LMAO!

P2P chatting system. Select the name from the list, and type. Coolzors.
Customizable HUD. ('cept for the X-hairs, of course...) The ablity to move the radar/health bars/wep displays would be nice.

woot a new idea!

I was playing PDZ the other day at a friends house, and when the host left the game i thought the game would end, but it didnt.

instead the person with the best connection out of all the people playing got host, now i'm not saying i want the host jump system that was in Halo 2. mainly because of all the problems it brings along with it ( bridging, standbying etc).

but what if that when the host just suddenly leaves the person with the next best net connection get host?

What if the next best connection is dial-up or really slow DSL? I wouldn't want that.....

The host is going to be on a dedicated server, not on the players CPU's

Or they could make it so only high speed DSL users get to play on that game. Sure sounds harsh, but I mean I can't come up with other choices. But I get what you're saying, and I think it's not that bad of an idea, but what if the connection is given to a hacker. This idea has a lot of pros and cons...

Actually this concept isn't new at all, and it's not as good of an idea as you think. Xbox Live uses a peer-to-peer gaming connection so when the host of the game leaves, the connection is transferred to another player. Players on other continents like Europe get pissed because they get slow connections because they have to connect to the host and since most Halo 2 players live in North America, chances are the host is there too, so it gets really laggy for players in other countries because they're so far apart from the host. And frankly, I don't mind the game closing down when the host leaves.

How about a compromise?
The connection jumps, but the time limit jumps to five seconds . And stats are recorded instead of being dumped.

And what is wrong with CE2?

Nothing. We're not having a CE2 because we're going to be able to make maps and play them straight into the vanilla version without having to download a separate stand alone program that will take several hours to download (depending on your connection) that barely anybody else will be playing anyway.

Yeh, sure. Like Bungie would ever let out enough source code in the release to mod as extensively as the current CE.

There isn't any source code in CE...

Good to know. So what does make CE go, if it has no source code?

Source code and an executable are different. An executable isn't editable, but can run. Source code is editable but doesn't do anything by itself.

That's not entirely true chewy. An executable can be edited so as not to require a CD in the tray to run. I don't know how legal that is, but I like using them because I hate switching CD's whenever I want to play a game.
