camo isnt only restricted to the jungle, there are ice levels and there is camo that would suit. but one common misunderstanding with camo is that it is supposed to help you "hide behind a tree", actually cammo is supposed to save your backside when you arnt under cover. basicaly what happens when you look at something from a distance you cant make out all the details, so your brain "fills in" the outline and you figure out what it is. so cammo is supposed to stop your figure from filling in and forming the shape of a person, or what ever the camo is applied to. so despite how cool all that hunting cammo looks, alot of it is crap. anyway! i would like to see some interesting adaptations to vehicles, or perhapes even the chiefs armor. som more customisation on the chief could be interesting.

Heyyo,

Err.. you guys realise that in HaloCE for the custom maps you could mod it such as creating whole new vehicles... like how they added in the pelican n' such into multiplayer, and made the gauss hog for H2CE. So yes, it already was possible in Halo Custom Edition to "pimp your warthog" you just had to make a map is all. ;)

im more than well aware with the posibilities of mods, but i dont want mods, i want "official" skins from bungie. that way i dont have to mod anything, i dont have to wait for it to be released, and i know it will look good.

how sweet :). but what i said was logical, i mean would you rather wait for something that will potentialy be of lesser quality? especially when you could get it with the cd, no need to find the custom content, and bungie has relatively high bar for their stuff.

Meh...what can i say Spartan 012...:) i can`t stand this place...usualy...but now that we have Halo2 PC over the horizon heck yeah i`m back...there is actualy a new topic to debate over here! :D I was getting sick of bs threads about how Me=King is a tking piece of scum or how some PC hatchling wants help with his system so naturaly i got fed-up with this crud...but i`m back and mor annoying then ever.

Returning to the topic:

As i said...it`ll be a new game and not just a simple port so lots of things can be done with it...if they actualy want to....ok don`t do much with the Singleplayer but in the Multiplayer dept. you could add tons of new content wich makes the game infinitly better then then xbox version and considering that we get a new game once in a blue moon, putting these extras and multitude of features would keep us entertained for another 3 or 4 years till microsoft decide to launch halo3 pc...2 years after halo 3 xbox :P

I think that the BR should have a swith firing mechanism. Like you can switch it to burst fire (Halo 2 version) And single shot version (E3 Demo). Iggwilv put that, thats a great idea and can save you ammo on Legendary!

I think that's an awful idea, there shouldn't be any changes to the actual gameplay, only more customisation and extra features, with maybe some bugfixes. Changing the gameplay changes the game so you'd be getting "Halo 2 with some extra crap added PC" rather than "Halo 2 PC".

Actualy it`s a good idea Spartan 012...i remember how switching from burst to single shot helped me so much in Call of Duty 1 and 2...battle rifle...tommy gun...same shait...so yeah the idea is good and very usefull in high dificulty situations

I thought i'd add 2 more ideas.... 2 which will make things easier and add alot more people into the fray!

Multi Lingual support (so people in france, german, england, and other contries which didnt' get halo one for pc, can get it.)

And... Support for color preferance... i know the clan system works with that, but unless you have a central server for the clan system... we're not looking at a very stable clan system. So color preferance might help with some conflicts...


Oh, third idea... Allow us to play against those on xbox too. Have it like a new option for the xbox players to decide if they want to block out all PC servers or not, and only allow PC players play on PC. That way, the xbox players can have privacy, but still play against us.

Oh yea, 4th idea... Let us do barrel rolls and flips in the flying vehicles. It'll add some effect to the game play if we can fly higher and do more tricks. Wouldn't really be an advantage to either side except for in shee vs shee fights, but even that would be a little cleaner and quicker.

EDIT AGAIN: i don't mean press a button and do manuvers, i mean full control of the figher or whatever... Which means you'll have to change the controsl for the banshee... the problem is, do those manuvers and such and your'e still putting up with the same crap. How about freeflight controsl where you have to press the straif buttons to turn on your side and such and press down to go up and up to go donw or something like that rather than continually making slow annoying little effect horizontal turns.

Have you seen some of the CE stuff? Alot of people have very high standards for their work. There are a great many custom textures that look as good, if not better than bungies. Don't bash the modding community because in many cases, they can produce superior work.

so i really doubt that they will make 256mb of ram work, seriously. and as elimicker said sticks of 256mb of ram are cheap, and its pretty much become the standard of todays computer to have a minimum of 256. Ofcourse there will be ways to turn of alot of the particles, and texture detail, and model detail, and resolution, blah blah blah. every game has that. you also might want to reconsider getting halo 2 for vista, because if you cant get enough money for ram (1 minute on newegg.com and i find a stick for 18 bucks), will you even fork out the money for the operating system, not to mention you would have to back up all your data or lose it.



If money was a problem, we wouldn't even be getting halo 2... Then again... Unless i find away other than through the internet to get some PC parts, i'm screwed. I have no way of getting anything online with money... I'm kinda screwed, ya know? And i'm sure there are other people, even younger people who have htat problem. I just want 256 to at least fit the minimum requirements...

Port to XP. Definitely.

Maybe Mac too? I don't really care about anything else; I'm fine with any way they do the online, but definietely make it XP compatible.

its not a new game, its the same game on a different platform, and thus a port. true lots of new things can be done but as the popular yet annoying saying goes "if it ain't, broke dont fix it.". its true that some things could do with alittle more tweeking, and some new features should be added.

its not so much a bad idea, infact i would love to use that, but the problem is that there are already guns to support those functions (smg, pistol), as much as those might suck, they are there so there isnt an all in one combo rifle. Besides if it is put into the single player it will be demanded that it be put into the multiplayer and would need to be rebalanced.

interesting idea, so you mean just have another matchmaking option for playing against people on PC? might push people to move to the pc version, especialy if they know they are missing out on some neat little extras like new warthog skins and stuff.

it would be nice to just hold strafe untill you are upsidedown, and it would take some skill to dodge a rocket like that (not entirely sure how it would all work though). having to use the movement controls for moving isnt such a great i dea (wsad, or arrows). the forward button is used to increase your forward momentum, and back to slow it. but to change the left and right buttons, from strafing to the left or right would be silly. being able to strafe can be a usefull manuever, more so than being able to fly upside down i think. also strafing isnt for turning, its for well strafing, if you need to turn use your mouse...

dont give me that crap, ive worked with mods, and ive seen some very impressive things, i am not "bashing" the modding community by any means. but as i, and i would assume you, are well aware, the modding community doesnt always come out with the best stuff. alot of people release crap that is based around fart jokes, and over the top swearing. so im just saying that i would like it to be released by bungie because then it is guaranteed to be of excellent quality, and there will be no waiting period for the mod to be released.

man i need to watch what im typing more often, at one point in my post i meant the common standard is 512mb. in anycase look at the games being released now. alot of minimum requirements are 512mb of ram. not that it applies but the game F.E.A.R. has a minimum video card requirement of a nvidia 6600. and this is similar to the 56k thing heres a quote of my post about that, its pretty much applies.

just because you cant get dsl doesnt mean that you should instantly be allowed into a broadband intensive area. thats like saying "i cant get/afford a good suit so ill just go to the fancy dance in my overalls.", if you did that, you would probably be stopped at the door. and if you were let in, you would be hampering the experience of everyone else, and you would be scorned. (pretty good for on the fly), once again i will say i dont intend to be mean, but thats how it is, and at this particular dance i say the overalls go.

yeah i figured you havnt read the whole topic, and they havnt said anything about mac yet, and xp is not gonna happen. as for the fuel rod it should definately be allowed. it just doesnt have to be added to any "official" gametypes. so if you dont like the fuel rod, either dont put it in that particular game, or find another server, or i suppose you could find a way to get around it.

Fuel Rod...Duhh...All weapons should be on there...
I like the switching from burst fire to single shot...
Just like desert storm...I think maybe two added special
vehicles....one more human and one more Alien...
The pelican though would cause lag...Right?
Although who knows? The Vista could improve many things
of your computer...we don't know much about our limits.
I think the Map making thing, would be awesome...
It should be easy enough for a teenager to find out...
But not too lame...I would want full terain access...
I want to make hills and bumps...and trees...
None of that FLAT surface stuff...that makes me mad.

Ya, if we have the ability to mod stuff easily and greatly that would produce great mods. Since people with great ideas can do them without worrying about how to do it. For example with acutual bases and foxholes with a decent field inbetween with decent cover like small rockets trees and bushes be good. For Ctf games it would be a pretty good map. But if the editor is toocomplex to use, thenhow can you make the map without learning everything there is to know about the editer.

Imagine people shooting from foxholes only when a rocket blows it up during a team assult on the base.

Also I'm not talking about bases just to house the flag, I'm talking about acutal bases so people can hold up in and fire from with some decent cover.

I always wanted a fox hole or a trench to use
for extra cover...thatd be awesome.
and machine guns you could use to defend
other people in the hole with you...
I would like a few extra large maps like
Coagulation and Zanzibar. With a map editor
it can be done! If its hard to use though...it'd be tough.

i prefer a map maker that is inherently tough to use, and has a relatively high learning curve. it promotes people who will take the time, and care to learn, and love their creations, and create something great. and if the editor is too easy to use, then there are alot of idiot teenagers (not all teenagers are idiots just alot), creating idiot maps, and flooding the community with crap. as for a pelican creating lag, no thats not the case. the problem with the pelican is that it is large, and is meant to carry troops a long distance, a distance that is too long to walk. many soldiers in the real life run many miles a day. so to have a huge lumbering pelican (that would also be very hard to kill), on a small map like coagulation (coagulation isnt a small map, but to ask for a pelican it is), is just impractacle.

Well, itdoesn't have to be easy enough for a10 year old to use, something inbetween, not easy not hard.

Also about the pelican, use on small maps it's impractatacle however on some pretty decent large maps like blodd gulch it can be pretty good. It'd be nice for team operations on afull server. For example, a warthog on blood gulch fully loaded attacks and starts raiding the other teams base. Two other guys come in and get the flag. Then the pelican comes in with 2 other guys protecting the pelican entrance. Then all 4 of them move out onto the pelican and while the pelican flys away the guys fire on the other team to supress any other remaining oppostion. The warthog goes back and they get the flag.

Also, the map editor doesn't alway have to make brand new maps and etc. but add stuff to already existing maps. Add more complexity to the bases on each map for ctf, add more defensve option for the base, more cover, foxhole sniping postions, machine guns. Man it would be pretty cool if the bases were more complex, you know something to hold out in so if your base is being seiged by heavy armor and heavy weapons etc you can stay in there for protection. Then come up with a way to counterattack and stop the seige. Also this can help spawn camping and spawn killing.

Editing existing maps...niice...
I would make coagulation basically expand by like...2X
and add more detail to the area. I agree complex bases would be nice.

See what I picture is a new game type a war game type, Where when you take the enemy base you win. Where each base is a bit complex with defense primeters like foxholes, fortificated turret postions, and a base in the middle, then using strategy and teamwork you overtake the postions and the base and you win. That would be pretty cool. Or this coluld work with ctf. :)
