linux is a *mostly free* os that anyone can download. some people in this thread want a halo dedicated server to only run on linux, but the problem with that is not everyone can have the luxury of taking a pos OS and getting it to run on a computer. for halo pc and ce there is a separate dedicated server exe that you can download for windows. anyone can download it, you don't need lamux to run it, and best of all, its free.
as for the atv, bungie said that they could not get the atv to work correctly. a few ce levels do have an atv in them, but they are always glitchy and hard to control. thats basically the same reason why they did not incoperate those 2-legged beasts that you could ride in the first halo game. some things jsut won't work.
now on teh other hand, do you remember the graphics from the trailer? I think that we may jsut be able to have those on the pc, which would be jsut sweetacular IMO.
oh ya, it does take quite awhile to properly plan out, "assemble", test, and run a full radiosity on a level. *in the one update with the movie, they said those huge AC units were for cooling the radiosity servers *or whatever*. I can believe that, it takes almost 8 hours to do a lo-quality radiosity on my level. think about the immense size of the levels they are doing O.O. and jsut think, if they re-export the level from their 3d studio program... they have to do radiosity on it again... even if they moved only 1 verticy. ow
