Face your fear, then consume it to give yourself strength.

Honestly, there's not much else you can do. Try not to let these kind of people get under your skin. Just ignore them and move on to another match.

Um... this really isn't the right forum for this.

Pretty much this, also, try to play with friends to avoid this type of behavior. You could add me of you want, I'm not really picky of whom I play with.

Ive had that happen to me.
i shoot him back and kill him. If he boots me, i msg him "pathetic noob you got pwned by me your my Blam"

Otherwise, just quit match. He might be like "HAHAHAHA i got her to quit"
but its a video game.

20 years ago Game consoles didn't go online. People enjoyed them equally as much.
Now being online, Games will interact you with bored, stupid people who have been playing for endless hours and got bored and Decided to BS online. Its how it is.

But stop and think for a minute...
You almost wanted to Cry? You got angry you physically wanted to hurt someone for screwing around on a video Game?

Ive been pissed off that i threw my controller (in various games) the end result was 30$ for a new controller. I lost =p

Dont get mad over stupid video Games, especially Halo. not worth it.

I see what you're saying, but it wasn't just his behavior in the game---it was the messaging afterward, etc. Being a "girl gamer" is something you get used to after a while, but it doesn't mean you're totally impervious to blatantly sexist, degrading treatment. Which is mainly why I got so angry, and wanted to cry and hurt him (in that moment, but I don't feel that way, like, right now, or anything).

Call it a last straw, I guess...because, while it doesn't happen very often at all, yesterday he was the second person to harass me. I guess I just want to know why I always have to be the bigger person...it's getting kind of ridiculous, if you ask me. I shouldn't have to take EVERYTHING that gets dished out to me, should I? I mean, really...c'mon. And if Bungie is going to bother to set a precedence about in-game behavior (i.e. "Don't quit, and ruin it for everyone," or "Don't just leave your controller, while you're in a live match, and ruin it for everyone), why is team killing/ aggression okay? In my opinion, that's way more reprehensible than passively quitting a match---ya, quitters suck, and can put your team at a disadvantage, but I've won 2 v. 4 matches before. What this guy was doing to me left me with zero options. Quitting and AFK are prohibited, remember? I couldn't leave, and I couldn't stand there. So these solutions are off the table. I don't want to be put on match probation, just because some douche bags decided to troll me one day.

If I remember correctly, I think Bungie said in one of the Weekly Updates that shooting your teammates is still monitored by the betrayal aspect of the Banhammer and will eventually get people who do that.

But yeah, girl gamers have to put up with a lot of -blam!-, that's why I keep my mic off most of the time :/

Subject: Bullying and Harassing In-Game Behavior

I am submitting (most of)an original post that I already have elsewhere, in "Subject: Credit Resets" thread. I decided to start an entirely new thread, because the original was immediately overshadowed by one which directly proceeded mine (and apparently flamed everyone).

I would really like to know what I may do about this situation, though, so that's why I'm trying again:

I was playing an MP slayer match on Affinity. Almost immediately after my first spawn, I felt gunfire on my back. I turned around and saw a teammate shooting squarely at me. I thought, "Oh, great. Someone doesn't like Affinity." I was prepared to implement my usual policy of not booting (thereby forcing him to suck it up and quit, if he was going to be such a baby about it). But then he stopped, and we were nevertheless both killed.

Huh. Maybe it was just a fluke...

...no such luck.

Much to my confusion and dismay, after our next spawn, he proceeded to shoot at me, AGAIN---but never past the point of lowering my shields and health.

It quickly dawned on me, "This is not fun. Not. At. ALL."

Of course, this stranger was concentrating on me, and only on me. And his aggression was totally unprovoked, irrational, and...well...mean, I guess. He just kept at it, t-bagging me nearly every time, which escalated to jumping up and down on my head. Each time, he was only causing me damage (and consequently, a swift death), but never killing me outright. I really didn't know what to do. I couldn't get rid of him---this was a rare occasion when I would have used the boot feature. I didn't want to quit, either, but I had long since lost my motivation to play. I also had the AFK banhammer to worry about, so every-so-often I moved around and shot off a couple of rounds. It never lasted long, though. The guy was unrelenting.

I'm sure some people will find my story amusing. Cool. Maybe some of you will assume (as I do) that he was targeting me, strictly because of my gender. Normally, I would have deferred to any one of the simple solutions I have, for diffusing sexism on XBLA. I've been a gamer for a long time, and a female for even longer. I learned that if I want to be both, there are certain misogynistic realities I must live with, and these have never stopped me from gaming (something I love).

But this guy...well, he got under my skin. He really almost made me cry, out of pure raged. Of course, I sent him an in-game message (which I can't repeat here, because it would look a lot like, "BLAM, BLAMMING BLAM BLAM! BLAM YOU, BRO!")...yea, his service tag was "BRO". *EYEROLL*. He sent some to me, too. They were less explicit, but no less insufferable. He was basically mock-hitting on me. If I could have, I probably would have physically hurt him. I was seeing bloody red. My whole night was ruined.

So, what were my options? 1) Submit a negative review (check). 2) Report him for cheating (check). Uhh...that's about it, I think. And I'm sure we can all agree that these actions are pretty much useless.

Does anyone else have any ideas/ suggestions? Cuz I'm fresh out of them. But I feel very strongly that someone who was (for no good reason) going out of his way to create a miserable situation for me---someone who makes me hesitate to play Reach again, for fear a repeated incident---should be penalized. Yet I cannot find a person/ place with whom/ which to file such a complaint.

Look, I understand that absurd people, for ridiculous reasons, do uncalled-for things (in life, and in general...here, we are talking about gaming), but usually there are repercussion, especially when it interferes with someone else's ability to play. Without some sort of safety net in place, I don't much feel like repeating the same, horribly obnoxious experience.

Wow.. I hate hearing stories like that... I'm a guy gamer, and I've had that happen to me too, luckily, very few times have I had to deal with after messages. But as for the quitting/AFK business.. I would think that as long as you're not doing it consistently (ie, quitting every other match or something), just quitting that one time probably would have saved you some frustration. I know I've had to quit a few times before (and I really hate to quit, lol, I'm stubborn that way), and it allows me to calm down, and jump into another match, and forget the douche that ticked me off in the first place.

As for someone to report to/way to deal with people like this.. there really isn't anything other than to do what you did.. I know it's not much, but until they make games with official referees and such, we're kinda out of luck, and having to hope that the automated systems that have been put in place get these people.

Exactly, quitting 1 match you'll be fine.

And word of advice? whenever someone like that msg you, just delete it. dont get curious and start reading it, its just gonna make u mad. ignore it. we ALL have to, not just you.

As for the sexism, for crap sakes thats 3rd grade. If hes got something against you cause your a girl gamer, then hes obviously some pathetic freak who NEVER gets laid cause NO girl wants him and he is jellous that Girls can play games better than him.
