I posted here days ago and it has not shown up, has it been deleted or something? Come to think of it, this happens quite a bit on these forums.

Edit: As soon as I posted it popped up, nevermind.

If I remember correctly, those "little Mac's" created the first Halo. I think that Macintosh donated them to Bungie to make the first Halo, then they were bought up by Microsoft.

For all i care i want to play Halo 3 but M$ can kiss my b@lls with that Halo 2 for PC only for windows Vista crap going on....M$ and bungie are litterally $hitting on their fans with this.....nobody wants to move to vista yet..not just for a game anyways...

It is a good thing to have a new windows wich i am sure everybody will have at some point of time in the near future but to try to make people buy a new OS for a game that they might want on a PC wich is in console right away...that's beyond me...if the guy above had any say in the above decision by Bungie and M$ he is a bigger fool than me cause i ain't gonna buy vista to play Halo 2 for pc...maybe an xbox360 but not a whole godamn os and pc for a game that is only 50$ ...what brand of wacky tabaco are the suits at M$ smoking i may want some to smoke on weekends.....

So who's the idiot who decided to bring H2 on Vista only??? I can't see everyone going out and buying Vista just to play one game. Plus it also looks to be another Duke Nukem thing over again, as H2 was supposed to be out last year already. I've already got Halo 1, and love it. I've seen the Xbox version of Halo 2, and know that the PC port will look and play better. So where is it?? I'd like to play it now..!! :-(

the fact of the matter is that if you only have a pc like id do then halo 2 cannot be played...microsoft announced halo 2 for vista only....therefore no matter what you have to either buy

A: the original xbox ( wich does not make sense spending money on now)

B: the xbox 360 ( wich is at least 500$ + for me here)

C:wait and get vista wich will cost probaly close to 300$ + 50$ for the game without even knowing if my pc is able to push the new os properly while playing the game and that is for one game only...

So what choices does microsoft leave me if i really want to play the game...

Don't you see that it is all a gimmick to make you buy expensive microsoft product in the near future...

i am not impressed and it is an underhanded way to deal with fans...

i really want an xbox360 and i am gonna get one soon but the way microsoft is doing business is crass!!!

They think that because they are so big that people will fall for

OH well i guess we don't have too much choice we have to go with microsoft...

i guess they forget that some time ago companies like atari and sega were major players in the video game world and look at them now...now that is a lesson...

you don't listen to you customers and you try to keep shoving your company's thing in their mouth well after a while the customer will get sick and tired of it and just go on to something else....

Actually, you've probably bought XP. So you've invested in a MS product right there. I would also guaruntee to you that Bunige will release both the minimum and recommended PC specs for Halo 2 VIsta well before time.

Plus, an operating system can do SOO much more than just play 1 game. It won't be long until a lot more games become Vista. And a lot of applications to. being that Halo 1 is 5 years old and the online PC community is still strong i think you can wait for a year or so if you really want to.

Also, Bungie haven't said they WON'T make a Mac version soon anyway. And bungie being a mac company to begin with you can bet they are gonna try their hardest to get a mac version out. So you only have to buy a Bungie product to play it then if you have a Mac.

Like frankie said as well. Recognise that this is a 100% improvement. Before this there was NO Halo 2 PC at all. At least it has broadened your options.

No, that is not what I meant. People will not switch operating systems for a game. What I was trying to state was that Microsoft is going to be giving up on XP in the near futrue and "when" the user decided if he/she is going to stick with a M$ product or change to an other operating system. MAC and Linux are much more secure than windows due to the way their "kernel" is programmed. (I hope you know what that is). With my Linux system (Debain 2.6.15) I don't need an Anti-Virus but I do have one installed since there are Windows machines on my network and I am behind a "hardware" firewall. Vista will fail due to the fact the when the PS3 comes out, it will have a built-in 60gig HD, xbox-live type of service that will be FREE for online play and last but not least.....IT WILL COME PRELOADED WITH LINUX! When the public gets to see how easy and powerful linux has become, I feel more and more will switch over. The PS3 will change what happens in our living room and Mircosoft knows this.

I just can't wait to get my hands on this little beauty and put my xbox, xbox360 up for sale on ebay.

PS I am from Planet Earth and I built custom computers for a living and over 90% of my clients install Linux on their new PC's!

Need I say more?.

alright, first off understand that change is good. i am not advocating for MS, but i do understand the need to make the change.
take a look at this video, http://gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=2509 ...
MS and Bungie want to make halo2 look something close to that, and that requires more power. most gfx cards (6 and 7 series nvidia and/or ati x1800 x1900 series) can handle it, but DX10 is the new '-blam!-e' giving programmers more freedom in coding. Vista and DX10 changes the way prgrms are coded and MS is trying to bring HALO2 for pc as a astounding product for a vista launch, ..if you look at it like you are selling your product, something that boosts its sale makes sense.

now, you dont have to go and buy halo2, so stop beeotching whether or not its xp compatible. even my pc config, which is pretty high enough can deal with most games, but i am going to wait and upgrade later for vista. eventually all games will be dx10 so the choice is upto you, move now or move 2years later or whatever.
the current dx9 games will be supported on vista, and until the end of 2007 i think most games will still be dx9 supported. MS is also getting a dx10 version for XP ready, so other than the fact that HALO2 is vista only, theres nothing to complain.

With the new power of the next generation consoles, (PS3, Xbox360, Rev) more and more people will be playing games on consoles instead of PC's. PC's in the near future will mostly be used as they were meant to be used as.....workstation. Most game developers now will rather code for a console system than the PC's due to the fact of all the hardware consideration you need for the different types of configurations. Windows Vista features "new" desktop features have been around for years on the MAC and Linux (KDE).

Halo 2 right now suffers with a plague of cheaters when you go and play it online. Its story is not as good as Halo 1 or even Killzone for the PS2. Alot of PFS have come out that are just as good or even better than Halo 2 but that of course is an opinion. In the end I can see Windows losing more and more of the desktop for home users and PS3 winning the war in the living room. I'll just wait 2 years to see if my perdiction comes true.

nobody's gonna get their paws anytime soon on halo 2 anyways...
gamespot as on their website that vista is delayed until next year apparently....so much for playing halo 2 on pc before x mas even if you had bought vista....

here is the link to that news!!!!

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146360.html?q=vista

it just goes to show bungie that if they had tought with their heads and not bend to the will of microsoft and supported halo 2 for windows xp they would not look like complete idiots now....they have to wait for the company that ordered vista support only just to be shafted by that same company ( microsoft) ....

bungie decided to shaft their halo pc fans and now bungie is getting shafted by microsoft..this is called sweet irony ....or what goes around comes around or you reap what you sow....ahahahhahahahhaha

i love this.....i got a 360 now and halo 2 for peanuts but i still -blam!- for the poor lads that have only a pc to play with.....ahahahhahahah

THE IRONY IS SO GREAT!!!!!!

I saw that video sb85 and it look quite impressive.

Have you seen any promos for the PS3 games? With the "Cell" powering the the next sony console I believe that kind of "eye candy" can be done with the PS3. When you look at the hardware specs of the PS3 and see how powerful it really is, then you realize that this can be done with a game cosole.

Even though my personal computer is "dated" I dont plan on spending any more $$$ for any upgrades. It does it job very well when I need it to. I hardly use my PC for gaming now (I only play BZflag on it www.bzflag.org) and enjoy more and more playing game consoles. (I have a PS2, Xbox, and Xbox360).

Game consoles are the way to go nowadays for gaming.

i see your point as well, but tell me, unless you have a hdtv monitor, is it actually worth having a x360? i have seen few games on x360 on a normal 29" tv compared to a plasma tv, and boy is it different. now the issue lies...how many people can afford:
1) 400$ xbox360
2) 1200$ (min) hdtv
3) 60$/ game ..i am sure you are not buying just 1 game....

ps: no offense, but the ps3 videos looked like cg to me. if ps3 shows something like graw for x360 then i would be impressed. actually i do remember seeing formula1 for ps3, but still unsure if thats cg or gameplay.

If you look at the trend that are going on today there a few point I would like to make.

People are spending less time in movie threaters and spending more money on a "home threater system" which more than likely will include a "HDTV".

The sales of laptops are increasing as the sales of desktops are decreasing.

The growth of MAC's and Linux are slowly eating away at Windows market share of the desktop. Mircosoft knows this and are very worried. (google Mircosoft halloween papers).

There will always be the "hardcore" PC gamer (by looking at the specs of your computer you look like one....very nice) who will never convert to a "console" gamer. These hardcore gamers will likely be also decreasing in numbers due to the fact of the awesome power of these next generation consoles.

Now for a few facts about the PS3 and Xbox360.
What really angers me about my Xbox360 is that not all my orginal xbox games will play on it due to the fact that each game needs it own "emulator" to run their specific game. I have reported 2 bugs to Mircosoft about their emulator (1 for Halo 1 and the other for Halo 2) and I'm glad to see that they have fixed these issues. Also my Xbox360 also suffers games "freezing" and the only way to get around this is to restart the system. You and I both know when this happens it is usually due to the fact that the chipset on the mobo is overheating. For me the Xbox360 was released too soon since it is a very buggy piece of hardware.

For the PS3 Linus Trovalds (the creator of Linux) has updated the latest Linux kernel (2.6.18 I believe) to take full advantage of the "Cell" processor. Sony will use this latest verison with their own Linux Distro to take full advantage of all the hardware of the PS3. Even "hardcore" gamers who love to play via a keyboard and a mouse will be able to do this with the PS3. The PS3 will be 100% backward compatible with all orginal PS2 games. (unlike the xbox360).

As for the PS3 game trailers, the newest ones are gameplay (thats what the website says) but it is true the first were not (Killzone 2 for example)

I guess we will have to wait to the end of 2006 to see what the PS3 can really do....about the same time Halo 3 is to come out right?

I just find that strange dont you?

i agree with you on most of those points, anything dedicated to a specific purpose works much better than an general purpose machine. but pc's are going next-gen with dx10 and theres no doubt about it. i heard that ghost recon adv warfighter is just amazing on the 360, but i can only compare once i have played it on my pc...
although i have played on consoles, i feel a kybrd and mouse are more sensitive and ease of use is greater...but thats just a computer user talking.

halo3 n ps3..heh should be fun to watch when they are released...but i think they are both scheduled for an early 2007 release....

ps: constructive criticism posts always good for the community;)

Very true that constructive criticism is good for the community.

From reading on the specs of the PS3, you will be able to use your mouse and keyboard for games also. I perfer to use the keyboard/mouse combo as to a gamepad but I have gotten use to a gamepad now. This will appeal to the "hardcore PC" game like yourself.
Another point about next generation console is the Floating Point Performance of the PS3. It is calcutaed at about 2.18 Teraflops (wow) compared to only 1 Teraflop for the Xbox360. With this performance more than doubled that of the Xbox360 here we can see if the game is coded correctly, the programmers can take full advantage of this superior system to bring "life like physics" into any game. Also with the 7 SPEs of the Cell, the kernel of the PS3 will be written so that each SPE can perform calculations and run instructions sets indepently of one another.

In the end, it will be upto the game developers to take full advantage of the hardware or they will just end up with a so-so game. We both know that there is alot of "garbage" games on all consoles and the next generation will also get their fair share of "-blam!-".

As to Halo 2 on Vista...............been there done that with my xbox and xbox360.
As I stated in a previous post, if Mircosoft really wanted to thank their loyal following, then they should have released Halo 2 on the XP platform period.
