Back to Halo 3. Wake me up when Halo Reach can live up to its full potential!

On the site of 343i, they give you a very compact summary of the Halo-story. At the end, the narrator says one sentence that did it for me: "The current status of the other six Halo's is UNKNOWN..." That did it for me. The Halo Universe is not ready to die. There is so much more to tell. So many Halo's undiscovered... We have to visit them.

And... maybe there are some other crazy alien living forms that want to kill our favorite hero!

Halo 4, just happen already!

I'm a bit done with going to other Halos in the games again. Seen 2 of them, and got some ideas on how the others could be from the holograms in H3 (The Covenant level). Been there, done that.

However, Forerunners left a lot more goodies to be discovered. Its a shame Reach never let us explore the Forerunner ruins they found for instance. Who knows what we could have found there? It would also have brought back the sense of exploring something unknown.

I mean this is just a short list of stuff Forerunners left behind:
- Halos
- Shield Worlds
- Star Maps
- "Random" Ruins on planets colonized by the UNSC (Côte D'Azur and Reach -> CASTLE Mountain for instance)
- Forerunner Crystals
- Dyson Spheres
- The Ark
- Their homeworlds (H3 Legendary Ending for instance)

So much more stuff that can be explored in the games, keeping the Forerunners technology in the games, but avoiding the cliches of yet another Halo that has the be fought over with...big suprise: Flood popping up, etc.

  • 05.31.2011 11:53 AM PDT

Wait, there's 7 Halos.

Chief destroyed one in Halo CE.

Found a second one in Halo 2.

Went to the Ark in Halo 3, destroyed the replacement for Installation 04 (from Halo CE).

So there should be 5 undiscovered Halos, not 6.

The Ark isn't a Halo Ring, it's something entirely different, it's well...an Ark :P

And there were seven Halo Rings before Chief destroyed Alpha Halo, Alpha Halo B does not count because it is essentially the same ring.

I think those latest waypoint videos are there to tease us for a Halo 4 announcement.

Nah, I don't think the planet from H3 legendary ending would be that great for a campaign. Too far out in dark space to see anything iconic to Halo (no UNSC/Covies, so also none of their weapons/vehicles). Possibly Flood there, but to fight them an entire game: nah...Sentinels? Mosty likely to be present. Forerunners? Perhaps, but fighting them?
1: Chief wouldn't stand a chance
2: Why would Forerunners all of the sudden turn against Chief and fight him?

Maybe a story about a non-Spartan team, or a Grey Team for instance finding a smaller, less "Coruscant-like" Forerunner planet (so not a total city planet), a lot closer to UNSC/Covie space would be better. You would still have the unknown, but also the iconic elements of Halo.

Same goes for the Dyson Sphere...what do you want to do in there? Best to leave Legendary Planet and GoO Dyson Sphere for the books. But maybe find alternatives for a game.

Leaving the legendary planet for the books would be a major -blam!- you to the fanbase, most of the fans never read a Halo book.

You don't know what will happen on that planetw,ho knows Chiefs gets FR weapons and all that stuff.

I dunno, that's why i'm excited for Halo 4 cause we don't know what will happen there except some hints.

I'm excited,i hope E3 won't dissapoint us

And then? Who do you want to fight then?

It would be nothing like Halo was and is....and most of this Community treats the word "change" as some form of STD or whatever.

Even for me, and I do appreciate a change in Halo, this step would be too far and too risky. Too much reeking of an upcoming fail.

Also: real fans read the books. They should.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I'm guessing that Master Chief will have to travel to the Forerunner's homeworld and activate a self destruct switch for the Halo Rings. It could involve things like the deactivation of Shield Worlds which would bring back the surviving spartans.

Halo 4: The Last Remnants.

The story of Kurt, Kelly and all the others. Maybe a bit non-canon with some Covenant, but the games has to be interesting enough.

Well the forunners could be pissed that we blew up two halos and the ark and many sentien life. So possible revenge plot.

Fight the Flood, but in their proper form.

They've only ever been a side enemy, and treated as such. But their biological potential can make for literally infinite variations in forms and uses, making them an ever changing and adapting enemy.

That was by design. Most stories are left at least somewhat open-ended. You see it in movies, games, books, everywhere. If you create a hit then you're going to want to be able to create that sequel in order to generate more profit from the title. And you do that by leaving a unfinished story. Bungie did it exceptionally well early on and was able to successfuly turn Halo into a franchise. The story will never be fully finished with all our questions answered.
