lol If you have played halo2 XBOX at a slightly competitive level you would know that assualt isnt even played, pretty dier gametype imo. Infact that gametype doesnt exist anymore, the closest thing to it is 1 flag ctf and that hasnt been used at a competitive level because its not good for gameplay on h2. And the large majority of the maps are small/ medium sized which is why the heavy weapons dont automaticaly respawn when picked up; I for one do not want to get spammed by heavy weapons which ruined halo1 pc. + It makes the game more skilled based having less heavy weapons floating around the map
lol If you have read any of my posts I've made it quite clear that I am a PC gamer and have competed in international PC competitions for the last 4 years. Furthermore, H2V is a PC game and I've made it quite clear that PC formats and console formats, even for the same game, are almost strictly different. Youre right that it would be rediculous to have heavy weapons spawning a lot more on smaller maps, but it is more than likely that if H2V makes it to large PC competitions, like CPL, small maps and common Xbox formats wont be used.

"The weapon control is more important this time around, because each maps power weapons are not on respawn timers until they are used up or discarded. Meaning, once a team/individual has a sniper rifle (assuming that weapon has been delegated a "power weapon" on that map by Bungie) a second sniper rifle will not appear until the sniper rifle has been used up, despawned and then respawned. That respawn time can be lengthened by simply walking over a dropped weapon (this resets the timer on the weapon's despawn)."

If this cant be changed, I will not buy this game. Assuming CAL runs the assault type again, I'm just going to go into your base, take your power weapon back to mine, and give it to my defender so he can keep it activated so you never get it back. Then I'm going to walk the flag in on a platter every round.

Funny on New Year's Eve I played a 16 player assault match.

and it was with bombs, not flags right? and each team had a bomb?

but yeh that happened in halo1 xbox, small maps was used and in h1 pc large maps was used. But apart from the new maps that are being made at the moment for h2 xbox; all the large maps are either too big for even 8v8s or just poorly made and the gameplay on them is horrible. So if these new maps that are being made are not good large maps; then I can't see large maps being used for h2v.

No, it was with flags. I am fully aware of what gametypes are currently in H2 and never made the claim that the assault mode from H1 will be used in PC competitions. It seems that those initial two questions were rhetorical, but I assure you my experience and knowledge of competitive gaming is leaps and bounds beyond yours and your sarcasm and poor rhetoric do not even the playing field.

As far as the current maps in H2 go, Containment, which many claim to be quite large, would be quite a good map for a PC mode similar to the Assault type used by the CPL with a few changes (only a warthog and either another warthog or a ghost, a change in item respawn rules, and maybe the teleporters adjusted closer to the middle). Its hardly a bigger map than Icefields which was sometimes low scoring, but a really great map to play.

lol @ the first paragraph my team for h2 has attened several eu lans and placed 1st or in the top3 in all the lans, not as impressive as your lan achievements but it proves a challenge to get sponsored to travel to the usa for the cpl.. anyway..

containment are you kidding me? thats the worst map ever made !! it takes several minutes to walk around your own base nevermind the map; and if it was 5v5 you will be lucky to find someone on the map which will = slow/ boring gameplay

the maps which i really enjoyed playing on h2 xbox based around ctf gameplay was sanctuary and collosus they are pretty imense maps but thats just my opion

I am against suppressing the respawn of heavy weapons. Personally, I agree with a previous comment which said basically that this would enable players to grab the heavy weapons and run off and hide with them, which I would consider a cowardly and unfair tactic.

I'm completely happy with the normal respawn of weapons that occurs in Halo 1 for the PC and I feel the same scheme should be used in Halo 2 Vista. In Halo 1 for the PC, the only way one team is going to get stocked up with every player carrying a heavy weapon is if the other team is either too weak or too dumb and allows it to happen (in which case they deserve to lose). As long as both teams are applying adequate pressure to control heavy weapon spawn points, it balances out in the end.

LoL, so you are pro at a game that takes no skill rapier? Have fun aiming in players general direction and letting the autoaim give you headshots. What is the name of this clan and where can I read about these tournaments that you have won?

Is Halo 2 vista really worth buying if you already have it for xBox? Should I buy it? Will there be new vehicles, or custom maps like halo PC has? will there be a Halo Vista custom edition? That'd be sweet.

But any way, Halo 2 Vista definately needs a built in map creating tool, and this is my main suggestion:

PEOPLE DONT WANT TO DOWNLOAD STUFF OFF OTHER SITES AND PUT THEM IN OUR GAME FILES, WE'RE TOO LAZY! WE NEED IN GAME FILE TRANSFER.
so like if you join a game in multi, that you don't even have the map, it could open up a little box in the courner saying "FILE TRANSFERING" with a little loading box in the courner. in Halo CE it's too hard to advertise a new map. but this way, you could make a map and host it with the game title "OMG JOIN ITS AN AWSOME MAP" instead of trying to post it on halomaps.org , which no one will even see any way.

You obviously dont thoroughly read my posts and definately didnt compete at any large HPC/CE events. Containment is hardly larger, if any larger, than a lot of the maps used at HPC events and there was constant fighting for map control. The game play was far from slow and boring.

Edit: This is to Rapier (I forgot to quote)

I just wanted a nice co-op mode... but that would be asking too much, wouldn't it? I mean, it's not like the lack of such a mode was one of the most criticized aspects of H1 for the PC, was it?

I don't know if this has been metioned yet, but:

Support for (older?) NVIDIA cards with regard to the active camo. I'm running a 6800 GS. In Halo PC it doesnt show up properly you have to use a patch that causes the in-game text to malfunction. Don't know how many people experience this, but I have heard of a bunch of cases.

You can get a fix that doesn't make the ingame text go away.

I REALLY hope they fix all those annoying glitches (like Rocket-Sword and the like). I mean, there are just so many of them...

I know that several of them are harmless to the gameplay and could only happen on an X-Box, but I don't know if with the Vista version we won't get some of them, along with new ones because now we're playing on a PC.

No! Glitches are fun once in a while.

tbh, H2V needs more cowbell.

Those are sometimes even used in MP, so no. I once Rocket-Sword launged myself to the sniper near the cat-walk in Zanzibar. After that, Sniper and Rockets made it so I could back up my team.

Glitches that affect gameplay are dumb.
