This requires a little bit of explaining. I've always been a diehard Nintendo fan. I'd always had the greatest disdain for Sega and Playstation. So to me, the XBox was an abomination. Hearing my friends talk for ages about how great this "Halo" game was, I scoffed. I had seen a couple screenshots, and it didn't look very unique to me. I had no real interest in playing it.

One of my friends had a LAN party for his birthday. We had Counterstrike, and I spent most of the time playing that. But, inevitably, I tried Halo for the first time.

The next day, I went out and bought an XBox, and of course, Halo.

Since then I've been a diehard XBox fan. And of course, the best Halo player I know is myself.

-------

But my absolute favorite Halo time was a LAN party not too long ago. A bunch of friends and I ended up on the same team (it was a most unfair distribution, but since we were messing around most of the time, the teams came out about even). For the next 3 hours, we had a "Choral Halo Party" as I call it. It being about midnight, the neighborhood began to get a little pissed as we sang through our games of HALO.

Songs sung: "Eye of the Tiger," "Lean on Me," "Under the Sea.".... I forget the rest. But it was grand. Absolutely grand.

I was in my second-cousin's (Tim) basement with my brother (Adam) and two cousins (Eric and Carl). My two cousins and I were as bored as hell because we were at my Great Aunt's (Leonilda) house for dinner (my parents were talking for about two hours after we had finished eating). So my two cousins and I went to the basement to see what my brother and Tim were up to. They were playing a strange game that I had never seen before. I played the game for a very short time (for as long as Adam would let me). I drove a jeep with a horrible control layout (I was a hardcore Nintendo player at the time that was used to the Mario Kart control layout). After about ten minutes of playing this horrible game, I left for home with my family. The next day, my brother came home with an Xbox and a game called "Halo: Combat Evolved". I watched my brother playing it and I instantly wanted to play it. When I was finally able to pry the controller from his hands, I started a new profile, Dom (my name is Dominic). Then I started the campaign. At that moment, I became a Halo addict. I guess I just didn't have enough time with the game at Tim's house.

Edit: I even started a clan :)

Dream cast was my thing for a while playing, I loved to play skies of arcadia, and Grandia 2 they were in a way my life. Then my brother and I were thinking of good gift ideas for his birthday so we decided to get a Game Cube. Went to game stop to find that they were all sold out but they had another game console called the Xbox so we got that. Not very happy my brother was when he found what he called it then "a lousiy piece of crap." Then playing our first game on the console in our living room( the game was Blood Wake ) we were like okay this is so-so. 2months later we buy halo. My dad plays it first (lucky devil) and immdeatley get's hooked. It took us 2 hours to get him off and then after that we played a little 2 on 1 ( dada vs. my bro. and I) and we both get just as hooked as my dad. 3 years later I become a pro at halo at almost any gametype ctf, koth, slayer, you name is I do it. But then once I found this site I knew there were more people who felt my obessetion so I created a clan and started going to mlg tournaments and proved myself worthy of the halo universe.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Well you're not going to believe this.

First time I got it I had just gotten my xbox and decided to play the first level on coop. Well when playing with a friend, the game doesn't tell you what button does what but I had the manual out. If you look at the manual it doesn't tell you how to crouch. I also did not know that clicking in the thumbsticks did anything.Needless to say I was stuck at that part on the first level where you have to crouch for about 15 minutes. I was so frustrated.

Me and my old class made a list of what systems were the best First PS2, Gamcube, Then the Xbox, I thought Xbox was stupid and the controllers were terrible. And also, The first 10 minuites I played Halo, I hated it, Thought the controls were stupid and didnt understand the plot, but my friend (not my friend anymore) told me to play for at least 3 levels. Wow, Im mean, it was amazing, I actually got use to the controls and from that point on I loved Halo, Wanted to get an Xbox (had to wait 2 years :/ ) All my buddys have Xbox (10 or so) And the rest have PS2 (7) Its a war that won't end... But anyways, I luvs my Xbox!

I went to a friends house for his 16th b-day party and we started out down stairs doing what we all do best...eat! Well, we ventured up stairs to the media room and started playing X-Box for my first time. We played Blood Wake for a few hours then decided to play HALO. I was a but frustrated when my friend was beating everybody becuase he had been playing it for about a month longer than the rest of us so he knew how to play. Well, I was by far the worst player there. Because we only had one X-Box, we had to alternate players by letting the losers exchange with the person who lost the match before. I was alsways waiting and it sucked. Now, I am just as good as my friend. We play together at least once a week with a bunch of people every Saturday. Last weekend we wanted some practice fot the 2v2 coming up so we played random people from about 8:45pm to 4:30am Sunday morning. We didnt lose to anybody when we were on the same team. When we got split up the score was within about 5 or so. Good post....brings back some great memories. Didnt someone make this before though?

I went on a shopping spree with my mate (and his mum), he had loadsa cash as it was his birthday about a week before. By the way, it was only a few weeks off the XBOX release date

We went to 'Currys' and got an XBOX package (XBOX, Halo, 1 official control and 1 unofficial control) and a Minidisc Player. Then went to 'PC World' to pick up a PC; this wasn't one of his presents but his house was needing a new PC.

We came home and debated on what we should open first. We decided to open the XBOX first. We set it up, put Halo in the CD drive and made a profile each (Jase and Tom). We sat and played for 3 hours straight (gfinished to AotCR in co-op in Heroic) then eventually went to sleep.

Woke up next morning and went out for the day; didn't get in till dark. We began playing Halo again and of course started where we left off ('GS343'). It was really creepy and we eventually got through; we crapped ourselves when we found the Flood.

Eventually finished the game and began playing co-op.

I was skint and waiting til Christmas. I got £200 for Christmas and went out 2 days later and bought an XBOX and Unreal Championship (the next game we got into).

I now own:
* Halo
* Unreal Championship
* Enter the Matrix
* Conflict Desert Storm
* Conflict Desert Storm II
* Rollercoaster Tycoon
* Counterstrike
* Rainbow Six 3
* Burnout 2
(Oh and a crappy 'Jet Set Radio Future' and 'GT Sega 2000' double disc)

'Halo' set me off into a FPS frenzy, 'Enter the Matrix' got me into TPS and recently 'Burnout 2' has got me into racing games a lot more.
