Halo Anniversary will feature on the fly toggling of old and new graphics. This is a feature I did not expect, and will be interesting, but it has some unfortunate implications. The one that immediately sprung to mind is that The Library, arguably the worst campaign level in Halo history, cannot be radically redesigned, unless the graphics toggle is disabled for that level, which seems unlikely. It seems even weak, boring parts will be left in.
Furthermore, how will even minor changes work? Terminals are being added, which probably means new rooms (though terminals will be easier to find - I actually don't like that idea, as they're de-emphasizing trademark Halo exploration, which was made into a major feature in Halo 2 after the unintended rise of exploration in Halo CE, but has since been greatly downplayed ever since, but I digress), so will the classic layout be changed slightly? What about new weapons and abilities? Will low-fidelity equivalents be designed?
I suppose major alterations could be made, with artificial "original" assets created to mimic the original Xbox style, but I find that unlikely. It doesn't seem that any serious modifications will be made, which I think is good in most cases, but not all.
