My god what some of you people think of.
what the hell are you talking about with adding 32 player support? halo was not designed to work with 32 people! this would completely change the experience, perhapes in the future 32 people would work fine, but as it is no. pelicans? i understand the desire for something like that, but the current maps (and probably all future OFFICIAL maps) are not designed for something like that. longsword?!?! what the hell! a long sword was designed for space combat! so what map exactly is going to have the enormous size to actually make them fit in the halo universe? Assualt game types? this is a computer PORT people, not a Halo 2.5 release. It is sad that halo 2 is only being released for Vista, but as it is (and i dont know much about the technical specifications of vista), vista could very well be much more optimised for computer gaming, and thus a better halo experience, and a XP port as well would use alot of resourses, and what do you want more Halo 2 for XP and Vista, or Halo 3? (yes i am aware that bungie its self is not doing the port, and that halo 3 has not been officialy announced, but bungie still has some people on the job). As for 56k support, it is not capable of keeping up with TODAYS games, but despite what you may think 56k can run games like starcraft and warcraft with no lag, so sorry to say it but if you have 56k you do not belong in halo 2 or any other of todays games, go play a blizzard title. also who ever said that 56k would be "gone" before halo 2 for pc comes out, what the hell? halo 2 vista will probably come out in 2007, it doesnt take too long to port a game, and with how the communications industry is going, 56k wont be gone untill 2015. Life is hard, and its not always fair, get over it, harsh but true. In a post by boo diddly he said that halo 2 was made on the same hardware that halo 1 was made on, yes very true, but because all xbox consoles are the same, you dont have to worry about upcoming hardware, or compatability issues (to a point), that and maximum efficiency (or as close to), of system resources wasnt reached untill about halo 2, so there is that whole thing with halo 1 being quite wasteful. another thing is that xbox's on your tv run a resolution of what? 640 by 480? thats a pretty crappy resolution when using a pc, so your going to need something significantly more powerful than the xbox to run a decent res of 1280 by 1024. as for multiplayer being similar to the xbox's matchmaking, that would be just fine for ranked games, but if you want to play customs, a server list would be the best bet, and then everyone gets the best of both worlds. as has been said before, pc versus xbox players, is bad because (sorry to say it but its true) a pc is better suited to First Person Shooter games, so there is an im balance right there, and it would make it easier for griefers to do things like bridging, which leads to spawn mods, and other nastiness. yes its true that halo 2 will be big for vista, but they are asking you to reformat your computer, and learn a new operating system, so im sure there will be some nice additives like hang'em high, and sidewinder, but if all else fails, there is always the mod community. Mars Ai 55 what were you getting at with that last paragraph? the mod community somehow encouraged cheaters? so we should destroy the modding community? yes some of the modding community helped cheaters but its not to blame. Auto Aim is mostly to assist people with analogue sticks, it should be unnesesary in a pc title, but im not sure it should be outlawed, dont really know what i think about that just yet. sure new models would be fun wouldnt it? but the distorts the halo universe, so now marines flood, spartans, grunts, hunters, brutes, jackels and bugs all have the same charecteristics? lets see, do they all have shields? no, do they all have Mjolnir mark 6 armor? nope, are they all human? again no, so that doesnt really work well but would be fun. and balancing the elite and spartan would be dificult, if its possible... hey wet base, yeah lets make it so that the 360 gets all the extra features that pc version might get, because that wouldnt defeat the purpose of making a game port at all now would it? not to mention the 360's emulator would have to be updated to fix any problems it would have with the original xbox because that wont get jack, you dont even like the idea of a pc first person shooter maybe when you try it it will be better. Iamwhie you mean that when you join a server with customised content it will automaticaly download it, and install it for you like Unreal Tournament does? yes that would be nice, but to have it auto maticaly download ALL custom content when you go online might be alittle problematic :). alot of the things that i see in here are great, like bot support, but you need to keep in mind this is a port.
So now that is straightend out, how about alittle positive input?
