Are you guys sure because I play halo 1 for the X-box at a friends house and I own halo 1 pc. The grapics look very................odd on the pc version for me.

who knows, maybe it's just me. But moving along now, I have another suggestion. SInce the flame thrower and fuel rod gun were not in halo 2 for x-box, they should keep them for halo 2 pc.

OK now that the news is out, lets all throw out ideas and suggestions of what we would like to see in Halo 2 PC. This is a great oppurtunity because the Bungie guys are lurking about in here reading these comments. Please keep the posts mature and do not partake in Bungie bashing(we want them to listen to us). I will edit this first post as you guys add new suggestions so that all the suggustions will be listed in this first post. I will try to be impartial to all ideas but will not put in childish or foolish suggestions.

Suggestions
1) Make the game compatible with Windows XP. Personally I think this decision to make it for Vista only is set in stone and will not be changed, but it was the most asked for/whined about suggestion in this thread so here it is. It would be nice if possible to have two version of the program and depending on what version of Windows you had installed would install the correct one.

2) Do the netcode right Gearbox screwed the netcode BAD. They said the 56K requirement messed it up. I don't beleive this because Halo CE(Gearbox's fix) was broadband only and still had lag. Not as much but still there. If 56K truly does mess up the code then leave it out. However it it can be done Halo 2 should support 56K BUT make a setting on the DS for Broadband only or 56K only, that will only allow those kinds of connections to join. That way you can have servers for 56Kers and servers for broadband and never the two shall meet.

3) Built in favorite server/Buddy list We have to use X-fire right now. It would be nice if you had one built in to the game

4) An anti-cheat/hack solution. Not sure what would work best but we need SOMETHING to identify who is cheating and to block them from doing it on our servers. It would be nice if it could be turned off letting modders runs mods and such.

5) Voice over IP in game chatting. All you have to have is a mic and you can talk to the other players on the server. There should be a mute button in case one of the player is idiot spouting profanity and such. You may want to force a "push to talk" button so we don't have to hear the players belching and coughing.

6) Spectator mode Basically you can join a server and watch the action from a floating camera view. The players in the match cannot see you and you do not cause too much/any lag in the match. There could also be an admin/ref mode where you see the action through the players view, thus letting you see if they have any mods or hacks running.

7) On-line Co-op play for the Campaign. I beleive this was promised in Halo PC but Gearbox stuggled with it too much and it got dropped. If it is possible to do, it would be great to play the story with someone else over the Internet.

8) Greater then 16 players in a match. Now most of the maps have been designed for 16 or less. Only Infinity it seems would not be crowded with more then 16 players. So if there were 9) NEW MAPS created that were larger you could put 20 or more players in there. However most of the maps right now it's hard to score a flag if there are 16 players in there.
It would be great if you gave us the Halo PC maps plus the Halo 2 maps and threw in some new ones too.

10) Make a Mac port also and release it at the same time. That where you guys got started don't forget your roots. Oh and the port should be easier now that the Macs are sporting Intel x386 chips.

11) New vehicles It would be nice if you threw in a new vehicle as a treat. Pelicans and ATV have been suggested the most but a gauss hog might be easier. Also how about a mech or something like those things in the Matrix: Revelation movie they were defending Zion with.

12) Vote ban/kick system If one player is being disruptive the other players could vote and kick him off. This means the players moderate themselves instead of having a admin have to clean up the server.

13) Away-from-Keyborad(AFK) kick on the servers Very simple if a player does not budge in 2 min they get kicked I was monitoring the Bungie Servers with X-fire and noticed that a certain player was logged into the server AFK for over TWO DAYS!!!! DAYS!! That is redic...No that is ludicrous.

14) No auto-aim as in Halo PC. The mouse is more accurate so we don't need it.

15) New gametypes Maybe have some objective based gametypes like CS and others

16) Automatically detect net connection speed. When the game is started it detects your internet connection speed and sets it for you. In fact the player can not set it at all so that it is accurate. Right now if you set your internet speed to something other then what it is you can cause yourself to warp making it harder to hit you.

17) Setting so you can teammates name visable all the time. Right now you have to aim right at them to get the name to pop up. Obviously you shouldn't be able to see the enemies name because it may give away there position.

18) Easy way to disable the HUD. For those making movies and montages it looks better without the HUD.

19) In game media player. A simple media player built into the game so you can hit a button and skip a song while your in the thick of the battle.

20) Interface with Xbox Live This probably isn't possible but if could connect Halo 2PC into Xbox Live we could get the chance to show those Xbox scrubs how a FPS is supposed to be played.

21) You should have to hit a button to pick up and return the flag. You don't know how frustrating it is to have one guy to kill to get away with the flag and you get smoked because you kept picking up the flag instead of filling him with holes. GRrrrrr...

22) More then 11 characters in your profile name. Where did the number 11 come from anyway? I could understand 8 (bits) or 12 (even) but where the hell did 11 come from? Make it 16 or 20 so we can put some personality in our names.
You were killed by Supercalifragulisticexpealidosious

23) Volunteer admins on Bungie servers. We appreciate that Bungie setup the servers and they are the best servers out there but having no admins has allowed certain people to disrupt players enjoyment on those servers. I understand you guys don't have the time or money for it but you could have volunteers go in every once in a while and clean out the trash. There are several members of the Maw(including the author of this post) who would be willing to do this and would be fair and impartial in performing those duties.

24: Customizable Message of the Day for Dedicated servers. Like they made for Halo CE but without taking up the whole screen and blocking the first 5 second of your sight.

25)....

There are some good suggestions in there, but sadly most if not all will go ignored by Bungie.

I agree with you but the point is still to make suggestions. Let's keep an optomistic attitude and make suggestions like we're supposed to.

I second this motion.
I have a MAC and I have awesome graphics for it, along w/ the best sound system you have ever seen...
This means awesome Halo online action, but I want H2
H2, H2! It isn't fair....

By the way, who knows where the download to play with Halo PC players is?

I third this motion
Also, i think it should be released on mac rather than xp too.
if we had xp and vista to play it on, we could play it, but mac players could not.
but if it we had it on mac, everyone could play it on the pc (as long as xp players buy a vista, which i probably will in the amount of time we have).

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Computer: Power Mac G5 CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB Memory: 1.25 GB Bus Speed: 900 MHz

ATi Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Depth: 32-bit Color

Something I'd like to see is at the end of a match, along with the scores, kills and deaths, it should show the ping , (or avg ping), of each player.

Lots of people try to act like they're so hot, when they just have really low ping. My ping is usually around 67, and I play ok. Sometimes it's like 34 and I'm unstoppable, get accused of hacking, etc. When it's over 100 I don't do as well.

How about a better server filtration system? Let us use our own variables and wildcards for each value of a server when we're doing a search (i.e., 'server name=Bungie*' 'Playing Now=Iggwilv' etc). It doesn't need to be mandatory, just optional.

An ability to PM a moderator while in game regarding a TKer, racist, etc.

In-game screenshots (I like XFire, but it would be better if I didn't have to have a separate piece of software running in the background to accomplish this).

Ability to chat with friends who aren't necessarily on the same server.

An 'enemies' list that would make it so I can't/don't join any servers that has anyone on my 'enemies' list in it.

A voting system that would allow us to change maps, game type, kick stupid freakers, etc. The usual.

Language filters (for text based chat/names).

I like the 'reputation' idea of XL's Gamercards.

Lots of grins and giggles, along with sunshine filled rainbows coupled with oven-fresh applecrisp muffins and world peace would be great.

Oh, a cure for Ankylosing Spondylitits would be super-duper awesome as well. I would totally be an ultimate Bungie/MS fanboy for that.

Make it for XP! We all have XP and there only a couple of people who will go out and buy an operating system just for a game! It was bad enough I had to buy a hard drive to make Halo 2 work on my 360! I'm not willing to go and waste 500 dollars on a new OS to make halo 2 work on computer! I think Microsoft is just making it for Vista to make some people buy the new OS! I like Microsoft and all but they just went down about 10 notchs on my favorite list.
They think no one will buy the OS because there latest OS's were really bad! 2000, XP SP1. Come on bungie! Your sales will go down like "snap" that. Fine. Do what you want but you won't see me buyng Halo 3 for xbox if Halo 2 doesn't come out for XP. You just lost a costumer.

well I'd like it to be able for you to link your nametag for halo 2 pc into bungie, so everyone can see your stats like xbox live. My parents won't allow me to get xbox live, so halo 2 for pc would be great for me to still link my stats to my profile.

OK I added some more suggestions I found on Halo2PC.org which looks like it might turn out to be a good Halo2PC community. Anyway I can't believe I forgot stat-tracking built into Halo2PC. I removed the suggestion to integrate with Xbox Live because Bungie has already said there is NO chance they will do that. So the X-Boxers are safe from us for now :)

Anyway keep 'em coming.

I dont have anything to add, because I think everything I would of said was covered in the first post, but I do have to say something.

Its not like Bungie is making Halo 2 PC for Vista just because its the new OS. Thats just Microsofts way into screwing you into buying Vista if you werent before. They wont make it for the XP because then they lose the Vista appeal, and they wont release for Mac because its obviouse Mircrosoft is trying to get people to buy Vista, so supporting Mac would just be an odd move on their part.

Side note: Personally, I'll probably have Vista within a week of launch, and not soely for Halo 2 PC.

Well they just put together the team for Halo2PC so there isn't much info to tell there. As for Halo3 all of Bungie's new releases have been shrouded in such secrecy I wonder if Bungie knows what is really going sometimes.

There's a lot of suggestions I have but my most important suggestion is that the game isn't so demanding for computers. When Halo PC came out even the top-of-the-line PCs had a hard time playing it at the highest details and resolutions with a framerate above 30 fps. Halo 2 is even demanding on the Xbox, if you've ever noticed the occasional glimpse of untextured models for a second or two, and the giant pixelated explosions of rocket blasts. I hope you can have a less than perfect gaming rig and still have a good visual experience.

Just something I was thinking about.

Do many of you like Halo's health/life meter better than in Halo 2? I sure do, I think having the health adds a neat little factor in the game, making it so you are somewhat in a worse position if you are hurt...as opposed to Halo 2, where you can do anything to yourself, but not put on that last straw....and you will be totally healed. I don't like that as much, and I bet there are quite a few others who agree with me.

So I'm thinking that a nice thing to do would be to make an option for gametype making that allows you to put the game into the old school life meter, and it will play it that way for anyone who goes into the game.

Again, just a thought.
