First off--I am not a pro (nowhere near one), but the word "pro" made the title seem very catchy...you know, for propaganda.

Second...although it doesn't seem like it, the rocket launcher does require quite a bit of skill in order to appropriately lead your shots and kill someone. But the reward is great in the end.

Part 1: How to dodge rockets
A skilled player using the RL would lead his shot in the direction that you're running in. This can be tough to avoid. Whenever faced with a rocket guy, always STRAFE; FACE him so you know when he fires a rocket.
Usually, when someone is about to launch one, they'll jump in the air to get a good ground-shot. As soon as they jump, while you're still strafing, immediately jump in the opposite direction of the direction you're strafing in. Then unleash fire, throw grenades, etc.
A good strategy would be to be ABOVE the rocket guy so his jump shot won't work.

I'll post more on how to lead your shot successfully. If anyone has any input, feel free.

One problem--- when facing a skilled player (as you said), you wouldn't know if they had a RL. A skilled veteran knows to keep out their other weapon so that no one knows they have it. The challenge is to know how a player might act if they are setting themselves up for a rocket strike. They may have one, they may not. You never know. If you think you will be killed by them, get in close. If you have plasma grenades, aim and throw. If not, throw a fragmentation grenade at your feet in close, so that after shooting them a bit, they will go down with you.

Skill is not having to be close to anybody when that rocket is sent off. Skill is firing a rocket at the warthog with the flag in it from the top of infinity and hitting him about 10 seconds later. The trick is to not let ther person/vehicle ever know what is about to bring them a bloody death. I am my clans top RL player. And as one of the leaders is occasionally saying, LUCKY. And as players are constantly saying, MODDER. Hehe.

To avoid this, like the above, make occasional random movements when travelling with vehicles. I have had plenty of times where rockets just whizz past the windshield or tank canopy...
Also, if you're in a rl vs rl match, and there is no interference (ie anyone else) you can stay far away and let the other guy waste his ammo, and then charge in.
