I am submitting (most of)an original post that I already have elsewhere, in "Subject: Credit Resets" thread. I decided to start an entirely new thread, because the original was immediately overshadowed by one which directly proceeded mine (and apparently flamed everyone).
I would really like to know what I may do about this situation, though, so that's why I'm trying again:
I was playing an MP slayer match on Affinity. Almost immediately after my first spawn, I felt gunfire on my back. I turned around and saw a teammate shooting squarely at me. I thought, "Oh, great. Someone doesn't like Affinity." I was prepared to implement my usual policy of not booting (thereby forcing him to suck it up and quit, if he was going to be such a baby about it). But then he stopped, and we were nevertheless both killed.
Huh. Maybe it was just a fluke...
...no such luck.
Much to my confusion and dismay, after our next spawn, he proceeded to shoot at me, AGAIN---but never past the point of lowering my shields and health.
It quickly dawned on me, "This is not fun. Not. At. ALL."
Of course, this stranger was concentrating on me, and only on me. And his aggression was totally unprovoked, irrational, and...well...mean, I guess. He just kept at it, t-bagging me nearly every time, which escalated to jumping up and down on my head. Each time, he was only causing me damage (and consequently, a swift death), but never killing me outright. I really didn't know what to do. I couldn't get rid of him---this was a rare occasion when I would have used the boot feature. I didn't want to quit, either, but I had long since lost my motivation to play. I also had the AFK banhammer to worry about, so every-so-often I moved around and shot off a couple of rounds. It never lasted long, though. The guy was unrelenting.
I'm sure some people will find my story amusing. Cool. Maybe some of you will assume (as I do) that he was targeting me, strictly because of my gender. Normally, I would have deferred to any one of the simple solutions I have, for diffusing sexism on XBLA. I've been a gamer for a long time, and a female for even longer. I learned that if I want to be both, there are certain misogynistic realities I must live with, and these have never stopped me from gaming (something I love).
But this guy...well, he got under my skin. He really almost made me cry, out of pure raged. Of course, I sent him an in-game message (which I can't repeat here, because it would look a lot like, "BLAM, BLAMMING BLAM BLAM! BLAM YOU, BRO!")...yea, his service tag was "BRO". *EYEROLL*. He sent some to me, too. They were less explicit, but no less insufferable. He was basically mock-hitting on me. If I could have, I probably would have physically hurt him. I was seeing bloody red. My whole night was ruined.
So, what were my options? 1) Submit a negative review (check). 2) Report him for cheating (check). Uhh...that's about it, I think. And I'm sure we can all agree that these actions are pretty much useless.
Does anyone else have any ideas/ suggestions? Cuz I'm fresh out of them. But I feel very strongly that someone who was (for no good reason) going out of his way to create a miserable situation for me---someone who makes me hesitate to play Reach again, for fear a repeated incident---should be penalized. Yet I cannot find a person/ place with whom/ which to file such a complaint.
Look, I understand that absurd people, for ridiculous reasons, do uncalled-for things (in life, and in general...here, we are talking about gaming), but usually there are repercussion, especially when it interferes with someone else's ability to play. Without some sort of safety net in place, I don't much feel like repeating the same, horribly obnoxious experience.
