OK well to summarize our conversation, the Havok engine has exploits and mods that let you bounce around like a madman. Is this a good thing? should these be kept in? I would be OK with them being server/map mods but not in the normal setup of the game.

I'm sure bungie can fix those bugs and exploits.

I would like to be able to control some of the havok settings from the console like in half life 2. Maybe make it like devmode in ce, you can't play multiplayer. There are alot of really really neat things you can do if you modify the physics. I'm thinking machinema aswell.

I think health should be incorporated, to me it's stupid to be able to survive a sniper shot, and then you are fully healed, so basically you can survive infinite sniper shots, if you get shot once, then the shields respawn to full strenght. Not dying while falling is still good.
I disagree. That's not true. Let me explain:

You actually do have health. It just never shows it and you never have to pick up health-power ups. Let's say that someone takes down your shield and shoots you a couple of times but it doesn't kill you, and you recharge your shields. If someone were to take down your shields again, you would be killed easier. However, your "health" is gradually restored within 10 to 17 seconds or so.

And I think the no-health concept is a great idea, anyways. It makes the game more fast-paced. I don't think Halo 2 PC's gameplay should not be replaced or removed in any aspect, only added upon.

why vehicle damage should be off, and grenades should detonate
I think the vehicles should be destructible, or at least it should be a game option whether to have vehicles be invulnerable or not. Dropped grenades in Halo 2's Campaign detonate just the same in Combat Evolved when in contact with an explosion.

thats an Exploit ointo the Havoc engine, and if you notice he killed the guy that was standing there, thus havok made his fall take no damage.
Not true. I'm pretty sure he would have made it safely on the ground with no damage even if he didn't kill that guy. It's simply a bug, an exploitation of the many incredibly ridiculous glitches in Halo 2, which I hope most will be fixed when they finish porting it to PC.

So if there was no one there he would have died from the fall? And what explains his firing a rocket point blank at a wall and accelerateing upwards 200 ft to the top of the tower? It's this kind of stuff that bugs me, if its a mod OK, but if thats the way the engine works I hope they fix it to make it more realistic.
It's fine and dandy that you killed the guy at the bottom, I would expect as much if you land on someone traveling 50m/sec, but there is no way you should walk away from that.

No, he would not die from the fall. I don't know why the guy did it. I hope they fix these unrealistic bugs too.

But come on guys, it's Halo. Science-fiction. Just imagine that the Mark VI makes Spartans impervious to fall damage from long-distances.

And come on dude, you see a bunch of unrealistic things happening in Combat Evolved just as much as in Halo 2. The grenade animation, for example. Don't you think it's quite wierd how people can slide across the ground while they're throwing grenades? Or how you stand up in the passenger seat of a warthog while throwing a grenade.

Not to mention, climbing up ladders. It's quite retarded how one can climb ladders while throwing grenades/reloading/firing. Sure, you see the same thing in Halo 2, but not as many maps or levels have ladders.

You ever look at someone use a flash light in multiplayer, and the light is built into their head, yet when they melee, reload, or fire their weapon, the light seems to move from the direction of the gun? Talk about odd.

I could easily show you videos of this.

I was suggested that we be able to see the starting weapons displayed in the lobby & X-fire so we would know what we are getting into. Also to be able to filter based on the weapon set of the server.

Another suggestion is when you make a game type you can check which weapons you want included in the map. So you can come up with any possible combo of weapons.

This might have come up before but im wondering how the steering will work. Those of you that havent played halo2, this means that the right analog stick (joystick, analog stick, whatever the things you aim and move with) looks around while your driving and the left controls the gas and steering. For example if you move the left analog stick up and to the left, the the vehicle your in will accelerate and turn left. This results in you being able to look in one direction and be driving in another. This must be hard to do with a keyboard and mouse, and im wondering how excatly bungie will do it.

They will most likely use the HaloPC style of controls of W = Forward, S = Back, and mouse = steering. If they don't do things that way, they should have an option to do that. Since the HaloPC vehicular controls are the most intuitive I've seen in a long time.

Actually I would like to give matchmaking a try because that what I find the most frustrating about HaloPC right now. I go into a game and there is either a couple super-elite pros(frustrating to play against) or newbs(not a challenge) and it ends up in a one-sided match. Correct me if I'm wrong matchmaking will put you into a game with players close to your rank. Granted if the player is a hacker or elite-pro that just started they will destroy you on their way up the ladder until they reach their (il)legitimate level. If this isn't the way it is supposed to work or doesn't work as advertised fill me in. Why is it not a good thing?

Time to dig this thread up again and kick around some ideas.

Here is one to chew on:
One of the factors that killed Halo Custom Edition(CE) was the fact that you had to download the map from one of a couple different sites and then unzip and install it yourself. A task which most people had problems with or were too lazy to do.

So I would like to see some kind automatic map download feature to make it easier to get maps, even on-the -fly. Maybe make a central place for users to register their maps so they can be auto-downloaded. What do the modding people think? Hopefully those guys that made Halo CMT will see this and make some suggestions.

aslong as they don't screw the HEK users over with their map creator, I don't think there is much else they could want.

Don't forget about modifications.

Let's just hope there won't be as many servers in H2 PC as there are in HPC where there are sniper rifles that fire tank shells.

It would be nice if they made 24-player support, but I'm fine with 16.
