CAMPAIGN LEVEL

For example you might want to add a space level at the beginning of Halo 3 or a level where you fight the Gravemind in Halo 2. It would be something that doesn't change the overall story but does add content to the game and make it more awesome. You can add more than one level at different points of the games. What would you do? Who would you be (Chief/Arbiter)? What would it be called?

That's not what I meant, but great nonetheless.

A level in Halo 3 in which you would be trying to climb a skyscraper in order to reach a phantom on top to get away from the flood. You would be inside the tower and there would be flood crawling around in the dark. You look out of a fragmented vehicle only to watch a hornet being jumped on by tank forms. You get to the top and have an epic battle and escape and then detonating the building.

While I was reading that, I also happened to be listening to This is the Hour, so it make the level sound epic.

Yeah, we still believe in all the things that we stood by before.
I know, to everything we've seen here, maybe even more.
I know we're not the only ones and we were not the first.
And unapologetically we stand behind each word.

I'd like a level where your fighting the flood In a really dark building or ship. A place where you have to use your flashlight to even see. So naturally your view is restricted to that little space. And there will be the sounds of the flood all around and they would be dropping on you from the ceiling or popping around corners. I want it to be terrifying.

Ad eundum quo nemo ante iit

End of Halo 2. Fighting through all the different Species of Loyaltist Covenant to escape the Keyship.

  • 06.02.2011 4:34 AM PDT

We Are The Meta.

Halo: If remake does come, add in Engineers+Brutes/covie weapons. Original was brilliant but remake can add in all the extras that came after CE.

Halo 2: A section before the great schism (delta halo/mombassa) where Elites fight Brutes, other species watch (argument of who is in command=possibly the bodies in ODST).

Halo 3: Inside the Dreadnaught Forerunner ship before Chief lands on Earth.

A level between Cortana & Halo, last stand while flood over run last evac for humans and elites. Get more feel of Halo1 now Cortana's back. Might also have last remains of the loyalist forces of covenant.

Halo Wars: Level explaining how Red (Spartan) team got back to Reach from Spirit Of Fire. Would also have been cool to do a covie side to the story.

Halo 3 ODST: Another level for Mickey & Romeo.

Remeo"s about going up the skyscraper, sniping banshees/covies as they climb + stealth parts.

Mickey's about him laying charges and blowing up routes after pod landing near covie armour. Preventing Covenant from ambushing marines escape routes. Ends up alone, searching for other marines=leads into his other mission.

Dare level, her point of view after escaping her pod, heading underground to data hive.

Halo Reach: A level/playable section explaining the time gap between Long Night of Solace and reaching New Alexandria/or at least longer clip.

Level with Noble hijack Scarab through the ruins of New Alexandria, picking up other survivors from bunkers. Escape the city from advancing Covenant.

Extra piece defending Halsey up to pelicans, should have shown how Jun dies. (Not been mentioned since and still listed as KIA for whole of Noble Team+he was heading to CASTLE base which only had a handful of survivors.)

Then a section where your defending carter by shooting down banshees on the back of pelican.

Was expecting a level after the Pillar of Autumn, akin to Halo 1. Racing against the clock to a Longsword fighter, link up with Holland, escort him then Covenant ship glasses his ship. The debris crashes into Longsword, sending it back into the ground, right where you see the Autumn fly away. Dot can be heard, self-destructing since Covenant tried to access her data. Noble 6 then begins Lone Wolf.

I laugh at your pitifall attempts to defeat me!

A level where you actually explored the Forerunner ruins, in Reach, would have been nice; as well as a level that truly took advantage of the Jetpack. I was expecting some huge vertical structure, which you had to stealthily make your way up the sides; or for you to have to hop between various Covenant ships.

Fascinating...

In between Halo 2 and Halo 3. The cliffhanger part where John says " finishing this fight" while in the dreadnought. A level there interlinking the two games would be nice....

I wouldn't add any levels. I would just make most of the existing levels longer. That way I couldn't change the story too much while still giving us more to play.

  • 06.02.2011 11:20 AM PDT

1.) "Crack In Time" - Louder Production Music
2.) "Agressive Sucks" - Moss Landing
3.) Custom Version of "Meet Oscar" - Louder Productions Music
4.) "Behind You Rise" - Distortion Music
5.) "Aurora" - Mark Petrie
6.) "Surge Down - Audio Machine

I'd change tip of the spear by making it longer:

You actually get to fight in the charge cutscene.
It starts out normally, but your gunner gets killed, then you climb out passnger seat while warthog's moving, and then you take the turret for 5 min.
Goes to cutscene where Kat spots a giant bridge over a huge gap (Similar to the New Mombasa bridge from halo 2)
you continue to gun down covenant as you advance through the bridge. When you get about halfway, you see the end off the bridge get blown off by the covenant. You stop towards the edge and have a small firefight with covenant troops. Goes to cutscene to about 15 minutes after firefight, it shows you and Kat grappling to the top of the bridge. There you use a signal flare to flag down a falcon. You then use the turret similar as you did during that part of the mission. The mission then plays out like the rest.

One at the end of Halo 2....it should have ended with the chief fighting his way to the ship, not just a cut of him on the ship.

  • 06.02.2011 12:33 PM PDT

-ODST:
Should have had a level which featured a flashback of a soldier who wasn't part of Buck's team, but who was there during the daytimes when the invasion actually happened.
We would finally get to see a realy Covie invasion, with Covies slaughtering civilians, Covie ships bombing the city, UNSC being pushed back and back.

Kind of like Exodus was, but on a bigger scale set in New Mombasa.

- Halo 3:
Should have had a more similar level. Set on Earth in the ruins of Voi. Possibly some rescue camps with stranded civilians scattered throughout the ruins. Covies controlling the city more or less. Bit of a guerilla warfare amongst the ruins of Voi to push back the Covies towards the harbor district, where we would then get to play The Storm. So Tsavo Highway would end with entering Voi, then this level would follow, and then The Storm would begin.

- Reach:
It would have been better to have Halsey inside the Covie ruins, and we would have to enter those to get her out and escort her to the Pelican. So not really a new level, but big expansion on the current one.

Also: just to fit canon a bit better, I've always said the following:

Said this many times before but my idea would be like this:

----------------------------------------------
Instead of going to the PoA at the end of the level, you reach another Sabre launch site (or any launchsite with a Sabre dropped off for you there).
You hold your ground waiting for the Sabre to be ready to launch, similar to the regular version, and this is where Emile dies.

We should then have gone back into space for one final space battle. During this battle we would have seen the full blown Covie fleet fighting the UNSC with the Super MAC's etc.

Objective: Reach PoA which is in orbit over Reach. What follows is basically a space version of the classic Warthog Run, with us flying through wreckage, fighting Banshees and Seraphs.

"Halfway" there, a small cutscene starts: PoA has discovered a repair dock to still have intact coördinates to Earth and the Covies on their way to it. You as the player are the one closest to it and are ordered by Keyes to go there and hold ground until reinforcements arrive. (This would be the first time hearing Keyes again).

You get to the dock, and enter. This is basically where a revised version of Lone Wolf starts. You, alone, in an abandoned and party destroyed dock without gravity, with Reach falling in the distance (radio chatter confirming that and Covie ships swooping in on Reach through the MAC barriers).
You hold your ground but like Lone Wolf: you WILL die.

Cutscene:
Your dead body drifts through the room, Covie still around it. And...BAM! Chief and Linda enter the room, kill the Covies and Linda gets wounded. Chief takes Cortana from your dead body, engages Cole Protocol on the dock and takes Cortana and Linda back to PoA.
Small part with Keyes then looking at a doomed Reach and they're off for their blind slipspace jump.

Entering Alpha Halo system and credits start rolling.

------------------------------------

A better tie in with the books, a cameo from Chief, another space battle this time with an actual war going on around you, Cortana still being delivered to PoA, Keyes still having a cameo, you still dying in a hopeless situation = more win than the actual ending.

  • 06.02.2011 12:49 PM PDT

I am the God Emprah of Mankind.

Deal with it.

Halo CE: The UNSC base on Halo, when they were fighting off the covenant forces and the flood's attack on that base.(can't remember the name.)
Halo 2: Forerunner tank level sounds super awesome.

  • 06.02.2011 12:50 PM PDT

In the level Cortana (Halo 3) when you're blowing up the generator things (to destroy High Charity) there should have been a boss battle. While destroying the generators you must evade Gravemind who is attacking you with his tenticles and occasionally spawning tank forms. The generators should also take about 2-3 grenades depending on the difficulty.

ALSO

In the level the Great Journy in Halo 2, Half Jaw mentions re-capturing a covenant Carrier now under control by the loyalists (possibly Shadow of Intent?). It would have been cool if we played as Arbiter or even Half Jaw retaking the carrier.

I don't think i could add anything to Halo and Halo 2.

Halo 3

I would have turned Tsavo Highway and The Storm in to one BIG mission.

I would also have made Floodgate longer.

Halo Reach

Instead or fighting your way to The POA, the Autumn is actualy fighting is space, just after picking up Johnson and the MC from Gamma station, close to the top of an orbital elervator.

Once you reach the elervator, you ride to the top, where you hold out for keys to arrive in a Pelican.

This is where you get to fire the Mass Cannon at the Covies in space.

Keys tells you that he can't make it in the Pelican as there is too much fighting, informing you that there is an intact Saber crashed on your station.

You fight your way to the Saber, take off, leaving Emile on the Gun.

Once you get to the POA, you are greated by Keys, Johnson and John, who offer you to come with them, but you decline and say that you will give them cover as they escape Reach.

After the POA jump in to slipspace, you head back to the Orbital Elevator which is being ravaged by the Covenant to save Emile.

Once you have Emile, you find a covenant bomb (the same from Halo 2). As you run back to the Saber, Emile getts killed by a zealot, simmilar to how he dies in Reach.

Just as you board the Saber, the station detonates and your Saber crashes down to the planets surface, and the Lone Wolf mission starts.

No "New Halo game" will ever be the same without Bungie.

Whatever you do, don't give up!
-Vic DeLeon, GDC 2008

Someone on Bungie.net typed up a short story about how master chief would wake up from cryo sleep on a uncharted fore runner world.

Definately something I wanted to play. :]

  • 06.02.2011 2:06 PM PDT

-Seriously, who uses a signature?

the levels that were cut out of halo 2.

apparently chief was supposed to board the ship not drop a bomb on it. and arbiter walked quite a bit before getting caught by the gravemind.
