1) Good point.
2) They could have at least changed the physics. It would have made vehicle positioning more easier.
This is NOT what I want to happen:
Try to park a Warthog, get out, end up splattering a marine.
In a Ghost, driving forward, marines in the way, one of them dives in front of me, accidental splatter.
See a Hunter, charge at it with Warthog, Hunter dives, I turn, instant kill.
I don't know man, that's part of the nostalgia for me (not so much those specific instances of physics failure, but more the crazy physics engine in general) I'd rather deal with those issues again than have it "feel" different, ya know?Or they could just change the physics and collision in regards to the player?
I liked splattering Elites and Grunts in Halo CE. But I disliked being splattered by allies and accidentally splattering them. Since this is Halo CE's engine, they could adjust it a little so that ally driven vehicles do less damage on allies.

So, if the gameplay is the same, that means one shot kill Hunters with the pistol.More importantly, it means that their armor will be connected to their health. That means that they will be extremely easy to kill.
