A while ago I was looking around the 343 forums, reading one of many remake threads on there, when I came across this post:
The single reason players want Halo: CE back is because of nostalgia. They think that if they get their game remade, it will feel new, and provoke those same emotions it did a decade ago, but it won't. Gamers are always chasing dragons like this. When you've played for years, one of the things you want the most is to just be a noob again, when everything feels fresh and exciting, and every new game is an adventure.
Personally, I think that sounds about right. But then again I'm biased, since I'm really a "games are a product of their time" sort of guy and I've never been wild about the idea of a remake. I'd be really curious to hear what you guys think. Do you think a remake can make you feel like you're playing the game for the first time again? Or do you think that people just think a remake would be cool even if it can ever be the same as the first time?
