Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

You know, you could of just posted in the multiple other threads about this..

I honestly do not think there will be a remake, will I be annoyed if there is - yes, will I play it - yes.

I'm confused

Staff Sergeant future 510, serial number HHT3-09PL, Flood Military Reserve.

I would hope they add Reach weapons and vehicles. Plenty of banshee segments that could be replaced by a falcon.

If there is a CE remake, I would prefer it to have an extended story (extra chapters and levels to thicken the plot and give the background). It would almost certainly have forge and theater, possibly with firefight and some new extra maps.

I would be too, I would rather they concentrated on progressing the Halo story than upgrading an already existing story.

I really don't think it would have its own multiplayer considering that Reach came out a year before it. I think it will be an ad-on. Check out my post about the same thing:http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=58157553

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

It should have its own multiplayer, possibly Forge, but they should try to distance it as much as possible from how Reach turned out. From a gameplay standpoint, it had better be a pure remake.

... who said anything about a remake?

  • 06.03.2011 6:39 AM PDT

I really hope it isn't an exact remake. I hope certain aspects of the Campaign are changed, and that Forge, Matchmaking, Theater, and Firefight all make it into the finished product.

I think that would be quite awesome. However, I'm still hoping for a Halo 4 announcement instead.

I think that it would be great if they brought out Halo 4, and inside you get a Halo: CE campaign disc with nothing else but the campaign for Halo: CE. Or just even include it on the Halo 4 disc and have an option for 'Halo: CE' campaign.

We don't even know for sure if there will be a remake....

If there is, I hope its not as "pure" as many here claim to want it to be.
Many things in Halo CE play like crap these days and should be fixed. Floaty controls for instance. Or physics. Or the MASSIVE clips on the AR. Pistol should be like the one in Reach to be honest, but I don't really care about this one.
Level design is a bit sloppy. Sometimes you need to jump over a ledge, but its like 2 pixels too high for the floaty controls to get you up there in 1 try. AI needs to be updated. Amount of characters on screens could be increased.
Ghosts should be like it is from H2 on: lower to the ground.
Also introduce boosting to the Covie vehicles.
Adding boarding wouldn't hurt either, as well as the Wraith being usable.
Vehicles should be destroyable.

Those kinds of changes. And to be honest: half of that list is just "tightening" the things that have become a bit too sloppy over the years.

But I don't want to see new weapons, new vehicles, new enemies. No new levels, no AA's/Equipment.

Multiplayer wouldn't hurt if it has Forge and Armory too...And 4 player online co-op is a must too.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

If it's a remake in HD. Then I would hope for a remake in HD. Nothing more, nothing less.

With a game like Halo, if you add or take away even the little things, it changes the game experience for many people.

Edit- 4-Player Co-Op would be a win-win.

So you would seriously want to have floaty controls again? Even if one of the main critisms on Halo CE was its floaty vehicles for instance, which has been fixed perfectly, you want them to stay incredibly inaccurate once again? And thats just one thing.
I mean, you also want to have physics with dead bodies that will become glued to the ground etc? Same AI, which is very outdated?

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but not fixing those things will end up with a game that is absolutely unacceptable in terms of controls, AI and physics alone these days.

Obviously any update in terms of AI, physics and graphical features are welcome.

But adding things like destructible vehicles and hijacking changes the game immensely.

I'm talking about things such as assault rifle clip size, pistol 3SK, grenade timing damage and radius. Etc.

By adding new features such as destructible vehicles etc, you would have to account for other factors that would result in it such as weapon damage towards vehicles etc.

Do we want another sniper rifle that can kill a banshee in 4 shots?

Do we want to able to hijack the banshee on the 2nd level of Halo and skip the entire journey?

And so on.
By making these small changes, it does reflect on the overall game.

I'm not saying keep everything exactly the same, does contradict my earlier post in many ways lol, but what i meant and am saying is keep what made the core of Halo:CE, Halo:CE.

Boarding Banshees could be made impossible...Boarding Wraiths could be "attack" only for instance. Ghost boarding: nothing wrong with that.

Indestructable vehicles is just stupid, sorry. Making them destructable would only bring back some new challenges to the game we already know through and through. Warthog Run would be so many times more tricky and menacing, instead of being a "oh I've played this a 100x already, so I can drive without looking where I'm going so I can check out these awesome new textures on the walls" experience.

Blast radius of grenades, firepower of weapons: nothing wrong with how they are. Auto aim could be a lot less though, seriously: campaign has some very noticable auto aiming from time to time.

Decreasing AR clipsize has another effect: it makes you use other weapons a bit more often. Last time I played CE, I never got rid of my AR because it basically is a bottomless pit in terms of ammo...

I see your point. Fair enough. I don't agree with everything you said but I am open to it.In the end of the day, we'll find out what changes they bring and how it differs from the original.

Edit- If it does exist, that is. :P

I imagine the pistol would be more uh...balanced.

As in, you'd probably use the dmr over the pistol.

Looks like I came out on top here. Just a "Remastered" version.
