OK now that the news is out, lets all throw out ideas and suggestions of what we would like to see in Halo 2 PC. This is a great oppurtunity because the Bungie guys are lurking about in here reading these comments. Please keep the posts mature and do not partake in Bungie bashing(we want them to listen to us). I will edit this first post as you guys add new suggestions so that all the suggustions will be listed in this first post. I will try to be impartial to all ideas but will not put in childish or foolish suggestions.
Ideas in bold have been suggested multiple times, usually more then 6.
Suggestions
1) Do the netcode right If 56K truly does mess up the code then leave it out. However it it can be done Halo 2 should support 56K BUT make a setting on the DS for Broadband only or 56K only, that will only allow those kinds of connections to join. That way you can have servers for 56Kers and servers for broadband and never the two shall meet.
3) (confirmed)Built in favorite server/Buddy list We have to use X-fire right now. It would be nice if you had one built in to the game. Also feed more info to X-fire so that more stats and info can be displayed in X-fire.
4) An anti-cheat/hack solution. Not sure what would work best but we need SOMETHING to identify who is cheating and to block them from doing it on our servers. It would be nice if it could be turned off letting modders runs mods and such.
5) (confirmed)Voice over IP in game chatting. All you have to have is a mic and you can talk to the other players on the server. There should be a mute button in case one of the player is idiot spouting profanity and such.
6) Spectator mode Basically you can join a server and watch the action from a floating camera view. The players in the match cannot see you and you do not cause too much/any lag in the match. There could also be an admin/ref mode where you see the action through the players view, thus letting you see if they have any mods or hacks running.
7) On-line Co-op play for the Campaign. I beleive this was promised in Halo PC but Gearbox stuggled with it too much and it got dropped. If it is possible to do, it would be great to play the story with someone else over the Internet.
9) (confirmed)NEW MAPS It would be great if you gave us the Halo PC maps plus the Halo 2 maps and threw in some new ones too.
10) (shot down)Make a Mac port also and release it at the same time. That where you guys got started don't forget your roots. Oh and the port should be easier now that the Macs are sporting Intel x386 chips.
11) New vehicles It would be nice if you threw in a new vehicle as a treat. Pelicans and ATV have been suggested the most but a gauss hog might be easier. Also how about a mech or something like those things in the Matrix: Revelation movie they were defending Zion with.
12) Vote ban/kick system If one player is being disruptive the other players could vote and kick him off. This means the players moderate themselves instead of having a admin have to clean up the server.
13) Away-from-Keyborad(AFK) kick on the servers Very simple if a player does not budge in 2 min they get kicked I was monitoring the Bungie Servers with X-fire and noticed that a certain player was logged into the server AFK for over TWO DAYS!!!! DAYS!! That is redic...No that is ludicrous.
14) No auto-aim as in Halo PC. The mouse is more accurate so we don't need it.
15) New gametypes Maybe have some objective based gametypes like CS and others
16) Automatically detect net connection speed. When the game is started it detects your internet connection speed and sets it for you. In fact the player can not set it at all so that it is accurate. Right now if you set your internet speed to something other then what it is you can cause yourself to warp making it harder to hit you.
17) Setting so you can teammates name visable all the time. Right now you have to aim right at them to get the name to pop up. Obviously you shouldn't be able to see the enemies name because it may give away there position.
18) Easy way to disable the HUD. For those making movies and montages it looks better without the HUD.
19) In game media player. A simple media player built into the game so you can hit a button and skip a song while your in the thick of the battle.
20) Player stats tracking - The Bungie.net stats tracking was groundbreaking with its XML feeds. I expect the same again, but with even more detailed information. See Battlefield 2 for examples of detailed stats tracking.
Server stats tracking - I would like to see XML feeds spitting out of all the dedicated servers to master stats servers. I want to view any dedicated server's current playlist for my web browser and in-game UI. I want to be able to discover the most popular servers or the servers that are dedicated to a certain gametype via the XML data.I want to see the server's all-time stats and examine the stats of the players that have joined up to that server. This will link back to Player stats tracking mentioned above. The community hacked this out with perl scripts in HALO PC, but it was very limiting. XML feeds please.
21) You should have to hit a button to pick up and return the flag. You don't know how frustrating it is to have one guy to kill to get away with the flag and you get smoked because you kept picking up the flag instead of filling him with holes. GRrrrrr...
22) More then 11 characters in your profile name. Where did the number 11 come from anyway? I could understand 8 (bits) or 12 (even) but where the hell did 11 come from? Make it 16 or 20 so we can put some personality in our names.

23) Volunteer admins on Bungie servers. We appreciate that Bungie setup the servers and they are the best servers out there but having no admins has allowed certain people to disrupt players enjoyment on those servers.
24) Customizable Message of the Day for Dedicated servers. Like they made for Halo CE but without taking up the whole screen and blocking the first 5 second of your sight.
25) Report upcoming map/gametype while in Post Game Lobby - After a game has ended, I want to see what map, gametype, and gametype settings are next in the rotation.
26)(sorta confirmed) A Web-based ~rcon (remote console). Similar to UT2004, allow me to log into my dedicated server from a web-browser to modify gametypes, playlists, upload content, reboot the server, and so on. This takes a huge load off the server admin and delegates administration to the hired help (other server admins).
27) Clans - Allow me to create a clan, much like I did in HALO 2 for XBOX from within the software. Allow me to invite players and give members certain roles in the clan. Allow the display of an in-game clan tag before all game usernames (i.e. [tAg]). Allow that clan tag to be changed at any time. Allow clan stats to be tracked and exported to XML. This would be an excellent opportunity for Bungie to add life to the Seventh Column chapters. Archonos?
28) Distiguished text for in-game chat - I want to distinguish between Team chat and Game chat via colored, or perhaps italicized, text. Also let everyone see who got the killtacular or assassination.
29) (confirmed)Map editor - There have been two sides in the argument of how complex the map editor should be. The common theme is that if you make it too user-friendly there won't be as much functionality. One camp wants to make it as easy as possible the other want it to be full-featured which would make it complex. I say screw conventional wisdom and make a full-functioned map editor that really easy to learn and use.
30. Redo the spawn points. The spawn points are too clustered around one area. I'm not sure how other games handle it but it's too easy to rack up spawn kills. Or the fact that you can be walking along minding your own business and a 3-ton Warthog materializes directly above your head. Team slayer spawns should be on opposite sides of the map.
31. Bring back the Race gametype. It was unique and a lot of fun, and if possible let the person setting up the game choose where the flag points are. This would lead to some interesting configurations. Make descructable vehicles optional
32. Fix the "superbounce", the "BRB/BRX" exploits and any other Havoc engine exploits being used in Xbox live. These are unrealistic and unfair if you don't know how to use them. If want to make them available for mods that's OK but they should be removed from normal multi-player.
33. (shot down)"Bots" Incorporate bots into multiplayer to add obsticles to both teams. Maybe have them man stationary guns or defend the flag. You could also give them levels of accuracy to make the game harder. Would probably need the talents of a AI programmer with mad skillz. Got any of those on the H2Vista team?
34. Be able to see what starting weapons are from the lobby & X-fire, and be able to filter by weapon set. One-step further have a lobby before players enter the game where they can see the starting weapons and read the server rules posted by the admin. If they don't like the setup they can hit back and return to the server list.
35. Be able to select any weapon combination for the gametype by checking a box to include the weapon on the map. I should be able to remove the RL and Feul-rod from the map, or just play with Plasma Rifle and shotgun.
36. Add support for the Logitech G15 keyboard and others like it.
37. (confirmed)Add support for widescreen resolutions since I just bought a widescreen monitor.
38. Options to add weather effects and choose between night and daytime to the map.
