Give the ability to hit a key and have a popup window appear / disappear which shows the history of all text chat messages that have been sent. I know that I've sometimes had someone say something to me in text chat in the heat of battle and I'll miss it because it disappeared too fast.

Kyle

I like this one too it hasn't been said and I frequently miss messages when people are trying to tell me there is a TKer

I want your BXR to leave. It's overstayed its welcome, it's rude and inconsiderate, it's always unfair to others and technically the BXR was an accident, it was never supposed to have been born.

Same with its brothers, the RRX and the RRYB. And all of their cousins too.

how are they unfair when everyone can do it if everyone would stop complaining about it and learn how to use it then it wouldnt be a big deal it actually adds more depth to the game..... The double shot can save someone if your down a shot whats wrong with giving someone a chance to stay alive I think most people dont like due to the fact that A) they dont know how to use it or B) they dont know how to stop it. Either way no button combos are unfair.

Its a little unfair if you have no chance to stop it. If you get killed in .3 seconds its unfair.

  • 11.22.2006 6:05 PM PDT

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

and its a little unfair when it wanst meant to be in the game and other people dont know how to do it

But dude, it's a God damned glitch. It's not supposed to be in the damned game. Using the BXR and such is unfair, as you are exploiting glitches to gain an advantage over others. I'm not saying it's as bad as cheating, since you are absolutely right, anybody can pull it off. But it's quite pathetic in a game if you have to learn how to exploit mishaps and glitches just so you can keep up the pace with players who frequently button glitch.

Not to mention, it's already relatively easy to pull off these button glitches on the Xbox consistently with practice, but imagine how easy it would be to pull it off with a mouse and keyboard. It would wreak havoc on gameplay more than it already does.

Also, my final beef with a BXR is that it's not always consistent. If somebody is the host in a game and BXRs you, but you BXR him first, chances are he'll get the kill off of you first, just because he has the better connection. The button glitches aren't what's not fair, it's the damned peer-to-peer connection that's what makes it so inconsistent and cheap.

We're not complaining, and I'm pretty confident I could win a one-on-one with you, glitches or no glitches.

1v1 doesnt matter because one person would get host and i hope you all realize that host gives you a huge advantage over your opponent and if you get host im going to complain about it or vice versa. So if you want to play a team game ill be more then glad to when i get my xbox back.....

Heyyo,

Now people... I have GREAT news. Just fired up WinV eh? thought I'd try HaloPC onnit since I hear there's compatibility issues on Vista with it... and yeah, Vista pops up "known compatibility issues with game" so I let Vista check for solutions, pops up a link on bungie's page...

http://www.bungie.net/Games/HaloPC/page.aspx?section=FAQInfo& amp;subsection=Support&page=2

so I install this patch... thought nothing big, thought it would just make the game compatible... BUT THEY MADE IT TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF VISTA! Like... holy smokes! it runs AMAZING. Doing a Timedemo lots of the time I saw 100F/S+ STABLE! Check it out:

I mean.. average framerate of 86.07fps! that's almost double what I get in WinXP! I'm gonna restart my comp (dual-booting) and am gonna try timedemo with WinXP to see what happens with this support patch. :)

My faith that Halo2Vista will run amazing is now 150%. Bungie will work miracles people. They just did on H1PC for Vista. =D

Hmm, I jumped the gun on this one actually... got soo psyched Halo1PC ran soo well, turns out I get the same benchmark or so on HaloPC before the vista patch. Not fully used to new cpu parts. =P

so slightly higher in WinXP mainly cause Aero does take a bit of CPU and RAM, but not a lot actually. Hmm, cause yeah, when I benched with my AMD A64 3200+ cpu I averaged 60F/S.... maybe the game's multi-threaded????

Anywho, that aside, when bungie supports their games they do it well, cause I remember trying Halo1PC pre-bungie's patch, and I couldn't even get past the error message "you need DirectX9 to play this game, please install DirectX9".... and now it gets ingame and runs great. No hardware acceleration but that's due to Creative's drivers I'm sure, cause last time I tried Vista, there wasn't even Beta2 drivers out.

Meh, still, can't wait for more Vista games to roll out... there is one thing I'm loving right now... Craig has a Asus 8800GTS... ya know "the first DirectX10 card on the market?".... there's no Vista drivers for the Geforce 8800 series yet! hahaha, me and me other bud couldn't stop laughing... he went to bed early, probably to cry himself to sleep.. I'm sure underneeth our evil-ness we're good people. =)

I'm gonna try Far Cry and some of the other 64bit games and see if my framerates totally kickass over 32bit WinXP Home/Pro non-64bit editions.

I would like to remind everyone that this thread is for feature suggestions for Halo 2 Vista. There are other threads or forums for talking about X-Box glitches or making general comments about performance. If the decision makers for Halo 2 Vista at Bungie do happen to read all 38+ pages of this thread, we want them to see our suggestions for Halo 2 Vista. We don't want them to stop reading because the thread meanders off topic.

Thank You

Suggestions

- A frustrating problem in the original Halo for PC is that, for example, on Danger Canyon you can be walking along very carefully on the center ledge and then suddenly a lag spike causes the server to throw you off the cliff to your death. Other games like Unreal Tournament do not have this problem. I suspect the problem occurs because the server receives a very delayed notification that the player stopped walking or changed direction. I would suggest fixing it by causing the server to immediately freeze the player's position in its view of the world if motion data from the client is lagged beyond a certain threshold (250 ms?). There actually could be several ways of addressing this in the code.

- Create a server configuration setting to enable the admin to alter how much a player can alter his motion when jumping through the air.

Yay! Another UT sujestion! You see, somme thing that are good ideas in UT are not so good in Halo since they are not the same style of game. UT is obviously not centered on realizm(sp?), whereas Halo tends to folow the laws of physics.

How auto-aim needs to be handled:
Hired Gun said that auto-aim would be treated differently with the 360 controller and the mouse, for obvious reasons. I just hope they don't screw it up.

KEYBOARD/MOUSE:
Campaign:
easy- slight autoaim
normal- no autoaim
heroic- no autoaim
legendary- no autoaim

Mutiplayer:
-no autoaim, ever

XBOX 360 CONTROLLER FOR WINDOWS:
Campaign:
easy- massive autoaim
normal- slight autoaim, similar to KB/M on easy
heroic- slight autoaim, similar to KB/M on easy
legendary- slight autoaim, similar to KB/M on easy

Multiplayer:
-no one is stupid enough to use a pad against KB/M users in multiplayer, so that means no autoaim for anyone
-if you don't want to alienate Xbox 360 users that just want the Xbox version but in HD on their comp and want to use the 360 controller and want to play MP but can't without autoaim, there HAS to be an option for 360 controller ONLY multiplayer matches in which there is aim-assist
-If there is no separation of control schemes for MP, keyboard/mouse users come FIRST which means no aim-assist whatsoever

It's ok to have a bit of auto-aim for the contolers in multiplayer, just to make it fair. As long as it's not like in Halo 2 Xbox. And you'r only half right about people using the controler in multiplayer. No, not alot of people are stupid enough to use a controler in multyplayer, but alot of people are ignorant enough to use it. So, until ignorance is conquerd, we must still put up with auto-aim.

Suggestions

- In the original Halo for the PC, if you point your crosshair at a player, their name appears above their head, which is great, but it doesn't work when you point your crosshair at a player that is in a vehicle. It would be nice to have this fixed.

- When you have other players inside a vehicle with you, it would be nice if your HUD would show the names of those other players.
