Subject: Great, Halo: CE (Anniversary) is just a skinned Reach

According to the behind the scenes videos (Halo waypoint and gametrailers website) Its the Halo 1 Engine with graphics, Multiplayer is just the Reach Multiplayer with new maps (like the second disc that came with Halo: ODST)

The Halo 1 Remake WILL NOT BE FULL PRICED. it will be a reduced price. So research before posting.

Single player is exactly the same. Multiplayer is just a map pack for Halo Reach

Do we know that FOR SURE?

That would be the best case scenario, like in ODST, multiplayer disk would just be Reach's muiltiplayer plus the maps.

Now I want my money back from buying the Reach map packs.

Oh you're one of those people.

*Leaves Thread*

Yep, I have standards for the games I play, sorry. Don't let the door hit you on the way out though.

To be totally honest, I get the feeling that they are releasing this game this November just so they have something to give the Halo 4 Beta away with.......

Very likely. Hardly any companies in today's market are driven by anything but the largest profits possible.

This thread is retarded. Know your facts before you post, you uneducated piece of dirty fluff.

Yep, it's really easy to talk down upon people in hindsight. It's funny though, you call me (and those posting in this thread by extension to a certain degree) "uneducated", yet you call this thread "retarded", an obvious que to your own lack of mental capacity.

Im sorry but ima laugh when the games turn out great and you buy them

The games? Halo: Reach has already been released and unfortunately, yes I did buy it. I was not and still am not a fan of that game whatsoever. Halo: Combat Evolved was released ten years ago and I bought that when I was nine, just shy of ten. I assume you're around that same age now, give maybe four or five years. All I can say is that I hope your standards for video games improve over time. With more and more multi-million dollar games like Halo and CoD being churned out, it's going to be pretty hard to spot the diamonds in the rough like Halo:CE and CoD2 were at the time.

The Halo: CE engine will only be powering the campaign (if I've read correctly so far).

When you go to play multiplayer, the Havok engine will take over and you'll be playing Reach's mutliplayer.

There is no point to this. Absolutely NO point.

The Halo 1 maps are worthless without the gameplay they were designed around. The remakes in the later games prove this.

FULL Halo 1 remake = insta-buy

Campaign only = epic failure

Looks terrible for all the reasons you stated. It's just an add-on to Reach with a few maps that resemble maps from Halo 1. I also think the graphics look too dark and blocky. I'll be sticking with my original H1, regardless of online co-op.

Also, did anyone have a laugh when Chief came out of cryo-sleep with a jetpack in his armor in the Halo 4 trailer? I don't recall him having that ability anywhere in H3, including when he went in to cryo-sleep. So sad how this has franchise has just turned into a cash cow with no regard to continuity or sense.

It's a reveal trailer, bro. It's always explained. Heck, for all we know it's a part of MJOLNIR armor that was never pointed out.

Yep they are just selling snake oil with this one. Massive fail in my opinion. Apparently the village idiots are still in charge of Halo.

To be honest, I would have rather it be the opposite. Have the campaign remade in the Reach engine, but keep the multiplayer in the original engine. 343 took the lazy way out on both issues.

  • 06.06.2011 4:30 PM PDT

I'm buying it regardless, graphically updated campaign, so nothings changed much, sure they used the Reach redesigned assault rifle, but when they redesign, your supposed to imagine that's how it's always been in the timeline, hard to imagine, I'm sure.

Maybe it's just a map pack but it means we don't have to level up in a brand new Halo Online game, instead, we get to continue our Reach Ranks on new Halo: CE maps, that's great in my opinion.

Sure, it may not sound like much to some of you's but here's how it goes in my eyes, it's 343's first REAL attempt at creating a game, and even if it's just a detailed re-skin and a re-use of Reach Multiplayer, I'm gonna buy this ASAP and enjoy playing it, afterall, earning achievements for a game I pretty much know inside and out is gonna be exciting, if you don't like it: DON'T BUY IT!

If it's not your thing: PLAY THE ORIGINAL

If you don't like my opinion: YOU CAN GO SUCK IT

:)

Levels and all that jazz are overrated IMO.

I liked the days when you just joined lobbies and played for the sake of having fun, not about some number or rank stuck next to your name. But hey, that's just me.

If it's not your thing: PLAY THE ORIGINAL
Will do. Actually I've got it plugged in right now and working on my nade points and trick jumps. Maybe I can get some of the guys over and have a LAN party soon.

Yeah they figured out a way to "pretend" to give the fans what they wanted.

Seriously wtf. That was really messed up. Get everybody hyped up for no reason. Just for some updated graphics for campaign and some maps on reach. Screw that.

Here's the thing. They did exactly what (many of us) wanted for the campaign. Took the original campaign and updated the look (and even made it toggle-able).

What they did that wasn't expected or wanted was sidestepping the multiplayer and just making more maps for Reach.

Are you an idiot? It's not a re-textured Reach, it's a re-textured CE. Watch the new ViDoc, you can instantly switch between 2001 CE graphics and 2011 CE graphics flawlessly. It plays just like the original, it just looks like Reach.

Multiplayer is Reach on CE classic maps.

This isn't a discussion, its a venue for you to complain while questioning the intelligence of anyone who disagrees with you. Their reasoning behind the change in online multiplayer functionality is relatively sound; they don't want to fracture the community. The "features" that you listed are glitches and exploits and would have been removed from any re-release of the game.

Anniversary is NOT a re-skinned Reach. The single-player campaign remains exactly as it was upon release, with enhanced visuals that can be turned off at any time. They're being as faithful to the original title as possible while trying to leave Reach with a healthy community.

You're overreacting and spreading false information.

Yet people who wanted change are ultimately let down. Could it be partiality? Or is it because the people who wanted change are in the minority?

Exactly. Screw this remake.

It's idiotic for them to remake maps just to play in Reach when the gameplay doesn't translate. Not to mention they probably only remade default maps that have already been remade by the community.

Also lol @ they didn't want to fracture the Reach community. I'm willing to bet most of the people that wanted the full remake of CE don't even play the garbage that is Reach.

it looks more like a remake of reach rather then a remake of ce.....

meaning the vast majority looks like and seems to play like reach with some aspects from CE Campaign......

this isn't ce it's reach with some parts of ce's campaign.

I'm unhappy!

:( I am too now

When people put forth ad hominems and such other frivolous remarks, I do question their intelligence. Wouldn't you if someone did the same?

If a remake of a game from 2001 can fracture their community that badly, it only goes to show how pitiful the current state of their games are in at the present.

Only some of the features I listed were glitches.
First I'll point out which ones aren't:
-Nade points (no glitch there, exploitation of physics only)
-Nade jumping (again no glitch, exploitation of physics and OS startup only)
-Silent weapon change (just using the quietest animation)

Regardless of the fact that the Backpack Reload, Double Melee, and Insta-Invis were glitches, they were part of the game for the last 10 years. They contributed to the competitiveness of the game itself. Taking them out would only do disservice to the idea of a remake (although they already failed on that level in my and other's opinions).

Anniversary is NOT a re-skinned Reach. The single-player campaign remains exactly as it was upon release, with enhanced visuals that can be turned off at any time. They're being as faithful to the original title as possible while trying to leave Reach with a healthy community.
I will give you that. It is a re-skinned Halo: CE SP and a Reach expansion (I'm not sure if I can change my title, haven't been on this site for a while. I had an account from '04 but it's been deleted or something along those lines).

I'm pretty sure the multiplayer was the most interesting aspect of the idea of a Halo:CE remake. It was the one thing that was lacking from the game at launch (although XBL wasn't up at the time, so there was little alternative to local MP).

Again, if Reach took a serious hit from an online port of a 10 year old video game, that only goes to show how weak it is as a title.

You're overreacting and spreading false information.

I don't feel I'm overreacting. I'm not going out to kill anyone or forming a riot. I'm just on the internet voicing my concerns. And in regards to "spreading false information" I'm pretty sure that my edit covers that. The bulk of the OP is a simple reaction to the trailer video when I first saw it. All of the information that is currently available wasn't available at the time. It's a lot easier to criticize others in hindsight than it is to actually think critically and see what limited information they were reacting to at the time.

Im sorry but an HD campaign remake for the best campaign in the series? If you truly liked the game then why wouldnt you buy it? Ok so Reach is worse than 3 but still its not terrible, it still has a halo feel when your with your buddies and its a reduced price. Why wont you buy it? The best halo campaign ever created but in HD and online coop and probly sum other cool features that dont always have to be turned on but make the game have even more replayability. I loved Halo CE and an HD remake just gives me more reason to play that awesome campaign again. If you truly liked it you would buy this game, btw 343 Industries is making this and they know Halo.

Although we don't know for sure how Reachy (and thus wrong) the MP will be yet, it is already doomed by the fact there are only 6 maps (firefight doesn't count) out of the original 13 CE MP maps.

First off TC, its good to see someone played Halo 1 on XBC. I don't come across that many people these days that played on Xbox Connect, let alone heard of it. I don't think you are overreacting on what you have said so far (as one user stated). However, I'm really not surprised they don't have Halo 1 Xboxlive support. Halo 4 is coming out next year, they have much more reason to focus on that instead of Halo Anniversary (profit).

As has been pointed out before, they don't want to fracture the Halo community between Halo Reach, Halo 1, but also Halo 4. Us folks who like Halo 1 and or Halo 2 the best (us long time Halo gamers) would like to stick to the older games and would likely be fine not playing Halo 4 (unless Halo was really redeemed). However, since Halo 1 won't have Xboxlive support, and Halo 2 lost Xboxlive support, were forced to play the newer games.

So, bottom line is Halo Anniversary is a graphical update, with a map pack for Halo Reach, and will likely have a Halo 4 beta. Basically Halo ODST 2.0. Well, I hope Halo 4 will be better than Reach. One very small thing I do like is that the map pack will have a map from Halo 1 PC. I wonder if one of the maps will be Forge friendly? If so, its likely the pc map.

*Edit* I'd also like to say that 7 maps is a bit of a let down. Maybe they want to save some remakes for the future and thats why their holding out a bit.
