A hint for stopping this as much as possible. Dont be holding down any buttons at all when the map is switching. If your holding down two or more buttons at the precise moment of map switch, it basically causes an exception data, but freezes everything up. When mine does that i press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Is the key combo for opening up the windows task manager. Hopefully your computer can open in freeze mode. Select halo on the list and press end task. So instead of restarting you can just shut off halo.

I've experienced this on occasion as well. Hasn't done it in a while, so , not sure what it is. At first I thought it was because of my scratched disc. You Guy's have disc's with scratches? Maybe that's the problem. Control alt delete is what I usually do, and just end the program and reload. You have to give it a moment to perform that task. Maybe our disc's are scratched from playing so damn much, and this is what cause's it.

Maybe Scopean is on to something.

Thank's but no thank's Pike a whatever. I wouldn't spend money on an x-box. I would rather buy a new mouse pad or a can of air to clean out my pc.

get lost -blam!-face

======><====== back on topic.

this isnt caused by scratches. i play halo using an emulated image of my ORIGINAL disk (i only use it to play without having to pop in a disk, dont chew me out on this...) so by its nature mine cant get scratched. this occasionally happens to me.

if it happens just live with it and see if someone figures out the cause, cause i sure havent a clue

Yep, happens to many people.. including myself.

And also weird, on my previous comp, it totally locked everything up, I couldnt minimize, couldnt open the task manager, couldn't do anything. A hard reset was the only solution.

Now on my laptop, I can simply press Ctrl Alt Del to bring up the task manager and kill the halo.exe process.

Nope, I have no clue about what causes it. Same here, I use a CD-image, so it has nothing to do with the disc. I also don't think it has anything to do with whether you are typing during the map switch or not. I do it most of the time and normally, I don't have any problems. I'm going to try to search for any specific actions that I could have been doing when the game locks up again...

Sometimes I cant even open the task manager or do anything when it gets stuck but about 3/4 of the time I can. So if I cant I just restart my comp but it is still annoying.
