When it comes to producing a viable plot for Halo 4...there are plenty of loose ends from the novels that could be expanded upon ie. Dr Halsey, Mendez, and the Spartan II's/III's in the Dyson Spear...and let's not forget Gray team whose primary mission was to go deep into Covenant territory, sometimes gone for years at a time, and wreak havoc in any way they see fit...I think the latter would be a GREAT scenario....for the Chief to have drifted into deep space... into another, larger (one that dwarfs the Covenants numbers in the previous Halo's), and more ruthless type of Covenant race, perhaps even the Covenant's home world, whom of which has no clue whatsoever that the human race even exists, or what happened with their Covenant counterparts until the Chief drifts upon them...I think this should set off a chain of events that will ultimately lead to the Covenant attempting to mobilize for an assault on Earth from the newly found knowledge obtained from Chief/Cortana....an offensive that humanity will have no chance at surviving......Chief knows this, so the next COUPLE of Halo's will need to center around this...the reuniting with/being saved by Gray Team....and Halsey, Mendez, and the other Spartans somehow coming into play, and thus defeating this new more powerful enenmy...WHEW......well.....this is just an opinion of a fan of the game, and even a bigger fan of the novels...can't wait for the next of both....

or instead of the covenant homeworld its a world created by the forerunners

I think for the sake of introducing Gray Team, since they would most likely be in or around the Covenant's homeworld, it would need to be there...

Are you guys retarded? The covenant don't have a single home world. The prophets were beset with a civil war across their planet, the key point of disagreement being whether to worship or to use the forerunner dreadnaught on their planet. The war culminated with the faction intent on using the dreadnaught to leaving the planet while taking a small chunk of the planet with them. This became known as the holy city of High Charity.

They eventually came across Snaghelios, and after a brutal war forced the Elites to form a covenant with them. In later years they would gain the strength of various other species such as the Jiralhanae and unggoy. Even the Mgalekgolo from their home world of Te would give in to the covenant.

As to the OP, that story would be the most repetitive, dry, lame piece of crap in the history of storytelling.

Well seeming as how I'm attempting to expand on the Novels, which are VERY good, and which got the whole Halo franchise going in the first place....I disagree....also, the entire Halo game is in itself 'repetitive'...so by your definition, IT'S a dry, lame piece of crap....a dry lame piece of crap that you're an 'Honorable Member' of....do me a favor and think before you type -blam!-.....-blam!-......
