If no, speculate! What do you think he would come out of cryo sleep for?

Hmm, thinking about it - you have a good point. It seems like something drastic
has happened to Chief. I'd say no.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

how about the CGI trailer is a mere teaser and thus shouldn't really be considered yet.

If you haven't noticed, pieces of Chief's armor is missing in that trailer.

That doesn't mean anything. i am saying we shouldn't be taking everything of the announcement trailer as permanent.

  • 06.08.2011 4:39 PM PDT

He didn't have a jet before so I'm assuming he woke up, found one in the ship somewhere, wore it in case he need it and then went back to bed.

Right, but we do have the right to speculate. It was already confirmed by Frankie anyway that something has happened to Chief, but they will explain that closer to release date.

if he left, I doubt he'd come back, because if he did leave his cryo chamber before, it has to be for a good reason.

Yes it is his first time coming out of cryo. People are so dumb who think the opening cutscene will be exactly like the trailer with no explanation as to why he has all that new -blam!-. Everything will be explained and MC escaping the breaking Dawn might even be the first mission... but only if it gets attacked by some type of enemies.

No, he had an armor change or something (we don't know yet), but you can't change your armor and put on a jetpack while frozen and unconcious.

ugh. Not a jetpack, a zero-g thruster... Already had one of these ergo unless he took it off he didn't need to put it back on

  • 06.26.2011 6:46 PM PDT

No it isn't.

The interview IGN had with 343i hints at it, but it's more like a yes.
(Not Exact Quote)
Well, this may not be exactly after the events of Halo 3. Some things may have happened during Halo 3 and Halo 4.

The Chief is never beaten.

The details of the announcement trailer are irrelevant. The armor change/jetpack etc. could be additions for the benefit of the game, not continuity, and 343 can whip up whatever story they want to cover for the changes.

Personally, I hope it's his first time out. Otherwise it destroys the meaning of the "wake me when you need me" thing. I loved that they kept that in the trailer, how when Cortana called him he pretty much instantly shot up and was all tits or gtfo.

Franky said they would explain the change.

Link?

  • 06.26.2011 8:02 PM PDT

no one explaination i came up with for the armor changes is that although the spartan armor is very tough being in cyro for so long could damage it make the metal plates brital freezing up circult etc. so cortana wakes chief up and gets chief to use tools and some parts from the ship to fix these problems before they are life threatening
for those who might say why would he use parts from the ship some of the circults or other compatable pieces

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

It better be because if he managed to get new armor while flatting around in deep space that was conveniently in the Dawn, why didn't he put it on before traveling to the Ark in Halo 3?

Ugh. No, you're wrong... MJOLNIR Mark VI did not have a built in thruster pack.

You can't prove that.

My guess: He has mark VI armour and navigates around with he wakes up. He gets pulled in whatever that thing is and then after an encounter, his armour might get damaged or judged unfit for the situation. Automated machines then upgrade his armour.

That's what I think.

Well, I can actually, because no canonical source has ever stated that Mark VI had a built in thruster pack, it is a flat, unsubstantiated assertion spawned from a quote mine of TFoR.

You're asuming that I got that idea from there?

No.

There is no canonical source that states the contrary. So you can't. Don't be mendicant for support with your bias.

You're right.

There is no canonical source that states Mark VI armor doesn't have a built in grappling hook, therefor, it must have one!
