Subject: halo 4 ancient evil = Flood

Who's awesome? ^ this guy.

I mean, in halo legends it talks about how the forerunners destroyed all sentinel life to stop the flood from eating. They repopulated it tho, wouldn't that mean that since they repopulated it, the flood came back? And seeing how everyone thought that was it for the flood and the covenant, doesn't that mean Master chief should be fighting flood on that forerunner planet he and cortana were heading into at the end of halo 3 and halo legends? I mean, I imagine more flood have repopulated on that world, seeing how they got to earth some how. I'm just guessing but Masterchief and cortana gotta get back home some how, doesn't that mean they would have to atleast be able to contact UNSC forces some how? Could the UNSC forces be the lost crew from the spirit of fire? Just more and more questions seem to keep coming.

It can't only be the flood though, I'm pretty sure there must be a whole new enemy MC will fight. What was the legends episode called with the forerunner planet?

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I'd say the Forerunners.

Most probably this. I think that'd be a cool twist, to see the beings you thought were the good guys through the trilogy become the antagonists.

How would that work, though? Humans are reclaimers, the Forerunners succesors. Why would they suddenly try and kill MC?

Unless they are rogue Forerunners who want to kill everything or something.

I doubt it's the forerunners just because it's an evil. My guess is Mendicant Bias with a sentinel army aimed at firing the halo rings because the flood escaped containment.

Can't be Forerunners,they can't be a threat to the entire universe.They aren't that advanced.

More likely some creation of the Precursors.

The Forerunners are a Tier 1 race. They're more advanced than anything else we know of that is still around, introducing something completely new would be a bad move IMO.

um dude 2 errorrs...
1st.Mendicant Bias had allyed with flood but was stooped by offensive bias.
2.Mendicant Bias is on the foreruner dreadnought witch MC was on at halo 2 ending, now Mendicant Bias is good and trying to help MC to prove he is worthy again to tha forreruners. il soon send ja a topic where that is explained

"And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can to keep it stable - keep you safe. I'm not so foolish to think this will absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions."

The "Path Ahead" refers to the portal that Mendicant did something to in order to get MC to this planet. This planet is clearly forerunner in origin.

Mendicant Bias wants to send Master Chief and Cortana to the Forerunners to prove to them that he has changed for the better.

A vague image of what we'll see in the beginning of Halo 4 is heavily hinted in the end of Halo 3 from the last terminal on legendary.

We're going to meet the Forerunners. As for the rest of what will happen, we won't know until later down the road.

From a story perspective would that make any sense though? Medicant Bias sent you to Sigma 7 (which I'll be calling this planet since the "leaks", real or not, have provided us with the only name for it thus far) so he can prove to the Forerunners he atoned for his sins by protecting the last guardian of the Mantle's inheritors, the Chief.

So unless some of the Forerunners still feel animosity towards the humans after the war--understandable--then the only other logical Ancient evil is the Flood and the Prisoner.

1) We have no real proof that the Precursors were wiped out. It would seem that, down the road, more Ancient knowledge was uncovered to suggest the Precursors went on the Great Journey, considering Didact's follow in their footsteps line.

2) The Prisoner is clearly a villain, possibly even the Gravemind himself. Either way, being a Precursor, which I find more likely then not, and a transsentient like the Gravemind, he has powers the rest of us can only dream of. A Transsentient would esily be a threat to the entire universe. More importantly, take his word with a grain of salt.

3) The Forerunners on the other hand never left this galactic neighborhood. The universe is nearly infinite. They have the technology to travel between universes, but not across them, not in any reasonable time.

The Precursors did. So at this moment, the only thing that could be a threat to the entire universe is the Prisoner.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

And to add on to Rob the forerunners aren't evil nor are they new, which is what the races is said to be.

Who's awesome? ^ this guy.

Man this thread somewhat shot up while I was asleep. But anyway back to the subject. What ever happened to the spirit of fire, I was thinking thatmaybe they did the same thing as chief, and maybe they are stuck on the forerunner planet with habitat life and things like such, and maybe later the flood hit it, like it hit earth.

When the word "ancient" is used in science fiction, it is only there to make something double in awesomeness and mystic.
You try...

alien race----ancient alien race..

see, it just became double as awesome.

I can see the flood making an appearance, they are important to the story.

The flood and the covenant are very important roles to the halo storyline. Even without the covenant, even just having the flood and sentinel robots that the forerunners created would be nice. After all, who is seriously gonna be this ancient threat? The flood is a very ancient threat, after all, it's because of the flood that the forerunners supposedly made themselves go extinct. Besides, no one wants to fight forerunners in halo 4, that would be unrealistic, and uncreative. So who else is there to fight?

I don't want to fight the Forerunners either, except some rogue AI's of them.

As for the ancient enemy,candidates:
-The Flood
-The ones who sended ancient crude ships to the milky way(the floods arrival)
-The timeless one
..

Either way The Precursors and Flood would have some connections with it.

But the Covenant are OUT,they were nothing more then a zealous small empîre.

However i would love to see a second campaign playing thel vadam in the ungoing civil war.
