I think it's a possibility. Nintendo is pushing their new system out by 2012, I think Microsoft will attempt to use Halo 4 as a push off point. Just like they did with 3, to increase the sales of the system.

fukn better not... does it not say 360 at the end of the trailer?

Doubt it, Xbox 360 is still updated every now and then, the 720 won't be out for a few more years.

Sure, but that doesn't mean Microsoft isn't purely out for money and I also doubt they will wait a few more years. They've been working the system for a while now. They will either end up rushing the system, I honestly hope they don't or we will get the 360 red ring problem all over again.

Certainly not, considering the Kinect is supposed to keep the Xbox 360 alive till 2015, and by the sales margin doing quite that and then some. Not to mention we don't know what Halo 4 is doing that even requires that, certainly sales isn't a concerning factor to Microsoft at this point so there is no need for a new console regardless.

Not to mention the updates they're putting out all summer long, when a console is coming out you'll know by the lack of MAJOR updates being pumped into it, we're already expecting a new dashboard.

Did not know that...but to be honest. The Kinect will keep casual gamers entertained for so long. So far every game I had hopes for on that system has let me down. Star Wars Kinect looks extremely slow paced and stupid. Uncaged or whatever it is, it wasn't how I thought it would be. I was expecting to be able to beat the crap out of my friends but you can only do certain moves to actually fight.

While I agree there are some companies that appear to be doing it right way personally. Such as Turn 10 with Forza 4 adding it as a feature for a mode, and optionality such as headtracking, walking around, ignition key/button, etc. Or with Crytek and their Ryze game that we didn't see much of, the concept behind it looks great being able to brutally get involved is an experience that I can only see realistically on a motion control device such as Kinect, whether or not they deliver is another story. It's not the Kinect itself, but merely the developers lacking the experience of it.

At E3 they said "A dawn of a new trilogy on the 360" so Halo 4, 5 and 6 will be on the 360. However I suspect they will save the last sequel (Halo 6) as a launch title for the NextBox, 720 or whatever MS decides to name it. It worked for the 360 they might be banking on it will work for the next console. But just a theory

I expect the new Xbox no earlier than 2014.

There will not be a new console until 2015.

Halo 4 comes out in 2012.

Look at Halo 2 from Halo 3, that was a 3 year time span from 2 consoles.

If there is a Halo game after Halo 4, it could possibly be on the new Xbox.

Hundred, there's no "if" about it - Halos 5 & 6 are confirmed. There will be probably be a Halo 7 as well, and so on. We're talking about Microsoft's flagship franchise.
