I really hope (if it's real) that when they say a big battlefield, they MEAN it. The promise of a big one in Tip of the Spear was bull-blam!-. Halo 2's Quarantine Zone was the biggest in-game. I remember hearing Bungie saying: In Reach you'll find yourself fighting in a battle with 40 AI and 20 vehicles at the same time! Nowhere to be found...

  • 06.12.2011 1:32 PM PDT

Seriously Oak, Ive been doing this -blam!- for 16 years, gimmie my Friggen starter Pokemon and dont call me till im the champion! ¬_¬

I've had 2 major theories for this that play into eachother

Firstly, the Planetoid thing is the Dyson sphere that Onyx lead to / contained, meaning there would be an explanation to any variaty of human weapons inside the Forerunner Device, as there's a small legion of SIII's there

Now for storytelling, Only the minority of these fans will have read Ghost's of Onyx, so to introduce a legion of random, unknown spartans wouldn't appeal to them, so Jun has to be amongst them to appeal to reach fans

Futhermore, Enemies - As this structure is a shield world, Its likely Forerunners could still be alive inside, but of course according to Halo: Cryptum, Forerunners wern't too pleased with human technological development thosands of years ago, so to be living in solitude to encounter a legion of humans, Armed to the teeth to become living Weapons They're not gonna be too Pleased

Thoughts?

I dont understand why they are making this game. I love Halo and have played it during times when all my friends were playing COD, but HALO4 makes no sense. First off: the triligy is over and all aliens/flood were neutralized by the firing of halo in HALO3, so there's no way to have a campaign OR firefight. Second: all of Bungie's multiplayer ideas were put into HALO-REACH. The only thing i can think of that'll make this game usefull is to make an ever bigger forge world, or multiple forge worlds, with more items and money to use and some new gametypes, like a Zombies gametype just like in COD. Whatever they do, I hope this game isn't just Microsoft just wants more money or has no more ideas.

Oh young one, you have much to learn. There is (of course) far more story past the trilogy, and there are far worse things in the universe than the Flood and the Covenant.

He is right. Halo's universe is too vast for human literature/forms of entertainment :/

Hell you can even make a game about Jackals and it will still be interesting. There's a story to almost everything

This is True, The covenant is done with but theres still more out there

Brutes have gone wild, savage and are raiding the universe now the covenant is broken, fighting a long war with the sanghelli

And of course, we have the mystery of the Precursors, and as i said earlier, The forerunners, if their still around, arnt gonna take too kindly to Humanity

There are UNSC forces on the planet but they look really degraded and disorganized and it was implied that they may be divided into factions and warring with each other. At one point we see a heavily modified warthog that has had the wheels replaced two kind of anti gravity devices.
Now we know what the spirit of fire was doing.

Anders has been busy.

According to the stories.. there's nothing worse than the flood. For one, they are living AI and they were able to defeat the forerunners with ease.

  • 06.13.2011 10:11 AM PDT

SPQR
Senatus Populusque Romanus
Fear the Legion

This planet sounds like the one which the spirit of fire blasted to dust. That had the flood on it so perhaps the flood will make an appearance again.

I hope that it isn't the spirit of fire. It would mess up the story line. The events that happened in halo wars happened before CE.

This is BS. Pay no attention to this guy, because that is all he wants.

The forerunner planets are reversed, cities are within the outer surface of the planet, that is his first fault. The second fault is MAJOR. Him saying there is ONI on this planet is entirely stupid at the least, there could be no humans on this planet. Master chief activated a distress beacon to be picked up and cortana clearly said it would take a very long time. That means they are outside of human space, very far outside, ONI could not be there.

BLAM!

I usually hate speculation threads, but this one actually sounds legit.

Is there any chance that Guilty sparks could be in this game or is it 100 % no

Out of all of the posts, this post by Wazooty, is the most insightful. I agree with Wazooty. If you believe that this game will continue along the literary storyline, the Micro-Dyson Sphere is the most logical place to start Halo 4. It would also explain how the game can be so vast in nature.

At the end of "Ghosts of Onyx," Dr. Halsey explains to the remaining Spartans and CPO Mendez that they are within the core of Onyx, in a "slipspace bubble of compressed dimensionality." Although the slipspace bubble is small in terms of physical size (small like a bomb-shelter), its "compressed dimensionality" gives it a relative size of "a radius equivalent to the distance of the Earth orbiting its sun (Nylund, pg. 380)."

So, if this is the setting for Halo 4, 343i will have a "planet" with a diameter of 150 million kilometers to work with.

Also, it would allow Dr. Halsey to remain in the storyline. And if anyone thinks like me, it would be pretty badass if CPO Mendez had a role in the game, along with Fred, Linda, Kelly, Tom, Lucy, Ash, Olivia, Mark, and the rest of Team Katana.

Other aspects this setting and character line-up would add, includes the S-III's SPI armor, which although not as strong as the S-II armor, does have constant cloaking/camo capabilities. And of course, the fact that they are in a Forerunner world/shelter means that the game creators would have the ability to start over brand new with enemy and weapons development.

Regardless, the Halo franchise has not let me down so far. It must be difficult trying to gain the approval of an extremely critical fan base. I have loved all of the games, and if you do as well, buy the books. Especially Eric Nylund's books. They are great, and in all honesty, I have enjoyed them as much, if not more than the games.

The only thing that sucks is that Lt. Commander Kurt Ambrose will not be in it if it were to take place in the Dyson Sphere. He is a real badass as well. Thanks for the insight Wazooty.

Sounds like a dysons sphere type thing to me.

What's that?

It's a planet like thing, similar to the one in halo wars, Dr. Halsey also mentioned it in the ghost of onyx.

The precusrsors lol. I think they all have died, but you never know. And besides this is out of the milkey way. I read halo: cryptum and it says in there, the ark is outside the galaxy. When chief blew it up, the ending showed you near the planet. So, the planet must be not that far from the ark.

Solar systems no not exist outside of the galaxy, therefore it is in a galaxy.

okay...

  • 06.13.2011 3:24 PM PDT

This could be a planet like the one in Halo Wars, but they mention there being 'degraded and disorganised" UNSC forces on some websites, this might be planet Onyx!

[Edited on 06.13.2011 5:07 PM PDT]

  • 06.13.2011 5:03 PM PDT

Is it a shield world? The multi-level stuff throws me off but other than that it sounds like one, could it be possible that those levels function as jail-cells for the flood? And that weird ant-gravity warthog actually makes as much sense as a normal one because of the human-elite alliace.

  • 06.13.2011 5:09 PM PDT

Hmmm, Onyx WAS a shield world! But that was before the original trilogy and unless the random slipspace jump ended up SOMEHOW throwing him back to thata exact planet, and the batlle is somehow still going and everyone somehow isn't dead yet, I'm guessing they just look simialar.

  • 06.13.2011 5:18 PM PDT

But I guess the multi-level things don't matter because they weren't ever eally described in detail. (That I remember)
