In the Halo 4 trailer, we all saw John pull out his pistol and fire at the door, blowing it off. We also saw him attach something to him pistol at the end. Here's some theories to ease people's fears on 343 making Halo stupid.

Ship Weakness Theory
Now, we all the the ship John was on was falling apart when he shot at the door. It is possible his bullet was capable of blowing the door off when fired in the right spot. However, I find the next theory. to be much more plausible.

Pistol-Grenade
Does anyone remember rifle-grenades? You attached them to the end of the gun, and fired them, creating a similar effect to that of a grenade launcher. It is possible that what John attached to his pistol, and fired at the door what something similar to this. This could also mean we get a new weapon, or secondary weapon firing.
Ex: Predators vs Aliens
Pistol: Primary=1 shot, Secondary=3 shots

Who's to say the same can't happen in Halo?

If anyone would like to add other theories, you can do so here.

I've got a fan!

It obviously wasn't a pistol. The pistol doesn't eject a spent cartridge out the top, the pistol doesn't fire explosives, and the pistol doesn't have that attachment on the front (seen before the gun is reloaded).

You didn't read. Also, it's 2557.

Who's to say they haven't invented a pistol grenade?

Battle Star Galactica style?

Also that trailer was desighned by someone who had never heard of the books let alone played any of the games apparently.

I'd be money they just were given Halo Legends and some CGI programs... WHY BUNGIE WHY?

What he's saying is it's not the M6 pistol we've used in the past Halo games. This is a new pistol or other handheld weapon altogether.

Ah, my bad.

Still, the pistol grenade is a plausible theory.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

I believe it's a standard pistol shooting at something similar to a fire extinguisher to clear the way.

A pistol rocket is pretty far out, especially considering that he's been on a untouched Forward unto Dawn with a very limited armory.

That's possible too.

Nah he clearly ejects something from the pistol then proceeds to reload it with an object similar to what he fired earlier at the end of the corridor.

Kind of off topic, but will this game ressemble more to halo reach or halo 3? i know that its 343 and not microsoft involved with the game, but bungie should realise that the halo 2 and 3 experience were far more appreciated than halo reach, with all these new features that don't have anything to do with the original halo.

Yes i realise that this is all opinion related, but i do not think that i will purchase halo 4 if it has the same experience to is as halo reach.

In that case I'm stumped.

Artistic liberty maybe?

Probably a new way to introduce a new weapon much like how the initial stage of bubble shield was introduced in Starry Night.

When your out of options, your trying the wrong options.

Ok I'v found a link with a decent enough pic of his MC's new found toy.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Marketplace/Product/Halo-4

It is the middle pic when you scroll down and you can clearly see a butt stock and body type more resembles an SMG than a pistol.

More a machine pistol like the MAC-10 than a full sized smg
