestly, if it takes you more than a small handful of matches to see what a game's like, you're the one with mental problems. I realized it after my 5th match or so. The other games were me giving the game a chance. Considering it was a sequel to one of my favorite games, and sequels are generally better than their predecessors, I figured maybe I got a bad luck spree and ended up in some really crappy matches in a row. Turned out, that wasn't the case. The game's just really bad.

I have more experience with XBConnect. Back in the day before xbox live I used XBConnect. I downloaded the program recently and there are still ton of Halo 2 games being played.

But like you, I heard that recently Xlink Kai is more popular now. I guess it can't hurt to try both?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. One of my all-time favourite games. I did not like the sequel. I was disappointed and complained about the game when it first came out sure, but you know what happened really quick after that? I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT IT!

I didn't talk about it, nor did I have any interest in it. The game was boring and was not worth my attention. I kept playing the original, talking about it, and even when the sequel came into the discussion I would not berate people who liked it. I thought to myself "meh, the game just wasnt for me. Glad someone else got enjoyment out of it though."

But you know what, at this point I don't even know if I should be giving you a hard time. I mean this with the utmost sincerity. I hope you understand I do not want to be a jerk to you. But from what I see you doing I really don't think this is normal...

Here is an idea, if you see a post you don't like or agree with, don't post in it DusK. That would make us all happier as trolling would not start, fanboyism would not start, and raging would not start from both sides. As members before me have already stated:

We
Know
Halo
2
Vista
Has
A
Low
Population,

Every second post here keeps stating that, and we all get the -blam!- picture

EDIT: Oh I too would like it if we accepted eachothers diffrences and stoped all this fighting. Most threads on this forum end up with some sort of argument to do with halo 2 (and usually involve DusK for that matter).

Here's an idea, Zetren. If I say H2 is crap, don't get all butthurt. :)

Besides, population is just the tip of the iceberg in regards to how bad of a game H2V is.
