Member of Bungie.net for nearly three years, still continuing!

Enjoy what you have and live on.

My gamertag is Elder Bias

I have been reading entire novel books and even looked at halo encyclopedia, and you're right. There is no thruster pack integrated in MJOLNIR Mark IV Armor.

Any internet sources such as Halopedian or Halo Nation (wiki) isn't accepted. Only novels and encyclopedia plus Halo bible is only accepted as primary source.

CGI trailer isn't canon and it's just representative trailer. It'll change when we get to see in-game trailer which it might show at PAX.

Ok so didn't Master Chief use thrusters in Halo 3 when he was wandering around the broken Dawn? Maybe he just wore them in cryo sleep or something. It doesn't matter that much jesus. And for those of you that think this game is going to suck based solely on the teaser, stop being idiots. Games change from their teasers and trailers. Halo 3's teaser wasn't canon, neither was Halo 2's, and I can't entirely remember CE's to be honest. Think of how different Halo 2 looked at 2003 (?) E3. Give it a chance before you start ripping on it already.

And before you bash on 343i for not being Bungie, consider this. 343i has been gathering a multitude of talented devs from all over the industry, including former Bungie dudes like Frankie. Did it ever occur to you that maybe new ideas and insight from other people that also have enjoyed Halo for the past ten years might be the best thing for Halo now.

Just because we see it now doesn't mean it wasn't there beforehand. The Brutes were in Halo 2, but it doesn't mean it wasn't already a Covenant species in Halo: CE. The Jetpack, or possibly the zero gravity boosters, might have always been there... they might just not have been used.

Who is to say that this is hours or days after halo 3. He might have gotten out of the cryo tube, found Mark VII armor, changed and got back in.

I mean seriously, everybody is way to quick to judge.

Don't take it upon yourself that I'm serious about the changing armor and climbing back in the cryotube... I just used that to tell you you all are being ridiculous. The Mark VI armor changed from asthetically from Halo 2 to Halo 3 and almost nobody cared. It might have done it again from Halo 3 to Halo 4. Just because he never had a use for the Jetpack or Zero G booster in H2/3 doesn't mean it wasn't ever there or that 343 Industries is trying to change Halo.

Note rear of ship at 1:17 into trailer. NOT a UNSC cruiser.
-Blam!- there go my hopes of next-gen graphics.

Edit 1: still, you going to call that grenade launcer cgi too (yes i know what CGI is, i'm saying tha if his armor is an interpretation, that that "pro pipe" is too?)

Look closer, it is NOT a grenade launcher. It is a grenade attachment to the pistol. Like this modern rifle attachment.

Well this is what happens when Halo goes with out Bungie: Awful MJOLNIR design, mysteriously jetpack poping up from nowhere, a gun with granade capability, and awful design of the UNSC Forward unto Dawn.

Epic trilogy fail.

1. Thrusters. Not jetpacks.
2. Yeah, grenade attachments have been around for centuries. We even have them now. So it makes sense.
3. The whole trailer was CGI.

Use common sense, for the love of God and all that is almighty.
Not that I believe in God.
After all, he was born out of a fictional book.
But books are cool either way.
Great for killing flies.
And stuff.

The link in the OP doesn't work for me. Can someone post links to the detailed pictures of the Chief's armor?

Here's one. And anoer that gives "The Package" a whole new meaning.
Even Spartans get morning wood y'know.

"Where ere thou hast been, here or in yon world manifest? Canst thou tell what is, or what was, or what is to come? No thing shall last. Yet there are some things that will never change. History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

Any linkage to where it says the Mark VI has jetpack like thrusters auto-built in?

I doubt any exists. From what I know the thrusters were attached to the armor.

Yeah, it's in the Graphic Novel storyline where the Mark VI is being tested.
Oh, hey, look at that.

In "The Package" picture, that looks like a Shotgun/Grenade Launcher... What do you guys think it is...?

BAH-WEEP-GRANA-WEEP-NINI-BONG?

The video is strictly promotional. What we see now could completely change from what we see in the final product. Anyone who jumps to conclusions whether or not the game will be good or not just based off of this one video is a -blam!- moron.

That was a separate re-entry unit. Not a built in thruster pack...

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

Similarly, you can complain about Reach's gameplay and balancing all you want, but if there's on thing you CAN'T complain about is the graphics.

Oho, yes I can.

Reach's graphics attempted a new "gritty" style, and with it lost much of the artistic merit of the previous games. In addition, the increased graphical processing means that AI processing was sidelined, resulting in dumber, less fluid AI than in Halo 3 or ODST. Not to mention the biggest problem, Reach's graphics experience framerate drop during larger events and on Forged maps, there's no dynamic lighting, and it only runs at 30fps.

That said, it's all really the fault of the 360. PCs, with their constantly evolving technology, are worlds ahead of consoles in terms of graphical capability. Micro$oft announced that they expect the Xbox 360 to last until at least 2015, meaning developers have to create games for sub-par hardware for the next few years to come. As a result, graphics in games will suffer, and the current demand for graphically sophisticated games is absurd, so you're going to see subpar graphics subverting the effort that should be put into developing gameplay and content.

Halo 4 looks great, though. The teaser was 100% pre-rendered CGI, just as the teaser for Halo 3 (Starry Night teaser trailer) was. The actual game trailer will be in-engine, like with Halo 2 and Halo 3.

  • 06.07.2011 10:49 AM PDT

doubtfull no info on the game besides the trailer and a picture of cheif in vii armour

  • 06.07.2011 11:07 AM PDT

I just want him to have exactly the same armour. This new stuff looks pretty horrible; hopefully its just the same as the original Halo Wars trailer, as in, the Spartans' armour changed in appearance from the trailer to the game.

As for jetpack, if he had it, why didn't he use it when he almost fell out of the Dawn at the end of H3?! ...Because he DIDN'T have it...

Halo 4 Mk. VI vs. Halo 3 Mk. VI

Halo 3 hands down for me.

NOTE: I'm sure the game will be great anyway...

It's still Mark VI, notice the scratch on the right (your left)of his chest plate. It's the exact same from his Mark VI.

i agree with the first post, hes not on the Dawn, and thats not the same planetoid object hes floating towards in Halo 3
the objects shape and look are similar but different

it is the PoA and it is the same planet.

frankie clearly said in a interview that those that know halo lore will be familiar with the events going on.

I'm not sure you understand the fate of the Pillar of Autumn and the Forward Unto Dawn. I'm almost embarrassed to reply to you, honestly. This is child's play - basic, easy canon we're talking about here.

Time travel is 150% out of the equation on all fronts, and therefore, considering the Pillar of Autumn was indeed literally vaporized by the explosive force it generated when it destroyed a Halo, there is nothing left of her, this is confirmed.

As for the Forward Unto Dawn, she was severed in half, intentionally or not, by the collapse or redirection of the Ark Portal. The front half (containing the current Arbiter) was sent back to Earth. The aft half (containing the vast majority of Cortana and John-117) was sent to this forerunner construct. Some time after this, John went into cryo storage on the Forward Unto Dawn, and some time after that is where this new trailer picks up.

Inspection of the ship he's on confirms he's on the rear half of a UNSC ship. Note "half". There is no possible explanation as to why John would wake up in a different cryo chamber, in a different UNSC ship that was also severed in half and left drifting toward a different forerunner construct that happened to have Cortana in the system. All of these things are present in both the Legendary cutscene, and the trailer we just saw.

Stop promoting a cause you can't understand.

To Battle Lavano!!!

Oh hi you must be new here.

Heres an idea the game is being made by 343 not Bungie therefore Chief looks different because Bungie owns the copyright to master chief. Secondly it was a cgi trailer so the actual game will probably look worse graphically. The ship looks different to you because it was made by entirely different people so they did not design it exactly the same as Bungie did.

I question your intelligence for even thinking the chief was wearing mk vii armour. To your second confirmation the halo ring was massive and larger than many planets.

I DO have time to bleed...i just dont want to.

1.there could have been armour inside the cryo chamber and cortana made the chamber put it on him.
2. at the end of halo 3 he ses "wake me up if u need me" who knows he might have wolken up before that and chainged his armour

  • 06.07.2011 1:22 PM PDT

I DO have time to bleed...i just dont want to.

there are thrusters bilt in if u play the first level on halo 2 the marine tells you all the upgrades from mk 5 to mk6 and he ses there are zero-g thrusters

  • 06.07.2011 1:25 PM PDT

It doesn't look like new armor persay, but instead a Jetpack attached to Mark VI. The helmet looks slighty different though. How he got either escapes me. 343 should have just updated the Mark VI texture, but I guess people want new armor.
