Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

Nah, I would hope they left the SoF as the main UNSC focus in any future Halo Wars title.

Somethings are just better as loose ends, if it was all tied up it would get messy ?

Wow, just wow!

Oh, and one other thing I noticed about the actual logo itself:

Go here and look at the patterning on the logo.

Am I the only one who sees a large resemblance to the patterns on Covenant metals, like the Plasma rifle?

Just thought that one was interesting ^_^
I actually noticed that. Pretty interesting. Maybe there will be elites as allies in the game or some other covenant races.

Possible, but if you think back to the Forerunner terminals in Halo 3, you'll notice that they were comprised of hexagons similar to the Covenant ones.

Either way, it means we're getting one old enemy back.

I think the Legendary planet it is a normal planet that was transformed into a Forerunner base.

A) The legendary planet from the end of Halo 3, and from the Halo 4 teaser is in fact not a planet at all, and is actually just a very large ship of sorts.
And:

8/5/08 Bungie Favorites- NoEnd
7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

But that destroys the option of a Halo Wars 2. But seriously I'd like to find out what happened to the crew of the Spirit of Fire. And that would give MC just as much troop support, if not more than he had on the first Halo Ring.

Who's awesome? ^ this guy.

Like I said in my thread, http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=61373480,

I believe the same thing, except I think maybe the flood is there to fight, and I do not believe that the forerunner planet is a ship, I believe that is an entrance for ships, because any intellectual species like the forerunners would probably build a shield around itfor invading forces. I believe Master chief and the spirit of fire will meet up there, I mean, I also believe that other players will play as some of the spartans from red team and 1st player will obviously be the master chief. I have good reason to think the way I do. But any information posted that would be a spoiler might get me a ban.

Are you both blind and deaf?

First off Frankie said those who have watched the end of halo 3 and are familiar with canon would be familiar with the planet.

Not to mention you can clearly see the the planet curve if you look towards the edges of it. I could honest write a good rant on how wrong both of you are

Erku 'Nuhalee

But there would be a huge time difference. Halo Wars was before Halo:CE and Halo 4 is well, after Halo 3... Serina may have gone rampant as well. Sorry if I'm wrong. Very tired...

That could explain him having diffrent armor.

not different armor other than jet pack

Posted by: GhostRyderCA941
We also know that Halo Wars created so many plot holes it's not even funny....

and no

343i will have to explain some armor permutations (thruster pack) other than there built in.

Logical theory though... But it is possible that the entity is a shield world which could introduce new spartans to the plot line (Like Kelly)...

And found information about Black Team and it is said that they are still active spartans... So they might have something to do with the storyline...

  • 06.09.2011 11:39 AM PDT

Maybe SoF is included, who knows.

But the "thing" in the trailer doesn't even look like a planet to me to be honest. You can see its edge on the right, and it doesn't curve like a planet would...

Purely speculation at this point, but from the little we do see its almost like a giant dish with a Dysn Sphere portal in the middle...

That could mean we get teleported to another place, or maybe inside another Shield World.

But I too got the impression that it might be "something" that might be collecting ruins of ships etc it finds. Not quite sure how to explain it, or how to even write down a concept for it that makes sense at the moment. Just a gut feeling of sorts.
And yes, in such a scenario the SoF could be included as well, if it too has been collected...

The premise of having a squad of Spartans with us, and tying up some loose ends seems epic. Even though it would shatter my theory of SoF making it back to Earth...

@ above:
There are many Spartans that are still "alive" or at least not confirmed to be dead and covered in canon fairly close to or during the events at the end of the war.
For instance:
-Grey Team
-Black Team
-Blue Team (Katana)
-Red Team (SoF)

That is at least 12 S2's still "alive"...

EDIT 2:
Ok, seems like its the planet after all. Took a look at this site and you can clearly see there that it is indeed a planet.
Guess we can shoot the Onyx idea by the way (not that I ever believed in that one), as that planet is made up from Sentinals around a Dyson Sphere core...and this planet looks massive.
The Dyson Sphere/Portal concept does seem to be real according to that picture.

Halo 3 Armour

Halo 4 Armour
They are quite different.

As for The Spirit of Fire, I would prefer Halo 4 to expand, creating new places and charicters. Including The SoF would be like trying to tie all the loose ends together.

Halo 4 armor is more canon then Halo 3 armor.

wat.

Frankie said in an interview that there is a reason for the differentiation of armor... But he never said the reason...

Its a Shield World.

Onyx had a similar opening.

No... it didn't. Or if it did, we don't know about it.

The world in Halo Wars may have, but that wasn't Onyx.

Onyx had a portal in the centre of the planet, which took the Spartans, Mendez and Halsey to the Micro Dyson sphere, but the only way to get to the "core room" was via the teleportation pads located all over the planet (as far as we know).

  • 06.09.2011 4:46 PM PDT

Guys, you're forgetting something. You're saying that the SoF can't be there because of the time difference between that and Halo 3 etc. But if you listen to the ending of Halo wars, they go into a cryo-sleep and wake up if they find or encounter something, same as what happened with master chief at the end of halo 3. Who's to say that they weren't in stasis for many many years, then encounter master chief at the same time as encountering the big planet thing. just a thought

Been a Bungie fan since the days of Myth TFL.

OP, I like your theory a lot, I just don't know if 343 would be brazen enough to tie Halo Wars into the 'main' canon.

Re the armor, every Halo is going to have different variations of the same theme. The Halo CE helmet is not the same as the Reach MkV, and so on... subtle differences in an effort to spruce things up. MC is still wearing the same armor he had at the end of Halo 3. It's not like they have spare suits laying around...

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

So Mendicant Bias sent Chief to this mysterious planet and coincidentally, the Spirit of Fire also made it there? No way.
