Subject: Halo 2 remake, the way you want it!

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Account Status: Silver :(

If there is ever a Halo 2 remake what would you like to see as far as...

1. Performance and presentation upgrades (graphics, audio, ect.)
2. Gameplay mechanics and customization
3. Campaign design and AI
4. Online Matchmaking
5. Added Features (map editor, theater, firefight, ect.)

NOTE: Please don't flood this thread with trolling related to arcade version or re-enabling live to the original. I am only talking of a remake.

Aslong as they dont add Halo Reach multiplayer, it's fine.

It should have everything Reach has, minus the gameplay. It should get a visual upgrade, Theater, FF and Forge as well as less auto aim, less bullet magnetism and smaller hitboxes.

If this gets remade (im positive it will, MS be milkin' Halo), people will be angry about "TIS GAEM TE SUCKSORS. IT NO REQUIRES SKIL", even though it'll be the same thing, just enhanced for balance.

No changes at all but updated graphics.

Look at Perfect Dark on XBLA. That's a PERFECT example

adding things like forge(which is a failure at best), theater (which sucks in Halo:reach), and FF which I could give a -blam!- about would mean you would need to change the engine dramatically. Changing the engine changes the gameplay. Changing the gameplay makes it a remake no longer...

Noope. They wouldn't have to change the engine. Have you heard about CE: Anniversary? It's running on two engines yet the gameplay is left untouched.

Forge isn't a failure. Forge World maps often are boring to look at, but they are excellent in design and gameplay. Theater can be changed to what it was in H3, and it would be pretty useful. Firefight is essentially the same as Campaign without progression, no engine change needed. They can copy the campaign map / or any other map spawn some AI and there you have it, Firefight.

Halo 3: ODST had FF added to it and it ran on the same engine as Halo 3.

You said you are a competitive player (or at least implied it by saying Reach sucks competitively) in every (Random Halo title)>Reach thread.

Engine does not a game make.

I could recreate Halo Reach, complete with bloom, on the Halo PC engine if I wanted to, or with the UDK.

Okay here is the deal with Halo 2, I LOVE THAT GAME!!! now as far as a remake goes, yea sure do some graphic updates if they want but don't touch the online play any what so ever. leave the shooting, BXR's, BXB's, double shots, Super jumps, etc. leave it all just the way it was. Make the game skillful again. Seriously I went over and got on Halo 3 and Reach and once I figured out the maps I felt like every game I played was against non skilled players and these people had highest skills of 40 and stuff but they were horrible. So bungie if you remake Halo 2 keep it skillful and let the noobs continue to play Halo 3 and Reach. I WANT A CHALLENGE!!!! >.< Now some people may say that super jumping had nothing to do with skill but if any of you old players back when there was 1v1 and you played on Ascension knows how much harder you have to play when someone gets the first kill on you then grabs a sniper and rockets and super jumps on top of big base. I mean all that stuff made you a skillful player. I know a lot of you have been in epic battles on lockout or midship where you barely live through one guy then someone else comes around a corner to kill you and you have just enough time to BXR them in the face and the rush it gave you when you did it XD. I could go on and on all day about how Halo 2 was a real gamers game, but you all already know all the great stuff about it. But here is the problem Bungie had so many people crying over Matchmaking in Halo 2 that I doubt Bungie would leave gameplay the same, They will noobify it so much that it will be just a easy gameplay if not easier then Reach and Halo 3..

So after all that if Bungie had a Halo 2 remake and I had a choice of what went in and got taken out I would say keep online gameplay the same, Add 1v1 back into matchmaking, add clan matches, and don't add and new weapons, don't take away our BR, don't mess with the reticles on the weapons, don't add jetpacks and sprinting and all that other bullcrap, give us theater mode for all the epicness that will happen during matchmaking, give us more campaign, and last BUT certainly not least DO NOT TOUCH THE MAPS!!! don't add stupid stuff that will mess with someones view like extending the walls or adding higher side railing or anything keep the maps the same as the original halo 2 maps don't add or take away anything from them, the maps in Halo 2 where perfect just the way they were.

Forge, Theater, more options for custom games, updated graphics. Maybe include some of the new weapons in custom games. Take out some of the glitches that really affected online play like BXR, but keep the superjumps. Other than that, change nothing.

The binned missions! I don't know how far off all 3 were in development, but I can't stress enough how much I'd love to play how Halo 2 was intended. Imagine boarding the Covie vessel after Cairo station, teaming up with ODSTs and Miranda, or finishing Halo 2 as intended on the Forerunner ship. If they ever remake Halo 2 like Halo CE, do this and give us back online Halo 2 multiplayer, I'd go crazy, I'd definitely pay a lot for that.

Anyone? Support?

EDIT: Maybe we could get a remake in 2014, would make sense. That's in a long time though...

If it's remade, I'm guessing it would be for a 2014 release, which is two years after the release of Halo 4. Depending on whether or not Halo 4's multiplayer is any good, a Halo 2 map pack could work in the same way that is being used for CEA, as long as the multiplayer gameplay can be made to feel like that of Halo 2. I'm hoping that Halo 4 will have enough custom game options to accurately re-create the gameplay of any previous Halo FPS. An irrational dream? Probably..

Campaign should be like CEA, with co-op over XBL, idential gameplay to the original, and updated graphics. Graphics should be styled similarly to the original.

The problem would be lack of solid networking. There's no doubt that Halo 4 will have much better netcode than Halo 2, and it would presumably take a decent amount of work to get Halo 2 working at a similar standard. Plus it would allow the maps to be directly integrated into Halo 4's ecosystem (as Franke puts it), which would have a fair few advantages.

edit: I think another way of explaining it would be: re-create Halo 2's gameplay in Halo 4, rather than re-create Halo 4's quality of netcode in Halo 2.

Interesting, haven't thought about it that way. Hopefully Halo 4 will make the original Halo 2 mp experience easily possible. I don't know if Halo 4 will feature better mp, but it's a fan favourite, or just for the sake of nostalgia, to be able to play with the good old maps and all. New and old graphics too.

They should update the campaign's graphics and AI and add some extra levels or easter eggs. Also, they should add some new maps to the multiplayer and bring back a few of the old one's with updated graphics.

Except it's a totally different situation. You do know Halo CE features no network coding? Halo 2 on the other hand, obviously has network coding since we could play the game on xbox live. 343 WANTED to give us the CE multiplayer, but said it would need to much efforts and time for a COMPROMISE, since they have to redo all the parts which need the network coding. Stop overreacting and not reading the details guys... It's fun to know what you're talking about.
