Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

Hey guys, I posted this over at the Waypoint forums. I thought I should post it here too.

Earlier today, Waypoint released a video talking about the Flood. Now, when me and my friend were watching this video we noticed something. Skip to 0:35 of this video to see what I'm talking about:

http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/intel/featured/video/the-flood/0e9 82dcb-93ba-4f05-a11e-6cf17402344c

Now, what you'll see is some kind of animation of a marine transforming into a Flood Combat Form. Now being the Halo Nerd/Fan I am, I was really confused when i saw this as I've never seen it before.

Does anyone know where it's from? Is anyone else as confused as I am?

Could it be from the next Halo game?

So what do you guys think it is/is from? It looks like a Marine from Halo 2, but it's obviously not from Halo 2. Why would they show this now? Maybe it's a hint as to what we may see at E3?

Link to the Waypoint thread.

Signatures are for squares.

That is most definitely new. I've never seen that animation once before in my life.

That's a Halo 2 era marine, but a new animation for sure.

The animation itself appears to be roughly the same as the ones used for Halo 3 transformation judging from this and this.

So...a combination of Halo 2 aesthetics, Halo 3 animation, all under a shinier facade....The implications are most fascinating.

I was confused when I saw that. I thought I might have just missed it in Halo 2.

Don't think I've ever seen that one before. Could be wrong though. Good find!

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

I'm sure that it was used in Halo 3 as a test animation for the Flood infecting a human. Nice find but how come it hasn't shown up until now?
Also notice it's not ingame footage, straight up CGI

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

I agree, it seems like a CG render of both H2's style and H3's transformation. Just shinier.

If you can read this, that means I'm not a Shaolin monk...

yet.

Yeah, it's most certainly new.

Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

It's clearly the Halo 2 flood form. So my guess is that it was a possible flood infection/transformation animation they cut from Halo 2 and eventually added to Halo 3.
