That depends, sniper, pistol or AR?

running forward, bakwards, from side to side?

If your a bit away, and your foe is running, aim a bit ahead of him/her and in head hight(sniper)

otherwise, just aim above the body, at the head, but its wery diffrent from time to time, so my tip is, practise

This might be a long shot, but aiming for the head usually results in a headshot...

Just something to consider...

Dude, you just blew my mind.

Actually, aiming for the head on anything but a still target will get you absolutly nothing in halo. Aim infront of them, and if you have a pisol, alittle above them.

Hmm, I don't do it, and it works too (considering the numerous amounts I've been called a <insert obscene adjective here> hacker).

I'll give it a try however and see if it works better or not.

when i say aim a tiny bit over the head i mean to aim with the persons head in the bottom of the crosshair. if their head is under the crosshair youll miss by far.

With the leading in halo, headshots are just luck sometimes. Just aim for the upper body with a pistol, and you might get lucky.

With a sniper, aim at just below the head and fire (when far away). If close up, aim at the chin and fire.

Totally theoretical, but to get all nitty-gritty about it, do different parts of the head take more damage than others? This would be very useful in campaign for sniping elites, and for the fun of knowing it in mp.

I don't think it's that intricate, ateabanana. Chewy is right. We could argue for days about it, but the net effect is 'gravity'. Aim slightly about the head and lead your shot - bullets fall and gravity works.

I think there are two damage locations in Halo, head and the rest. Case in point, if someone is standing behind the parapet on the Blood Gulch bases and there foot is exposed, two shots with the sniper rifle on the foot gets you a kill. Also gets you accused of cheating. :)

I guess it all depend's on who your playing and how much people are standing around.

It seem's I am just going for two shot's to the body while sniping. Even if the first shot get's 'em in the head, I am quickly clickin' a second time to make sure they are down. I get my fair share of headshot's, but I don't think I have graduated to an "elite headhunter" like some here.

I think from the lower neck up will get you the one kill shot, at least from my experimenting with that. Then you take into consideration of framerate and ping.

For me.....a little luck and a fair amount of ammo usually get's the job done.

This subject came up a while back. I did a test to see if pistol or sniper bullets fall as they travel. I opened a LAN game with no other players. I stood at a distance, (greater distance than I'd normally use a pistol), and shot at the target-like insignia on the base in Blood Gulch. I aimed the center of my crosshairs at the center of the target. Some shots were a bit lower than center, but just as many were a bit high. I did the same with the sniper rifle with similar results, except the sniper is a bit more accurate.

It would be interesting to try with another player who would stand still and see if it works the same way.

I've done the "toe shot" thing, too. Ever try shooting the barrel of a sniper rifle you see peeking out from behind a wall or rock? I got a few kills from that, too.

Oh yeah! It's pretty funny how you can melee or shot someone's gun and it'll hurt them too.

And about the head thing, I think for Elites it's possible that different parts of the head are more protected. If I recall correctly, Red Elites on Legendary will die in one shot on the side of the head, but not the back of the head/neck part.

Actually there are three: head, body front, and body back. shots to the back seem to do a little more with some weapons, but definitely so in the case of a melee.

Actually the bullets do fall some, as most of the time I have to aim just above the head at long range to make head hits.
