think about h2, but with next gen graphic capabilities. h2 was running on the same hardware as h1. so when unleashed, h2 pc will have greatly better graphical capabilities.

Being able to play as the aliens and marines, cause being a marine would be cool. Plus maybe NOT BEING ONLY FOR VISTA would be freaking nice, as in, I don't want to spend a truckload of money just to play H2 on PC. If I wanted to play it that badly, I'd mod an XBox to accept a keyboard and mouse, dammit!

ditto Does anyone know when Halo2 for pc is coming out?

Heyyo,

Ingame voice chat whould help a lot yes.. as long as you get the ability to mute other's mics, cause I just can't stand on games like CS those who spam voip with music when I'm trying to pwn. Especially the whiney ones.

They better make a x64 bit edition of Halo2PC, that would definately take full advantage of Vista then for those that have the cpus for it. Cause I myself just recently got a AMD A64 3200+ CPU and winXP Pro x64 and the framerate boost from my AMD AthXP 3000+ CPU is massive, in H1PC benchmarks I get easily 20F/S.. and think, H1PC is only a x32 bit application. Pwnage.

My god what some of you people think of.

what the hell are you talking about with adding 32 player support? halo was not designed to work with 32 people! this would completely change the experience, perhapes in the future 32 people would work fine, but as it is no. pelicans? i understand the desire for something like that, but the current maps (and probably all future OFFICIAL maps) are not designed for something like that. longsword?!?! what the hell! a long sword was designed for space combat! so what map exactly is going to have the enormous size to actually make them fit in the halo universe? Assualt game types? this is a computer PORT people, not a Halo 2.5 release. It is sad that halo 2 is only being released for Vista, but as it is (and i dont know much about the technical specifications of vista), vista could very well be much more optimised for computer gaming, and thus a better halo experience, and a XP port as well would use alot of resourses, and what do you want more Halo 2 for XP and Vista, or Halo 3? (yes i am aware that bungie its self is not doing the port, and that halo 3 has not been officialy announced, but bungie still has some people on the job). As for 56k support, it is not capable of keeping up with TODAYS games, but despite what you may think 56k can run games like starcraft and warcraft with no lag, so sorry to say it but if you have 56k you do not belong in halo 2 or any other of todays games, go play a blizzard title. also who ever said that 56k would be "gone" before halo 2 for pc comes out, what the hell? halo 2 vista will probably come out in 2007, it doesnt take too long to port a game, and with how the communications industry is going, 56k wont be gone untill 2015. Life is hard, and its not always fair, get over it, harsh but true. In a post by boo diddly he said that halo 2 was made on the same hardware that halo 1 was made on, yes very true, but because all xbox consoles are the same, you dont have to worry about upcoming hardware, or compatability issues (to a point), that and maximum efficiency (or as close to), of system resources wasnt reached untill about halo 2, so there is that whole thing with halo 1 being quite wasteful. another thing is that xbox's on your tv run a resolution of what? 640 by 480? thats a pretty crappy resolution when using a pc, so your going to need something significantly more powerful than the xbox to run a decent res of 1280 by 1024. as for multiplayer being similar to the xbox's matchmaking, that would be just fine for ranked games, but if you want to play customs, a server list would be the best bet, and then everyone gets the best of both worlds. as has been said before, pc versus xbox players, is bad because (sorry to say it but its true) a pc is better suited to First Person Shooter games, so there is an im balance right there, and it would make it easier for griefers to do things like bridging, which leads to spawn mods, and other nastiness. yes its true that halo 2 will be big for vista, but they are asking you to reformat your computer, and learn a new operating system, so im sure there will be some nice additives like hang'em high, and sidewinder, but if all else fails, there is always the mod community. Mars Ai 55 what were you getting at with that last paragraph? the mod community somehow encouraged cheaters? so we should destroy the modding community? yes some of the modding community helped cheaters but its not to blame. Auto Aim is mostly to assist people with analogue sticks, it should be unnesesary in a pc title, but im not sure it should be outlawed, dont really know what i think about that just yet. sure new models would be fun wouldnt it? but the distorts the halo universe, so now marines flood, spartans, grunts, hunters, brutes, jackels and bugs all have the same charecteristics? lets see, do they all have shields? no, do they all have Mjolnir mark 6 armor? nope, are they all human? again no, so that doesnt really work well but would be fun. and balancing the elite and spartan would be dificult, if its possible... hey wet base, yeah lets make it so that the 360 gets all the extra features that pc version might get, because that wouldnt defeat the purpose of making a game port at all now would it? not to mention the 360's emulator would have to be updated to fix any problems it would have with the original xbox because that wont get jack, you dont even like the idea of a pc first person shooter maybe when you try it it will be better. Iamwhie you mean that when you join a server with customised content it will automaticaly download it, and install it for you like Unreal Tournament does? yes that would be nice, but to have it auto maticaly download ALL custom content when you go online might be alittle problematic :). alot of the things that i see in here are great, like bot support, but you need to keep in mind this is a port.

So now that is straightend out, how about alittle positive input?

- complete physics engine featuring Rag Doll Physics (bump).
- EXTENSIVE map editing tools, similar to but not limited to something like Unreal Editor, or hammer.
- Spectator Mode.
- Online Co-op mode .
-small internal media player so i can beat some ass to my favorite songs, mostly so i dont have to alt tab to get off of a crappy song.
- internal video recording for montages, and other assorted videos.
- a simple way to turn off the hud ^.
- Voice Over IP (mic's).
- Bonus content to really sell the game, maps, game types, perhapes some videos of its creation or something.
- vote kick system for griefers.
- server side kick option for high pings.

thats about enough for now, sorry for gramatical and spelling errors, and offensivness for you sensitive readers out there.

ps.calling people newbs is only wrong when used in a derogatory way, so i will call someone a newb if the term applies.

If u care to remember UT2004 the bunch of players (32 or whatnot) made the game alot more challenging and fun and i can just imagine in Halo 2 PC about 8 guys in a pelican doing a nice little flag run while the other defend the base with turrets and hogs and whatnot...it would be superb...so i guess my suggestion is to have more then 16 players as a posibility

- good server browser in-game (with good filter options)
- perhaps buddy list
- the same as xbox H2: to create and manage ur clan
- and of course a good netcode :>

A good spectate mode, and the map editor will be sufficient for me. (Unless they snuck fall damage back in, I wouldn't complain about that either.)

VOIP would be nice, but what I really want is a server toggle to allow the warthog to become indestructible again. I have only played Halo on the PC and when I saw that episode of RvB where they blow one to bits...

Well, it was almost enough to make a grown man cry.

They should make it where you can give orders to the marines and tell them what to do. for example, like follow me, stay here, advance, etc. Kind of like Ghost Recon.

They could also do the same thing just with other spartans like yourself. In the books, a few (like 4 or something) spartans survived. They didn't include anything like that in H2.

whats the matter with more than 16 players? containment with 24, or 6 more per team and a few new vehicles, would work awesomely. hell, htat map could support a pelican or 2...

respawning weapons. if we can just do a simple edit to allow for weapons to respawn that would be good.

what if the new maps made were made to support 24 players, etc.? naw, im hoping too much. it will prob be 16 like status quo. or halo status quo.

I dont want to seem pompous but if you are only going to read one post out of everything in this thread it should be my last one, atleast untill people can convince me that i am wrong : /. Sorry spartan 012 but as you might have noticed it was getting alittle late when i was typing that up, and i really did not feel like thinking much about what i was writing, but i did think enough to disregard alot of the things said.

Now that i think about it one of the things i said was stupid, i have halo for pc and i have seen games with 16-32 players, but even on enourmous maps it doesnt work so well, the main problem i see is that the game is designed so that proper strategy, combined with skill, will obliterate your enemies. if you have ever played a 8v8 big team battle, you know how hard it can be to work together.

Zee JolllyRoger, a nice simple User Interface would be nice for a map editor wouldnt it? problem is they are complex by nature, if you have ever used the Unreal Editor, you would see some things (such as vehicle factories) are unnessesarily complex, but to create a good map you should have the time, brains, and patience to figure this stuff out, or go to www.3dbuzz.com, excellent site for learning alot map editors with free video tutorials covering, modeling with maya/max, and using unrealed, hammer, sand box, etc. etc.

n0d3z320, one of the reasons it lags is because there is no dedicated server to take the load of 16 xbox's from various places around the country if not the world. instead they have acouple of xboxs trying to take it, some times it works ok, some times not so much. but with pc's there is a much greater variable of computer competency, so they will hopefully have some dedicated servers, and leave the rest to people who have a server to use for halo.

With the exception of a few maps, 32 players would make it seem too crowded. The maps were designed for 16 players max, and if you put more in it could seriously take away strategy aspects, and other things.

Definitely not looking through this whole thread....so here's my list.

- Server browser for large games (Big Team Battle) so end-users can't host (residential uploads can't handle it). Otherwise normal matchmaking is fine (NO 56K HOSTS).
- Keep the 16 player limit. H2 maps were not designed for anything more.
- Include ALL released multiplayer maps.
- Perhaps a couple new PC-exclusive maps like what Gearbox did with H1.
- HIGHLY BROADBAND OPTIMIZED netcode. Let admins choose the maximum ping allowed in servers before kick (like some server in Half-Life and Half-Life 2 do).
- Incorporate VoIP in the game (like Battlefield 2). Advertise it on the box or however so people know they can use it.
- A way to find out who you are looking at with your reticle (like Half-Life 1/2).
- Fix the active camo bug that some NVIDIA users experienced!
- Give the SDK to modders/3rd parties before Halo 2 PC's release.

That's all for now.

I'd like to make a new suggestion: Please move away from the C&C renegade style "ooh look, buy this game, you can host your own battles!" system of doing things and gear it up like half life so that only dedicated servers have any chance of getting a decent ping. People playing H1PC from home servers have to face facts, residential connections CANNOT handle the bandwidth needed for a FPS multiplayer game, even if you have a server machine on your connection running a dedicated one, there's no way it can run.

I suggest making the server browser, by default, filter out any non-dedicated servers or servers running on connections below 75mb/75mb, that's the only way general and rampant lag will be removed.

Geez this threads getting huge! If I don't read it for a day I gotta lot to sift thru. Anyway good suggestions keep them coming and don't worry about posting something someone else already did because the more the idea comes up Bungie will know what the most popular are. I might even rank the suggestions if I feel up to it.

I see some suggestions for mods but I don't know anything about mods and the tools you guys use so if someone like Chewy or another modder can summarize the mods suggestions so I can list them in the list above I would appreciate it.

Keep 'em coming.
