I personally loved the original Halo Combat Evolved for the X-Box, and since then, have played every Halo game that has been made. While I agree with some points of this post, I have to disagree about the remake bit. Yes, Halo CE WAS a good game, and it opened the door to many who wanted something better than Golden Eye, Call of Duty, or Medal of Honor. A remake is what they promised, and that is what they gave. Personally, I would love to see the effects of the armor abilities in Reach, just not in the Campaign missions. Just my 2 cents.
Just an FYI, Call of Duty wasn't released until 2003. Golden Eye was for the N64 (previous gen, obviously) and Medal of Honor and Medal of Honor: Underground were released for the Playstation in 1999 and 2000, respectively.
Back to point however: if I remember correctly, a FULL remake with multiplayer is what was promised. Unfortunately, a full* campaign is all that we are looking at at the moment.
*If Reach abilities are included in the campaign, a fundamental change has been made.
I've played all of the games in the series starting with Halo: CE in 2001 when I was nine years old. I've steadily hated the series more and more after Halo 2. Halo 3 wasn't necessarily bad, but I surely didn't enjoy it as much as Halo: CE on XBC or Halo 2 on XBL. Reach, however, is a different story all together. In fact, I think what I hate the most is armor abilities. They completely ruin the game in my opinion and have no place in the francise, much like how equipment in Halo 3 had no place and took away from the experience.
