Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

-Awesome storyline
-Likeable characters
-Mombasa Streets FTW!
-Firefight being about survival
-Sadie
-Complete Halo 3 MP
I just told you why I like ODST, how about you tell everyone why you dislike it.

...Really?

Besides that, you don't even provide any explanations as to why you think ODST "sucks."

Troll harder.

I went back to replay ODST for the first time since Reach came out last week whilst dealing with my untimely banning and credit reset. The best thing about that nonsense was going back and rediscovering ODST. It's a masterpiece really...the mix of classic halo with a noir feeling is uncannily awesome. Hate to disagree with you mate but I think it's a solid entry into the series, and I personally dig it more than I liked 3, which don't get me wrong is awesome as well. ODST has a cool unique feeling that I hope comes back to the series with the next one.

Jorge: Bad news is: timer's fried, gonna have to fire it manually.
Noble 6: That's a one way trip...
Jorge: We all make it sooner or later. Better get going, Six, they're gonna need you down there. Listen, Reach has been good to me, it's time to return the favor. Don't deny me this... Tell em' to make it count.

This is a RETICULE, and that is a RETICLE. I'm using the latter to aim. And what are you using?

Wham.

Double-wham.

If ODST had its own multiplayer matchmaking like the other Halo games (I don't mean the H3 multiplayer part but playing as ODSTs, having AutoMag and SMG in multiplayer, and maps that are "campaign-inspired", for the lack of a better term), it would most definitely be the absolutely best Halo game ever.

What? Everyone around where I live say it's the worst game, not the best of the Halo series. Anyways as everyone else said why do you think it sucks? I'm so happy that on Bungie.net there is a lot of people like me who appreciated ODST, and also thought that there was the unique "lonely" feeling while you were in the streets of the game.

<3 ODST. LOVE IT.

Isn't it funny that we who like ODST can give numerous reasons why we like it, yet those who don't like it are either unwilling or unable to tell us any reasons for their dislike?

  • 06.02.2011 5:43 PM PDT

Yes, but some people will say that ODST was overpriced, and campaign was too short, and that there was no new multiplayer. Who cares? I like ODST because of the campaign and firefight. And I don't have Halo 3, so having ODST was a bit of a steal. (Multiplayer maps)

I love how you can get away with these posts in the forums because no moderators give a d@mn about it.

ODST could have been alot better had they taken as much time on it as they took to make their REAL games. (ODST took a few months, all other halos each took 3 years to make.)

It sucks as a full out game, but if they kept it as DLC like they originally planned, it would have been a must-have DLC for halo 3.

"ODST is overpriced" is the most common complaint I heard. But I don't think it was overpriced since you got ODST campaign and firefight, and the whole H3 multiplayer experience along with all DLC maps. Of course, if you already had H3 and the DLC (like me), shelling out 60 bucks was a bit steep. But that has nothing to do with the quality of ODST in and of itself.

1) They took 14 months to make ODST, which is still quite a long time if you consider that unlike for "real games", they didn't have to first create the game engine and all the tools to actually make the game.

2) ODST was never planned as DLC.
G4: Was there ever any consideration made for releasing the game as a cheaper downloadable expansion for fans who had already purchased all the map packs?

CC: No, we never discussed that as an option. Though ODST was built from the Halo 3 engine, there were enough changes made to the engine that we could not have released it as an expansion in the way that you might equate with a PC game expansion pack. The ODST executable is not compatible with Halo 3.

may i add it was also a quick money bringer to help finance reach... but i do agree with you that ODST should have been much better then it is.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the money went to Microsoft and not Bungie. Also, it was the publishers, i.e. Microsoft's decision to release ODST with the H3 multiplayer disc so it could be priced as a full retail game. I do agree that this is actually a dick move on MS's part.

When I hear people complain about ODST, three things usually come up.

1."OMGZ Y I NO PLAY AS MAST3R CHEF???/!11!!one!!"
2."OMGZ Y NO MULTIPLA3R LIEK HALO THWEE?!"
3."It is not worth the sixty dollar price tag"

I personally loved having a new protagonist, since I never really cared for John (I never liked the generic action hero characters).

It wouldn't make sense for ODST to have things like Team Slayer. ODST uses the Halo 3 engine, it'd basically be the same game but with a different colored HUD and Health.

When I bought my Xbox 360, Target didn't have Halo 3 and I decided to buy ODST instead. It was great since I basically got both games for the price of one. However, I can see why people would complain if they already had all the map packs and were basically buying something they already owned.
